Nate is now hedging a bit and saying that a Clinton blowout is looking possible, and she managed to gain enough in the popular vote in the last couple of days to avoid a loss from a 3-point "systemic polling error".

Sure Nate.

May I ask where you're seeing these comments from Silver?

he never said a blowout wasn't possible.

I’m disgusted in how people have behaved this election on all sides. Democracy is breaking down.

I’ve seen way too much attacking of people who have different political beliefs. I’ll preface this by saying I am fairly liberal. I voted for Bernie in the primary. I will be voting for Hilary tonight. I think she’ll make an okay president. I think Trump has run an extremely toxic campaign and would be a lame duck president.

However, I’ve seen too much stuff online where people are using “Trump Supporter” should not be used as an insult to invalid a person’s opinion. This has been terrible. Just because someone has different political opinions from you does not mean they’re a bad person. Everywhere I look I’ve seen this. I’ve LEGIT seen people lose their friends because of supporting one candidate or another. Lay down the pitch forks, people.

If anything, this election has convinced me that democracy is broken. The average person is too immature to have any ounce of self determination

The wording on the death penalty boggles my mind. Vote retain to repeal the death penalty. I have a feeling this will confuse a lot of voters. My ballot will look exactly like yours. Hoping Omaha goes blue, but there's no way district 1 goes blue.

I was worried about this, but it made sense if you read your ballot.

Roads dont build themselves

Cutting the estate taxes were evidentally more important for Chrisite
Just an FYI, question 2 is not fully accurate. It allows the state to borrow billions if passed. It's kind of a trick question. Voting yes doesn't mean it's going to fix roads.

Have you read anything he's written all year? He's had that as one of the main outcomes basically pretty much since the end of the primaries.

And what is your point with the recent gain? Are you implying Nate fabricated the very-real signal observable in the polls?

I feel like 538 has been intentionally making things seem close over the last week just to keep the page views up.

I think he's just scared to death of his reputation being destroyed by a US equivalent of brexit even though that sort of thing almost definitely will not happen for a number of reasons

Saw like 6 different paragraphs about Benghazi on my FB today. Labeled Clinton a murderer. They are legit calling her Killary...

I don't think I'd be able to stop myself from telling them exactly who I'm voting for and then skip past them on the way out.

Don't be that... wait =/

Nah, I get it. I'd want to tell them to go fuck themselves, really. But I have a lot of self control now, especially as I get older. I'd definitely do the last minute drive-by "haha I lied" shit though, I can still be immature and petty that way =P

Went and voted a few hours ago. My brother was a few places ahead of me in line (he left before I did, and I wouldn't ride with him anyway, I can't stand his driving. And he gets carsick if I drive, heh).

Anyways, there was a sizable line but nothing too bad. My mother is one of the poll workers, she was a bit exhausted (and this was only about 11 am) because they didn't have enough workers for anyone to take a break, which just...what the hell? I was baffled. I even volunteered (months ago) to work the election but wasn't called, so its not like they were short of volunteers. I hope my mother got a break.

Nothing bad happened at the polls though, people were friendly. Talked to my brother afterward about how he voted, and I was actually surprised. My brother is very libertarian, but he had mused voting Trump early in the election cycle. I had a feeling he wouldn't, but still, there was some worry. He didn't, in the end, so I figured he voted Johnson, to which he laughed.

No, he wrote-in Jim Webb. Which blew my mind. My brother voting for a democrat? Even a write-in? What a strange world we live in...

Lots of outlets benefit from people thinking it's close. Then you'll get trump and his supporters crying foul when it' actually a blowout.

Being a Republican has not been so toxic in decades...being a Trump supporter is signing your name up with a terrible person.

Also, democracy is not breaking...I see this a lot from young friends on Facebook and a ton of them are from California for some reason. It is time to get some perspective and realize that even though your preferred candidate wasn't the nominee, democracy moves on.

You keep reposting this same rhetoric with an astounding ignorance to what Trump actually stands for. This hostility wasn't as magnified against Romney voters, there's a reason for that.

Furthermore calling Trump supporters mean names has nothing to do with the erosion of democracy. Trying to lower voter turnout, roadblock congress and uphold Citizen's United however are threats to democracy, and spoiler, those are all Republican initiatives.

Oh my god, step off it with this "both sides are bad" bullshit. Being a Trump supporter isn't just "having a different opinion." It's being a bad person, which should be a fucking no brainer for supporting one of if not the most dangerously stupid, xenophobic, misogynistic, racism, fascistic, presidential candidates of ALL time. Full stop, no one here is having any of this both sides bullshit anymore. So please leave if "b-b-b-but stop hurting the feelings of people supporting terrible shit" is your only fucking contribution. >:(

Yep! Anything you hear about exit polling, do not take at face value. It's under strict quarantine. The data can leak and it may leak (and if it did it would be around this time) but odds are you won't know anything until about 930 eastern. It all depends on how late the polls stay open in states like FL, NC, PA, NH. Exceptionally high voter turnout historically favors the dems. It doesn't always work that way, but it usually does.

I'm still incredibly nervous that they're just missing something in the data, the same way they did in the primaries but who knows, maybe it's all for nothing.

Something really important to remember though is the popular vote. This is something the NYT said, and they're dead on, but Hillary will lag behind the popular vote for a significant amount of time (much like Obama did) because East coast cities and the West Coast will take a lot longer to count their votes.

Cool! :)

I was just wondering if I'd be able to know anything before I have to go grab some sleep, alas it seems I'll only find out in the morning. Hopefully Hillary will win!

So trump has to win Florida in order to win right?

And floridas polls close at 7pm eastern so we should know by 4pm west coast time if Hillary won?
