America is a deeply poisoned and broken country in too many places and its poison undermines it at key points. Trump was part of a perfect storm of factors to bring basically everything bad about America together in the same moment.

Combined with Hillary's inherent unpopularity - not saying she actually deserves it - and it was always a recipe for disaster.
