United States Election: Nov. 8, 2016 |OT| Hate Trumps Love

It's not over. But I will say this:

As an African American woman, I am so so disappointed. I know this country still hated me and the rest of us minorities, but I didn't realize that it was this widespread. Trump should have never gotten this far. I'm so disappointed tonight. It has less to do about the presidency, and almost everything to do about knowing how the general white America feels when he/she looks at me and a very large portion of the country. Disgraceful. Whether Clinton wins or not, very real learning experience this has been.

Yep, this is a fucking embarrassment for the country whether she wins or not at this point.

Maybe it's the gin talking because I'm more or less shitfaced but I legit feel bad for supporting Sanders to the extent that I did now.

So many Sanders supporters blew up every little flaw with Hillary and split the party in two for fucking nothing. Then a lot of them didn't even follow through with him throwing his weight behind Hillary, and jesus christ we didn't do enough internal control or leading to stop this shit from getting out of hand.

The emails meant nothing and it's disgusting that the side I supported was a key part in making that an issue. Hillary was a plenty progressive candidate who got a shitty image (in part by her own campaign team being horrible at outreach) partially because the primaries have that terrible way of tearing parties apart.

Ah yes Sanders obviously would win wht with the fact that he couldn't even beat Hillary in a primary let alone a General Election.

Guys. Hillary is STILL WINNING in swing states. Ohio still has major metro areas to report in 100%.

Chill.

He would have though, very few GE voters participate in primaries, and the rural voters who supported him then aren't coming out to help H now...

Early returns in Michigan are not great for Clinton. Trump is winning by big margins in rural areas and by 2 percentage points overall. The New York Times’s live forecast, which takes into account where the votes are coming from, is now giving Clinton just a 54 percent chance of winning the state and a 58 percent chance of winning the election overall. Before votes were counted, Clinton had a 94 percent chance of winning in Michigan according to the Times and a 79 percent chance according to our forecast.

Exactly how I feel. Grew up Muslim and I just have a knot in my stomach thinking that this many people in the country fucking hate my people and other minorities. My aunt and grandmother were crying earlier today because they're so scared of Trump winning.

So as a European following the election so far, can we say that Clinton will most likely win (by a much smaller margin than predicted, though), but won't be able to get much done because of a Republican dominated Congress? That's the most likely outcome, right?

that's the real threat of tonight

it looks like democrats are not going to win the senate at the moment which is pretty awful, we need the senate to at least go 50/50 and right now the odds don't look good on that

I'm legitimately afraid right now.

Trump winning with a Republican House/Probable Senate is a nightmare scenario.

I would ordinarily say that the republican congress would be hostile to Trump considering policy wise he is pretty damn far from the republican establishment on just about every issue, but with the way they rolled over for him, I'm scared too.

I bet the DNC wishes they didn't screw Bernie over.
How it would be to be a fly on the wall for their upcoming meetings.

Hopefully they see how disconnected their establishment candidates are from the people.

OK "First election guys", can you fill me in on something? At what point is it appropriate to panic? Do we panic when we lose Florida? Panic when we lose NC and NH? Because it looks like all of those things are going to happen. When is this great comeback you keep predicting going to happen?

Look at what counties have and have not reported.

This.

You guys need to chill the fuck out.

The people posting (or about to post) their meltdown/worries... Don't. You're not helping the situation and only spreading your anxiety to others which is greatly unappreciated. If three hours from now things look bleak then you can go ahead but right now this is still fairly early and things could change. Relax, take things with a grain a salt, and stop with the sky is falling routine.
