Maybe we can hope Trump just dies from illness while in office?

Dark to say, but that's really the only light I can think of.

People have to realize there are millions of people out there who can't even use PCs or any type of electronics. These same people are watching Fox News and the likes. They are the same people who see the country in it's current state and want change. And then you have people no matter who is running against Hillary they will vote against her just because they don't like her.

They can't use computers or electronics but they have cable TV so therefore they can operate a tv or a cable box?

Get ready.

Boy we about to have a repeat of the Reagan years. This will fuck America for the next 50 easily.

Good job everyone.

Good job "Not voting" crew
Good job "Third party" vote
Good job "Bernie or Bust" vote.

You did it!

CNN overjoyed that Clinton won Cali. Like she wasn't going to lol

Then again, with all of the other surprises, I guess they just wanted to celebrate something.

He still got it wrong, but less wrong.

Polling as we currently know it is dead. Between Brexit and this, it's obvious that current polling methodology is fundamentally flawed.

No. It's not often that you're going to have a candidate that a significant number of people are ashamed to admit supporting.

Has been 100% true since slavery ended.

Worked to perfection in colonized African nations too. Give people a little power contingent upon their devotion and give them someone to look down upon and they will follow you like the most faithful of dogs.

Hell, it even worked during slavery as masters pitted house slaves against field slaves with many house slaves being willing to fight and die for their masters.

Preach.

My prediction:

Economy will take a turn for the worse. Massive layoffs where I work (we're already under partial shutdown).

I fully expect to lose my job from layoffs in the next 12 months.

If that happens, I'm done with this state. I'll sell the house and move somewhere nicer.

Totally shit outcome if you happen to be gay, female, or non-white though. Probably about to lose some rights.

Regardless of what happens I hope that people can attempt to work together to try and make things better but looking at this thread I feel like theres going to be a ton of animosity so thats probably out.

The problem is Trump and the GOP don't deal in facts, it's all emotion and bullshit.

Not so much Trump's victory as Hillary's failure.

The meltdowns, currently ongoing, rage at those who dared vote for anyone not Clinton, but a stronger Dem candidate would have won by a landslide. Moderate republicans were there for the taking and she messed up.

I think Bernie would have been better.

I'm going to go on a long rant here and I'm sure in this fast moving thread no one will read it, but it's going to be at least a little cathartic. I'm also going to put this forum on blast a bit.

You know, I'm just going to take a moment to say that some of us tried to warn so many of you. The whole "social justice warrior" online movement or whatever you want to call it that this forum in particular has come to be dominated by. Shame and spite do not do anything to help one's cause.

Unrepentantly calling all white people racists and bigots and sexists and misogynists is what brought this on. I've joked on here about voting for and supporting Trump, but god knows I never actually did. But I've always been able to at least sympathize with those "deplorables" for the blatant hypocrisy on the left when it comes to all of those social issues that dominate social media these days.

too many people on the left, and on GAF especially, remind me of the conservatives in the years following 9/11 under Bush. Everything was viewed through a polarizing, black and white filter. You are either with us or with the terrorists. You are either a ____ist or you're not.

You can't demonize and shame people and expect they'll agree with you. They'll only dig their heels in further, especially if they feel attacked.

This is some real truth here, folks:
All the people who are very likely or even (ugh) probably going to put Donald fucking Trump in the White House tonight are not voting because they hate women or blacks or mexicans or whoever else. I'm also not saying that the hatred isn't a factor, because it's been shown repeatedly that at least on some level it's an animating force for all of this... but people are complex animals but you've turned them into cartoon villains and stereotypes without every trying to understand them or why they actually feel the way they do.

Polarization is bad. The right has been polarized for a long time, but now the left is too, and it's biting them back hard tonight. If Trump wins and has the House and Senate behind him, this is literally the end of America as we know it and the beginning of a new BRIC nation world alignment. That's really fucking bad.

Thank you for your post and couldnt agree more. though it may fall on deaf ears right now.

GAF, you fucking promised this wont happen. You fucking promised. You laughed at anyone that said this could happen.

Fuck this. I feel sick.

well, Germany had Hitler

Hopefully, like Germany, America just needs to get this evil out of its system and then it can move on. Realistically though, I'm worried that this signifies a trend toward right-wing politics that will continue for a very long time.
