I'm going to go on a long rant here and I'm sure in this fast moving thread no one will read it, but it's going to be at least a little cathartic. I'm also going to put this forum on blast a bit.

You know, I'm just going to take a moment to say that some of us tried to warn so many of you. The whole "social justice warrior" online movement or whatever you want to call it that this forum in particular has come to be dominated by. Shame and spite do not do anything to help one's cause.

Unrepentantly calling all white people racists and bigots and sexists and misogynists is what brought this on. I've joked on here about voting for and supporting Trump, but god knows I never actually did. But I've always been able to at least sympathize with those "deplorables" for the blatant hypocrisy on the left when it comes to all of those social issues that dominate social media these days.

too many people on the left, and on GAF especially, remind me of the conservatives in the years following 9/11 under Bush. Everything was viewed through a polarizing, black and white filter. You are either with us or with the terrorists. You are either a ____ist or you're not.

You can't demonize and shame people and expect they'll agree with you. They'll only dig their heels in further, especially if they feel attacked.

This is some real truth here, folks:
All the people who are very likely or even (ugh) probably going to put Donald fucking Trump in the White House tonight are not voting because they hate women or blacks or mexicans or whoever else. I'm also not saying that the hatred isn't a factor, because it's been shown repeatedly that at least on some level it's an animating force for all of this... but people are complex animals but you've turned them into cartoon villains and stereotypes without every trying to understand them or why they actually feel the way they do.

Polarization is bad. The right has been polarized for a long time, but now the left is too, and it's biting them back hard tonight. If Trump wins and has the House and Senate behind him, this is literally the end of America as we know it and the beginning of a new BRIC nation world alignment. That's really fucking bad.

Absolutely agree. The sense of liberal smugness that we've seen for the past few years, the silencing tactics that we've seen deployed, the whole notion that they're right because they say they're right...I think all of that is coming home to roost right now. This is America saying no, we reject that.

I really don't want Trump to win, but at the same time jeez christ CNN. You can feel how desperate they are getting ... truly unbiased journalism.

It is wholly unfair to equate Trumps potential win to racism and that all his voters are racist. This kind of extreme rhetoric is exactly was alienated many voters from the middle and pushed them towards Trump. Same with the media constantly bashing of him.
The sooner people realise this the better.

That's not true. People in the UK had been warning people in the US ever since Brexit. It's going to happen, the closet racists/bigots and the uneducated will come out in force, don't have faith in your fellow countrymen, go out and do your part. Make the right vote to prevent it happening. Don't protest vote, now is not the time.

People didn't listen, and this is what happens. If people were able to vote in swing states but didn't, then they deserve whatever shitstorm is about to hit them. People were warned about the possibility, people were warned not to be complacent and just think "ah, it won't happen".

"Nobody saw it coming" isn't true, a lot of people wanted to hide their head in the sand and hope the problem would go away.

Trump's own party didn't see this coming, they genuinely thought they were going to lose based on the polls. All the polls didn't see this coming. If you saw this coming, it was a guess or gut feeling.

Jim Webb was the best bet, real cool dude (met him here in VA before) and honest man, you can think the DNC for this mess, seriously, like I said, money and power, all parties I know have it, and want to use it, but seriously, that is why trump is going to win, people fed up with the whole system

Jim Webb for sure could have beaten Trump. The dude even said "All Lives Matter" at a debate.

I heard he went Independant afterwards tho

The future is also extremely bleak for the democrats. The fact that the senate and congress is republican with Trump at the head means that next election is going to be bad,

Not so much Trump's victory as Hillary's failure.

The meltdowns, currently ongoing, rage at those who dared vote for anyone not Clinton, but a stronger Dem candidate would have won by a landslide. Moderate republicans were there for the taking and she messed up.

Yup.

About to liquidate my portfolio and throw it under the mattress, because there's no way this is going to go well.

I just hope if Trump wins he can do just a shitty enough job to not ruin the country but no one is going to want him in 4 years and we can have someone like Warren come take the throne.
It doesn't matter how shitty a job he does. Do you see the Republicans losing the senate and house for their shit?

Wait a second, so trump just won the presidency, with basically NO plan what so ever to fix basically anything?.

is that right?

Trump claims he's gonna boost the economy and "bring back jobs" but rarely ever explains how that's gonna happen.

One thing he has said is he'll put big tariffs on Chinese and Mexican exports and pull out of NAFTA, but those are more likely to tank the economy if anything.

I am so sad for you americans. And everybody else as well. Please fix your terrible electoral system to avoid getting in this situation again.

He's going to appoint two justices to the supreme court. That will cause damage for decades. Imagine Citizens United times a thousand.
