What does this mean for republicans going forward seeing how Trump is resonating with Americans? Does this mean we'll see copycat candidates using Trump methods? Is this the new direction they're forced to go with because it's obviously working for them?


It's like the Trump supporters came out in droves while Hillary supporters thought the game was already won before the polls even opened. It's like Obama 08 but for Trump. He's getting a lot of votes in these record turnouts

I'm not american and I'm worried about the economy crashing. You people lose a payment of your huge houses and its we in the 3rd. world that start living in shacks.

Also I guess the tax treaty with my country is not gonna advance, that hurts me directly :/

The people saying that Trump won because the left drove away decent caring people need to really think about what they're saying.

Trump won because us SJWs were right about "moderate" Americans all along. There's no more convincing argument against racism/xenophobia/sexism than a Donald Trump presidency, and those people weren't swayed. They were never going to be swayed, no matter how "nicely" we worded our criticism or how silently we protested.

There's no more doubt about what half of America actually thinks about women and minorities now, we don't need to pretend anymore.

too many people on the left, and on GAF especially, remind me of the conservatives in the years following 9/11 under Bush. Everything was viewed through a polarizing, black and white filter. You are either with us or with the terrorists. You are either a ____ist or you're not.

You can't demonize and shame people and expect they'll agree with you. They'll only dig their heels in further, especially if they feel attacked.

This is some real truth here, folks:
All the people who are very likely or even (ugh) probably going to put Donald fucking Trump in the White House tonight are not voting because they hate women or blacks or mexicans or whoever else. I'm also not saying that the hatred isn't a factor, because it's been shown repeatedly that at least on some level it's an animating force for all of this... but people are complex animals but you've turned them into cartoon villains and stereotypes without every trying to understand them or why they actually feel the way they do.

Polarization is bad. The right has been polarized for a long time, but now the left is too, and it's biting them back hard tonight. If Trump wins and has the House and Senate behind him, this is literally the end of America as we know it and the beginning of a new BRIC nation world alignment. That's really fucking bad.

Gap is increasing again in MI and Wisconsin. It's not going to swing. They won't call it as they're about half way through the voting there. But it is done.

Nevada is going red. I'm calling it now. Just 10,000 have voted with over 8,000 of them going for Trump. Not that it matters anyway, but had she won Michigan and Wisconsin, she needed Nevada.

I'm a straight, white, middle class male. Nothing Trump does will affect me in any meaningful way. I also live in Kansas, which was always going republican no matter what I did.

And yet, for the first time in my life (I'm 26) I felt compelled to go vote. And I did. Because I didn't want to see that racist, sexist shitstain of a human being be president.

I feel like absolute shit, and I'm one of the people who will be least affected by any of the fucking garbage he does.

What is wrong with this god damn country.
