I fear so many people are going to get killed in this month alone after this election. America is a fucked up place. Stay safe guys. Four years of Trump is not the end of the world.

FWIW all of you over there have my deepest sympathies. Being in the UK I'm stuck with a Brexit I didn't want, there's some really rough years coming for both countries I think. My friends recently had a child and Brexit was an instant concern for them as parents too.

What do you think will happen when Trump does nothing against climate change for 4 years? What do you think will happen when Trump repeals Obama care and millions of americans will lose their health insurance? What do you think will happen when Trump implements his tax plan that only benefits rich people and hurts the poor and middle class? What do you think will happen when he tries to implement his protectionist economic policies, the types of policies that have never worked and always destroyed jobs and growth? What do you think will happen when he starts bombing ISIS, the guys who hide amongst innocent people? Who do you think these innocent people who will lose their loved ones in collateral damage will blame? They'll blame the guys who fired to rockets. This isn't how you fight terrorism, this is how you create it.

Do you just want to watch the world burn or are you just grotesquely misinformed and delusional?

If you're right, and Mike Pence is the power behind the throne, that still means inaction on climate change that kills millions upon millions, and it still means a foreign policy that pushes us closer to nuclear war.

What have I said that's bigoted! All I've said is he clearly won the election and had a good campaign. I've actually been quite consistent on this. I don't agree with his politics but what have I said that's 'bigoted'?

I feel so bad for women in the US. What message is Trump sending to young, influential boys in red states growing up? The most powerful man in the world can talk trash about women, their genitals, their owing him something.

Why should they act any different, from their point of view? Absolutely terrifying.

The only thing to do is wipe the blinders off, wipe the smug off, burn it all on a pyre, accept that we were wrong in our assumptions and take a long hard look at the reality of the situation.

There's a clarity to that, but I won't deny that I'm shook to the core. What small progress we made with the Paris accords is shit now.

I just want to respond in the hopes others see this. We have survived bad times and this is no different. We'll see what happens 4-8 years from now. I'm hoping it's all good.

Lots of people voted for Hillary. Dems weren't complacent. Trump's message just appealed to the rural white vote. Don't think any Dem, not Bernie even, could counter that.

Is it fair to say that US presidential election polling is more mature than Brexit polling? Is it safe to say that it has been used to predict with some degree of accuracy in past elections?

As horrible as this all is, I can't wait to see the post mortem.

My sister's field is Environmental Science. Given how the Republican party seems to treat that sort of field, I'm really worried about her getting a job now.
 
This is when democracy fails... Why do people hate Hillary so much? America was looking good for a while. Everything Obama has done will go to waste. Trump will get rid of Obama care and people will suffer.

I'm sad for Americans. When all it takes in winning elections is to call other people names and insult them and blame them for things they didn't do. You can win just from that.

This is why I do talk to many people.
