Voting trump may not mean you're a racist, sexist bigot but it does mean you're supporting one becoming the POTUS. Supporting someone so outwardly sexist and racist into holding such a position of power means you are supporting racism and sexism. Not only are you not fighting against these prejudices you are actively supporting them. As far as I'm concerned that essentially means you're supporting those things whether intended or not.

Now I'm not saying that the democrats should focus on this for their campaign. Much like With brexit I think attacking trump and his supporters has only encouraged people to vote for him and played into his hands claiming about conspiracies. I'm just talking about individuals trying to rationalise away the consequences of their actions. Whatever your personal beliefs are if you voted trump then you support racism, sexism and bigotry. Whether or not you're actually sexist or racist doesn't matter in the ends because you're empowering those who are which is essentially the same thing.

This is a very agreeable post. Deprioritizing racism or ignoring it, or simply not seeing it is a symptom of ignorance. This is what we need to focus on, why this will lead to bad consequence for everybody, not why people are evil for buying into any part of the Trump package. I'm sure a lot of them will come around, albeit a little too late.

dude just took PA

I ain't saying Clinton shouldn't have been the pick but.....DNC needs to hold this L and do some thinking. No way PA should have been lost like that.

Depressing seeing all the big cities, and areas with universities (in wis, Madison, eau Claire and Milwaukee...in PA, philly and Pitt) all very blue but rural and out state areas almost all red driving the states backwards.

"I was gonna stop supporting Trump, but then Hilary called me mean words and those minorities refused to educate me about why they should have equal rights. Also, for the record, I'm not a racist, I just support one."

Basically Obama's presidency is about to be erased. Everything he did will be undone and then some. 8 years of progress gone. Fuck.

Whelp. People are dumb, confirmed. It'd be fun to watch the next 4 years of economic mayhem if I wasn't living in the middle of it.

You are okay with enabling and empowering racism and bigotry. You are just as bad.

oh god.. I protested in St. Louis whenever Michael Brown was murdered by Darren Wilson.

I dislike police, and disagree with some of Trump's Agenda. Doesn't make me a racist or anything like that..

Ill stop talking, because I love this forum and I love the community. I just wanted to speak up..

I'm most certainly not, lol. I also voted for Romney. Now admittedly, I don't agree with the things from the past that people have brought up, but they are just that.. The past.

I liked Obama, but I just don't like Hillary. Something seems off about her to me.

No hate though. I just hate that I have to feel scared to say I'm voting trump.

Uh huh.

Yet you vote for a man who calls Mexican people "Liars, thieves, and rapists".

Uh huh.

Shocking to hear turnout was so bad among minority voters. More shocking to hear that even among minority voters Trump outperformed expectations.

I can't even watch any more. You fucked up America.

I'm fucking done, I'm going to bed. This has been the worst year in recent history and this is just icing on the shit cake.

God help us all.

We have a climate change denier as president of the USA. The world is fucked. Not even joking.

Anyone who voted for him should feel like shit for this.

Man what a fucking blowup.

I did my part, the rest of the country fucked up -- Maybe the west coast will keep its momentum going and won't lose all of what they fought so hard for in terms of healthcare, gay marriage and legalized weed.

I don't think Donald Trump is going to be able to do half the stuff he promised(like banning Muslims and building a wall) but what sickens me is the fact that some people voted for him thinking that he would be able to and that stuff like that is a good idea.

I really despise Clinton so in a way I'm just really happy she's not in the white house.

Trump tho? I guess this will show if the president actually has any power. Hopefully not.

I'm Canadian tho. Good luck usa gaf.

Yeah, I voted for him in the state of Florida and I'm glad I did. And I generally kept quiet about it because if we showed support for him we are immediately accused of being racist, sexist, or some other awful title even though we aren't. We are tired of the status quo and corruption in the US government. Trump isn't the ideal choice, but he is a whole hell of a lot better than Clinton and the status quo that the majority of America is tired of. #DrainTheSwamp #BuildThatWall

I understand if you don't want to get into it because you don't want to get dogpiled, but in what way do you think Trump's administration will be less corrupt than previous ones?

Purely anecdotal, but I can't help but contribute most of this nonsense leading to a Trump victory to American religious fervor.

The amount of people I've seen stand by Donald Trump despite everything he's said because he "stands" for the "Christian" party and pro-life is astronomical.

I can't believe America voted in Donald Trump. Everyone failed at every level. Media, education, common sense ... they all lost and will continue to lose unless something drastic is done.
