As much as I love Bernie, he would have no chance against Trump.

Remeber America is afraid of fuck of the boogy man Socialism. Even if Bernie could never ever instill real socialism in this country.

In my serious opinion, 2016 has been the worst year I have ever experienced despite the Cubs winning the World Series. So much bad and crazy shit happened this year and to make it even worse with a Trump victory.
 
The fallout from this election will be mind boggling.

Like, you could fill up a whole dictionary sized book on what the fuck happened, and what is happening.

It actually does have something to do with Hilary Clinton, but honestly that doesn't matter since a lot of it was out of her control (sans the email thing stuff which ended up mattering far more than it should have). The decades long smear campaign paid off. And what good is the blame game gonna do anyway? Need a fix it plan, not blame. Hindsight is 20/20

I'd not be quite as sad as i am about a Trump presidency if the vice wasn't Pence. People are freaking out about Trump, but with him + the Supreme court noms...I was thinking about proposing to my bf if living together for a while worked out, and now I am not sure i will be able to. What will LBGT+ and/or minority rights look like 2 years from now under a Trump/Pence presidency? 4? I am not even mad. I just feel tired. And what are the Dems gonna do about it? What is going to change for the better even if Trump and Pence only last 4 years? The damage is already going to be done by then.

This forum has been extremely intolerant of Trump supporters, and refuse to listen to listen and read, and instead label "racist". That doesn't work.

I wanted her to be president after she defeated Bernie, I wanted a woman to hold the highest office in the world, but she wasn't a good candidate for these times. I remember a conversation with a friend and she said something that gave me pause, she said that she can't understand Hillary at times, but Trump was rather easy to understand. This is true, Hillary wasn't able to connect with the average american as well as Trump, her message is obviously better but the transmission is worst. Trump simplistic eloquence allowed him to connect with folks on those non-urban areas of the US and also many people that aren't as well versed as others in the extent of the language. This disconnect between politicians and the public claims another victim. Politicians should be studying this shit and try to understand this to weave an effective message.

If you think about it, Trump fucking #MAGA works cause how simple it is and cause it allows its supporters to co opt the message cause they can claim ownership of it, Hillary's "I'm with her" makes the election about her, how she is capable, prepared and all, but it isn't pushing a narrative as simple as as personal to the voters as fucking #MAGA.

No. the DNC shoved the preferred candidate in our faces. People here on GAF shouted Bernie supporters down with condescending remarks and snark.

People want anti-establishment. Radical change. No more dishonesty, greed, and status quo because it's not working completely. WE HAD BERNIE. But for whatever reason, this board gravitated to Hillary, the Primary closed and the ship sailed. She's too corrupt. Too in special interest pockets. And Bernie supporters couldn't fall in line.

I've been saying it since the Primary.

While I'm sure some will be emboldened, it's not generally tolerated in many areas, even those that would have voted for Trump. What really happens is on the backside where minorities are going to get shafted with policy decisions, maybe not even from specific malice but because the people in charge do not care about those issues or the fallout of their decisions. And this won't be because Trump, but local governments and the senate.
 
Johnson was formerly a Republican governor and his Libertarian ideals align much more easily with the right than the left- if he stole votes from anyone, it was Trump.
 
I've posted this sentiment elsewhere but I'll put it here anyways:

This is devastating. This is the worst night of my life. But I'm gonna keep fighting. There's too much at stake to give up. I've met so many good people volunteering for the Hillary campaign last few months, and I'm gonna fight for them because I believe in the goodness of people.

That said, nearly everyone around me was saying way less people came out to vote. I think many Democratic supporters just figured no way Trump would win so why the fuck go out and vote, meanwhile Trump supporters really latched on to the idea that more than ever every vote will count as everyone and their pets will be out there voting against Trump.

Also, the media...oh the media, my goodness, they all but called this election weeks if not months ago which made many complacent.

Yep. Clinton ran a campaign of "I am not Trump" instead giving reasons to show up to the polls. Clinton is a weak candidate and saying you should vote for her for the first woman president was dumb. Biden ahould have been the candidate.
