Our new future. Trump winning give the deplorables a voice.

Yeah you believe that.

The takeaway from this election, and the thing we all probably underestimated, is how easily and fiercely stupid people can be mobilized, as evidence by the sudden surge of Trump supporters popping up in this thread. I would love for anybody who supports or voted for Trump but swears they aren't ignorant and/or a racist to give me one policy or position of his, just one, that you agree with or support that A) isn't rooted in some kind of hate, bigotry, or racism or b) is an ACTUAL position, and not just him saying "it'll be great I'll fix it i promise"

Go ahead, I'll wait.

I do actually think a huge chunk of voters had nothing to do with race and more, "Hilary is gonna take my damn guns and Trump is gonna give us jobs!"

Obviously none of that is accurate, but there are a ton of people out there that aren't educated at all. I've been seeing Hilary is gonna take my guns posts every day on Facebook for months.

That's not to say some of this isn't racism. It surely is, but I don't think its the whole story. I think the absolute gun love in America is a huge story flying under the radar in elections. There is a batch of this country that will never vote Democrat no matter what because they think they will instantly have their guns taken away.

Keep in mind there are more guns in this country than people. That is a MASSIVE storyline that hasn't been talked about going into this election hardly at all.

You guys realize Trump even as president cannot just make ridiculous decisions right? Really blows my mind reading some of the things you guys say. There are laws, congress is in place to vote his ass right out of he does anything crazy. The president doesn't have THAT much power, he still has to get everything passed.

Yep, but don't let facts get in the way of a good story.

Hyperbole: The Thread

So the electoral college is basically useless.

The EC votes in December. That's the EC's moment to shine -- this is what they're specifically designed for. They've been waiting over 200 years for their moment and this is it.

But I'm not holding my breath.

Pretty much the same feeling I have. This forum is a pretty great example of people trying to rip out the throat of anyone who disagrees with them or has a different opinion. I am about as anti-Trump as a person can be but some of the stuff I've read on here has been as vitriolic as the things I hate that come out of the the Trump side.

Turns out, dismissing and talking shit about other Americans who don't have the same background as you isn't a good way to win hearts and minds. Who'd have thunk it. And now we're fucked (even if she pulls this off, we're fucked -- the disenfranchised masses are out there).

And to people saying Bernie would have won: LOL. Good lord. No wonder we're in this situation.

Pretty much this.

As a European my heart breaks for this. I am so disappointed in America that I can't even find the words to express myself. I feel so bad for the democrats who did their best to stop this. Just don't give up, you'll get through this. Trump has the field now and will be exposed for the failure that he is.

Fuck the people saying "show some class", it might not effect you, but for many minorities, our rights could very well go to shit. Democratic party were obviously crazy for selecting a female to run, they should just go with a white man next time - rural America is still living in the 1900s

Every time someone posts "should have nominated Bernie" or "Bernie would have flattened Trump", I am getting a sense of "I RATHER LET A RACIST WIN THAN HAVE THAT FLAWED WOMAN IN OFFICE"

I am getting a sense that a lot of people have the mind set of letting minority groups get run over by a bus cause Bernie wasn't nominated.

Yeah it's not that Hillary is a failure of a candidate.

I've been saying that throughout this whole thread. But I do think he has a point there. Many are talking about race for obvious reasons, but I think the issues that the country has with gender may be larger than it does with race.

You don't need the majority to be really disruptive in the senate. You can use parliamentary tricks to extend debate forever on a bill and disallow it from ever being voted on unless 60 votes are made for cloture. This is what the GOP did to everything last time they were in the minority.

I'm curious if the democrats will return the favor and maybe help slow down or stop the republicans.
Reid said dems would invoke the nuclear option to get rid of the filibuster if they took back the Senate. If the Republicans do that as they hold the Senate, dems are fucked

Enough with the doom and gloom

I've still got positivity in my heart.

It's gonna be neck and neck, but I've got at least some fucking hope yet.

One of the absolute worst things about this is that the Republican Congress that refused to DO THEIR FUCKING JOB for nearly a year is not going to see any penalty, only reward for their actions.

It was a good strategy in a scorched earth kind of way.

I don't know where we go from here.

So the Republican party just learned it can win by being racist.

What does this say about the parties future? About America?

Not that I think it's actually possible, but he tapped the manufacturing jobs that were lost in coal country as an example and promised that it'd come back while Hillary said too bad, those jobs are gone forever. Who'd you vote if you were one of the people affected?
Hillary, because I'm able to see the bigger picture.

I'm done for the night, disappointment doesn't describe my feelings as a Mexican American. You wanted change America? You picked the worst candidate possible. Ignoring his racist, sexist, dumb views... whats his actual plan to do anything he's promising? I haven't been able to find shit on how he's gonna deliver anything. The only thing he's gonna do is ruin current relations and help corporations. Great job!

So a bullshit fake position with no actual substance or plan that tricked a bunch of tubes? That doesn't answer my question.
