This was more of the country course correcting from everything the past 8 years then just voting for trump. He's just the final conclusion of it all

You can say we have "regressed" back to the "mean" in terms of social viewpoints unfortunately.

Michigan gap is closing again. Clinton picked up Muskegon and Marquette. Marquette is probably the least rural part of the UP.

If Trump becomes the President, and by the looks of things it looks likely, then at the very least the US can't lord over its brand of democracy anymore in the rest of the world.

Because your brand of democracy has a man like Trump in a likely winning path towards becoming your president, US.

Damn man, unbelievable.

That's really funny actually.

Dow Futures is down over 800 points.

For context the largest loss was -777. Futures lost 684 the day after 9/11

Safe to say the "free world" is not happy with how the election is going

The republicans blocked Obama's SCOTUS nominee for 8 months and signaled that they would permanently block any nominee to the supreme court from a potential president Clinton.

The quesiton must be asked -- How disruptive will democrats be in the senate? Can they force a 60 vote requirement on anything and everything like the GOP has done over the last 8 years?

Yknow, I could pile on like the million other posts, but I think these are the millions of Americans who swung the vote who you didn't hear from in the "do you know any Trump supporters...?" Threads.

I'm flabbergasted tonight, disappointed and worried for people who will truly suffer under a Trump presidency and an emboldening by the alt right, but I think we were all naive and stupid too. Too much back patting, too much thinking we're so smart and sophisticated, and everybody else is a racist misogynist. Those things may be true. Many Trump supporters are probably racist mysgonists, but the mentality lost us an election that was supposedly a sure thing.

Maybe that's just my anger and disappointment talking though. I've never been so wrong about an election in my life.

I don't think there is anything the average democratic voter could have done differently to sway the results. Hillary was just the wrong candidate for this election.

My sincerest, deepest condolences to every Clinton voter out there who's going to have to suffer through this shit.
2016 is really a shit year and the world really feels darker.

True. A completely red Senate and House doesn't bode well though. Also judge pick.

The pick will be replacing Scalia, though. So it's not like the court could possibly get more conservative, since it would be replacing the 2nd most conservative member (Thomas being the first).

The only liberal supreme court member that seems like to have health issues is Ginsburg and I imagine the Democrats could filibuster any sort of replacement (not unlike what the Republicans have done)

Yeah actually looking at his post history, I think he may have been. Too late now though, he's been banned. Even if he was joking, he should have known it wouldn't read that way in this thread.

It was painfully obvious sarcasm, but the election has the board in mass panic mode. I hope it wasn't a perm.

Serious question: If marriage equality SCOTUS is over turned, does that mean the states that previously had it also can't continue to give marraige licenses to LGBT couples?

I don't think it will happen but I imagine authority to grant licenses will return to the states instead of a ban.

Nah, you don't get to lecture me or anyone else on how we are supposedly responsible for inequality or that we are racist. Keep living in your absurdly manufactured reality where you can paint all republicans with such a broad brush. This is exactly the outcome you all deserve for mislabeling and generalizing so many people.

So then what the fuck are you then if you vote for a fucking racist?

You can't vote for David fucking Duke then tell me you ain't fucking intolerant.

Not going to enjoy seeing the market tank tomorrow if he wins. At least I've hedged with gold and Bitcoin I guess.

If you're young, it's an opportunity. All that's happening is that the markets assumed Clinton would win. Trump in the position he's in is creating uncertainty.

I plan on buying in the next couple of days. Just like Brexit, people will calm down in a couple of days and then back to normal. I made some decent money after Brexit, I expect this to be the same.

It looks like Nevada was called for Clinton. I thought people were saying that was unlikely. I"M STILL HOLDING OUT HOPE FOR HUMANITY!!

Why not? If Republicans are literally pushing policies that regressed what was pushed, I want to know why you support it.
Trump is not perfect, not even great. He doesn't really represent me or my views, as I am a moderate. But having a criminal villain and member of the Clinton crime family in the White House is something I cannot abide. And that is how the majority of America voted.

Fuck blaming third party voters. They were at least enthusiastic about their candidate and clinton was supposed to have this like 90%.

Clinton killed the Democratic party.

At least 4 million people voted for third parties. They didn't lose Clinton a lot, but they were arguably responsible for her losing Florida and Pennsylvania. Terrible!
