God damn. I'm barely able to absorb the title of this thread.

While it certainly did not go the way I wanted it to (and of course I voted), at this point the only thing we can hope for as a country is that Trump is literally not as insane as he has been the entire primary and that he actually surrounds himself with more sane people to limit his crazy ideas and ground him in reality.

As a democrat, I have to say that the party is in the fucking toilet right now. Republicans may have an unbelievably huge identity crisis and in-fighting on their plate, only grown by tonight's win of a candidate the "establishment" never thought would have a real chance, but they have all of the power. They can figure that shit out over the next 2 and 4 years. Democrats are going to be fucking hanging in there, tooth and nail for the next few years to at the very least limit the amount of repealing Trump will want to do with what Obama has done for the past 8 years. They have such limited power.

The DNC needs to really think about how they played the election this year, because this is a fuck up of massive proportions.

I honestly can't begin to guess where politics goes from here. The entire structure is gone, Clinton almost certainly will be the last candidate to fit the old mold. What, and who, comes next is going to change the nature of discourse to unrecognizable degrees.

The internet has had a larger impact on our culture than we ever wanted to admit, and I feel like this is really the point where we past the line between the old culture and the new.

Obama tapped into it a bit, but not like this.

Still waiting for that sweet sound of glass shattering...

No you don't.

What you need is reason, logic, and compassion.

America has LITERALLY disposed of this.

Save me the boohoos for me. I want to live in an accountable society, and I believe America may never be this.

Fuck. This. Country.

I really feel for you guys - I know your pain.

I went through exactly the same emotions when my country voted for Brexit earlier this year =(

2016 is going down in history as the dumbest year in Western Politics.

Your country is completely fucked.

Congratulations you complete idiots.

My state (California) did me proud. But that is a very, very, VERY small consolation. My country just elected the least qualified president in history. A man who won on a platform of fear mongering and bigotry. And we lost the fucking senate and house. This is a nightmare.

I just cannot comprehend this. I cannot believe that this is happening. This feels like a different reality, a terrible nightmare.

Nah, the insanity of Brexit won't ever happen in the USA. Nope. Not ever.

We fucking warned you and you've outdone us. I don't think even we'd go far as to elect a shit head like that as leader.

where are you from? can you please house me?

lol

I'm from the UK. We've got racist shit heads running the place here too.

I wanna post something but I'm sure that everything I wanna post gets me banned.

So let me just say that I'm way past dissapointed now.
I'm basically the Super Sayian version of dissapointed.

This is really scary, but I think you nailed it

It's a n**** wake up call. Let it be known what the masses think of minorities. Let it be known that none of that "racism is dying with the older generations" shit is true (white millennials came out for Trump). Finally a politician that 'speaks his mind' and goes beyond the coded language to accomplish white supremacy. The reality of this country has been unearthed

Yup it's a confirmation that this Country is inherently racist as FUCK and you should never forget it.

I said this on some other thread:

I feel like she can just say "Look at the other guy!" and be done with it, lol.

That her opponent is Donald Trump must have been a great blessing to her.

Hooolly shit how wrong I was.

I also said,

If, by some magic, Trump wins, I wonder how much ruckus it will cause. Both in GAF and the US in particular.

Can't believe now I am gonna truly see the answer to my wonderment above.

Hooolly shiit.

How the fuck did this even happen. I'm ashamed for you America. For the world. And even after Brexit people still want to watch the world burn further and destroy their futures

It's really another sad, sad day for humanity. Again a campaign fed on lies and hate wins out. You all saw it through Brexit yet you didn't stop it for yourselves.

Darker times ahead for everyone now.

any sad worried afraid americans are welcome to come to me in australia and bunk on my couch for a little bit on the condition that

a) you like beer
b) you dont arrive by boat

please pm to book a reservation

Wow........ I... I did not expect this. I fear what this will mean for next year when European elections start.

Good luck America. You are gonna need it.

Man what a surprise. This will change the fate of the world.. I hope that we all try to help and love one another in the trying times that are to come.

This is what happens when you have a complacent media that gives this man non-stop free advertising for a year, treats his bullshit spoutings as legitimate positions, and doesn't do its job of laughing at the clown until it was far too late.

Fuck the media.

honestly i don't really believe Trump will do all the crazy things he said he'll do this election. tearing down Obamacare will happen though

The end of American exceptionalism begun last night.

Unless Trump doesn't act out anything he has said to get elected.

Bush 2000 victory speech:

Common element of all four: They talked about policy and a vision for the country (all mentioned their team briefly, but then pivoted to policy). Trump's victory speech was more like an awards speech.
