This is my biggest fear. Just a few days ago we were talking about how there's no time left to act against global warming and how the US is essential so that it provides an example to other nations about the necessity to change policies... and now this. I think history will see this election as the beginning of the end for our civilization as we know it. This might have been the last nail in the coffin indeed.
Any chance the Electoral Collage rebels and votes in Hillary?
President is elected via the electoral college, so states have X number of votes that elect the POTUS. You win the state you get the votes (two states distribute differently are not fptp). The founding fathers put in it to protect the masses from themselves and to give each state a form of meaningful representation.
so where do dem voters go from here? i assume the dnc is already looking at potential picks for next time and hopefully preparing for midterms... or are midterms a lost cause?
So, we've already blamed SJWs, not being nice enough to racists, calling out Trump's flaws and the DNC for electing a woman so far. Please internet and GAF, do continue to reconfirm my newfound beliefs in a shitty humanity.
Personally I hope Donna Brazile is sent home packing. The whole DNC committee should resign. I supported the Democrats but the DNC is corrupt and failed big time.
Seriously. She lost to one of the worst, most unlikable candidates in American political history. This should have been an absolute landslide for anyone and she blew it.
it's a possibility tbh
It's not so easy to get into Canada guys, sorry.

What a disappointing election cycle. This is totally on DNC/Hillary. I don't blame the voters one bit because we clearly had two very poor options and negative public opinion has been known far before either got the nomination. It was a coin flip for all the wrong reasons and it seems only those living within the social media bubble believed a Hillary win was a certainty. It didn't help that these same people largely resorted to a bullying-first strategy when interacting with undecideds while claiming to represent a party of inclusionism and love. (this was extremely prevalent on gaf whether y'all want to admit it or not) Attacking people by calling them "racists/sexists/etc" is a sure fire way to have someone distance themselves from the conversation in favor of seeking alternative discourse.
As someone who has voted democrat for the last 12 years I hope that both the DNC and us left-leaning souls learn from this. We need to start being what we claim to represent.
it's a possibility tbh
Is it?
How is it possible? I need a detailed write up, because I'm having my first child in several months and I'm scared of this shitty ass country.
Well when we attempt to analyze Hillary's shortcoming and see where she mistepped we get people saying that she was flawless, Even after that trailing loss.
Hillary just wasn't a strong candidate for what the American public wanted. They wanted to turn the establishment on its head and Hillary was the establishment.
People who felt they didn't get the change they wanted from Obama are now attempting to see if Trump will make America great again.
It's okay, if Clinton won there wouldn't even be a 2018, Russia would have nuked us into a crater after Clinton declared war. This almost feel appropriate, especially after all the "Relax, he can't win." that GAF have been saying for the past 2 years.

Man I truly underestimated them big time.I realize Clinton was a bad candidate but what I misjudged so badly was how many white people were ok with a white supremacist, misogynistic platform. I don't know this America and it's scary.
2016 feels so surreal. Damm you, Berenstein!!! DAMN YOUUU!
Time to retreat into a virtual world.
The Supreme Court trending towards a conservative super majority says hi.
So Gore and Clinton won the popular vote
Time to abolish the EC yet?
can not have it both ways, just yesterday GAF was rejoicing in the fact Trumps path to victory was narrow to get 270 ECV....
if HC had won thanks to ECV, this argument would be shot down in a flash
So basically the votes for a candidate that didn't win the popular vote in a state are told to fuck off? Can't say I agree with such a system. The Electoral College.
If a candidate wins the popular vote in a state, they receive all electoral votes in that state, with a couple exceptions.
In most cases, the winner in electoral votes also wins the popular vote. But not always. Like this election, most likely, and the 2000 race.
The Electoral College system itself isn't really a problem. The issue is the "winner take all" rules that 48 states abide by. There is nothing stopping any of these states from changing this policy.
or just marry indo you have 10 mil in the bank to get an investor visa?
or make 40k a year that you could continue to make for sure while living in canada?
or have rare skills that are in demand?
if you can't answer yes to one of those then it likely isn't all that much of a possibility.
Is it?

America has had Republican governments before with questionable social policies but what is most affecting to me in the immediate sense is that Trump's victory serves as validation of his character and behaviour. That this is an ideal to strive towards, this is what it takes to be president. But maybe I'm placing too much value on propriety the of political leaders.
Any chance for an Obama recess appointment on the way out the door?
Wow. Fuck this country.
Unbelievable. Truly.
One thing is for certain, America got the president they deserve. Congrats Assholes.

I could go on, but hopefully you will read up on things yourself and come to a more mature understanding of the way the world works, and America's noble place in the international community.

Mourn today.
Start planning decency's clapback tomorrow. We will rise and be better for this.

you guys voted trump, you guya deal with it. Dont come to canada, we'd rather have real refugees !
Chaos reigns.
I'm just numb.
Why do I persistently feel the world as a whole will pay for this for years to come...
Help.
