For a long time I just couldn't wrap my head around why people thought Hillary was just as bad or worse than Trump but I have a theory now.

It's because Hillary's scandals are confusing and you have to read up on a lot of stuff to even understand what's she's being accused of.

Ding ding ding

On the other hand, Trump's problems are all out in the open and clear as day. Sexist, racist, doesn't pay taxes, gropes women. All of this is easy to understand.

America decided to vote on the evil that they know rather than the one that they don't.

Yep. I said the same thing to a friend of mine he other day.

Trump didn't really have many skeletons in the closet because his skeletons had been dancing out in the open for years. Long before he was running for President.

Better the devil you know.

We need to find another dividing line other than black/white/Asian/whatever.

Poor/middle class vs rich/corporate/elites is as much of the story this election as white supremacy vs a multiracial society.

so poor [white] people voted in a billionaire because that will empower them.

The majority of white women voted for Trump so either they are ok with this sentiment or don't care.

Not gonna defend Trump or his bigotry by a looong shot, but

Source: seriously

I also seriously heard Bernie "FEEL THE BURN" Sanders secretly worked with Trump to topple Clinton. PLEASE BELIEVE ME.

White voters from the rural areas came out to vote yesterday, because they saw a man they recognised on a TV show running for president, and he was promising them he'd get rid of and take care ofbrown and black people for them, after they had a black president for 8 years. That's what has happened, it's not about policy likeability.

I was going to say the same thing.

Majority of white women anyway, seem to be ok with being treated like 3rd class citizens. That's even more terrifying.

If it's tax avoidance and not tax evasion there will likely be no legal issues.

RE: Trump University - I don't recall if it was a tax avoidance issue so much as I believe there were civil suits being brought against him for it. Not criminal - http://www.politico.com/story/2016/11/donald-trump-court-university-231082

As far as tax returns, my theory (speculation on my part) is that there is some information that may lead to revealing that he's been having business dealings with less than savory characters in addition to gaming the system to avoid paying income taxes.

I think that was a factor, but one of many. She was faker than a $6 bill.

There's almost a bittersweet irony in the fact that a country largely built by slaves from Africa has its last president--or last before the office loses all dignity, anyway--in a black man.

Again it is not as simple as 'taking care of brown and black people'... most people are just hurting and he gave them a bunch of false promises.

Honestly Hillary's big crime for me right now was her complacency in the face of a candidate like Trump which is what lead to her defeat.
"Lol, who needs to visit Wisconsin? We have that state in the bag."

This is exactly right.

i think im slipping into a deep depression now. so much damage is gonna be done that goes completely counter to so much of the country.

Exactly.

Obviously, racism played a role. But broad-brushing everyone that voted for him as racist doesn't help. It marginalizes the non-racist white working class, and we need them. Not just because we're all in this together, but because we need their votes.

She visited Michigan, North Carolina, Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Didn't matter.

And said black president gets to have all his accomplishments invalidated by an older white dude

Yeah, that's a large portion of the bitter part.

I found out something troubling. All the women I know who voted for Trump are saying what finally swayed them was the '9 month abortion' bullshit.

I hold the media to the fire for that. They didn't spend anytime debunking the most nonsensical because they assumed everyone would know it was completely horse shit. They were wrong.

You hold the media to the fire on that? Hillary herself was on stage with him when he said it......

My fiancé and I were at a huge 1,000+ election party in DC last night. The mood quickly went from everyone having a good time to complete, and utter disbelief. DC voted 93% Hilary; I don't know if there were more than a handful of Trump supporters at the party. I still can't believe it, what is this.......

God, the thought of this dumbass coming face-to-face in geopolitical struggles against Ex-KGB tough-men, the Chinese political machine, and literal slave-drivers from the Middle East would be priceless were it not for the fact that my country's safety is on the line.

Both the great thing about social media and the curse.

Individual anecdotal messages like that are largely fine, and if they go viral so be it. However this election has been rife with false statistics and sources trying to act as reputable/journalistic just posting a tweet as proof is mind-blowing at times.

Just so I can get this last vestige of hope out of my mind, there is zero chance of the Electoral Delegates voting against Trump in December, right?

We can only hope it's enough to seriously damage the party. But at this rate, I'm not so sure anything will.

Republicans always come home. Always.

What if Trump suprises everyone and becomes a decent leader?

I mean, he's proven himself a narcissistic sociopath. So that would be quite the surprise. But I guess anything is possible.

Is it bad I want to start a letter writing campaign to get just a few of the electors to change their vote? It'd be a complete waste of time, but it would make me feel better.

A possibility of 7-2 SC Js in favor of conservatives.. Jesus christ

They are not all stepping down. 7-2 is worse case scenario. I will give you 5-4 because odds are that Ginsburg will step down before 2020. I think Kennedy and Breyer will hold on until at least the midterm elections but more like until after 2020.

I think the gay marriage decision is simply too entrenched into the country at this point and opponents have pretty much seen that it is not causing the country any harm. Maybe they will try, because it's obviously something Pence would champion. But i don't see the majority of Congress going along with it nor the SCOTUS even with a conservative replacement for Scalia.

They can fuck with Obamacare specifically because it does have problems that are affecting people negatively. Through their own obstructionism the GOP has a legitimate case to repeal Obamacare. They do not have the same luxury when it comes to gay marriage and equality.

"What's the Republucan party going to do now?" I said. "They're fucked, they're chained to a racist base that will keep nominating unelectable candidates and the establishment can't do anything about it."

LOL

"They'll split into two parties and the Dems will hold the executive branch until they can sort things out!"

Hyuck hyuck hyuck

Maybe if he was caught on a hot mic speaking in Russian to Putin and telling him that he was handing over Alaska on the day of his confirmation.

I dunno about gay marriage. People love God, Faith and USA. I think Trump would kick the can down the road forever and ignore them though. He will be economy first.

Just looked up this song and gave the lyrics a read. It really feels as if it's minorities talking to the rustbelt voters. It fit's so damn well.

One

Is it getting better
Or do you feel the same
Will it make it easier on you now
You got someone to blame
You say...

One love
One life
When it's one need
In the night
One love
We get to share it
Leaves you baby if you
Don't care for it

Did I disappoint you
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth
You act like you never had love
And you want me to go without
Well it's...

Too late
Tonight
To drag the past out into the light
We're one, but we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other
One...

Have you come here for forgiveness
Have you come to raise the dead
Have you come here to play Jesus
To the lepers in your head

Did I ask too much
More than a lot
You gave me nothing
Now it's all I got
We're one
But we're not the same
Well we
Hurt each other
Then we do it again

You say
Love is a temple
Love a higher law
Love is a temple
Love the higher law
You ask me to enter
But then you make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
To what you got
When all you got is hurt

One love
One blood
One life
You got to do what you should
One life
With each other
Sisters
Brothers
One life
But we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other

One...life

A co-worker of mine calls Trump a disgusting human being with complete disregard towards women.

.. A month ago he toward me that our accounts payable female would be great in bed.

You'll find a lot of hypocrisy when it comes to this.

People posting shit like "kill all white people" after the election ended for example.

This is honestly one of the most surreal moments of my life. It doesn't feel real. I honestly won't believe it until he's sworn in. I am dumbfounded.

"Trump crushed two political dynasties: the Bushes, and the Clintons."

Never thought about it like that. This was definitely an anti-establishment vote.
