Well the_donald probably thought he could win. However that is for the same reason some who thought Hillary was untouchable. Stepping too close to your political candidate of choice and believing your desire for them to win is factual proof they will. Belief doesn't always correlate to reality.
However it is indeed true even many "unbiased" sources hedged their bets on Clinton. Betting sites and what not included. When money and betting goes a certain way many pay attention lol.
I don't think a single Trump specific policy is going to pass.
Walls, Trade, this, etc.

I think that really only applies to people who are unaware of or ignore how fucked up and split up the US is. Once it was narrowed down to him, Rubio, Cruz, and Kasich I knew he'd be the GOP nom and felt at that point it was very possible he'd win, although of course hoping more would turn out to stop him.

I'm still waiting to see this Trump, he apparently is, away from the cameras. The people he surrounds himself with don't give me much hope.
that's not how polling works though. Sabotaging polls would require insiders inside the people conducting the polls and knowing when and where they would be conducting their research.
This right here is the only fucking hope I have because I have nothing else. But when you look at the potential cabinet, it just doesn't seem possible.

I always said that my biggest fear was those people who were undecided, that sit on the fence, are going to walk into that ballot booth, and with no one around, cast a vote for Trump, but then lie about voting for him after.
Because deep down, they just did not care for Hillary in the end.

His potential cabinet list is frightening. He wants to "bomb ISIS" and take oil in the region. Everything he has said regarding the rights of women, minorities, and the LGBT community, he doesn't believe in climate change and thinks it is a hoax, etc. But sure, keep saying he's not so bad.

The next four years are uncharted territory that no prediction can accurately describe what will happen. We could very well be in the darkest timeline. As someone of colour from the UK, I share you heavy burden and sadness of a country you wanted to believe in.

Remember you are citizens of a nation that affords rights to its denizens to combat any great evil or persons who threaten its democracy or the rights of its people. You nation was born, yes violently, through a great display of untity, togetherness and determination. One of the greates empires of its day could not best you. If that sovereignty is challenged again, your fellow citizens will rise to restore peace once more, even if the transgressor is one of your own. Will this president be that transgressors? I cannot say. Take comfort in the fact that you can take control of you nation if need be for the greater good.
You have seen great suffering, (slavery, civil rights, civil war, world war) yet always came out stronger, better and more driven to do good then ever before. Greater evils and greater challenges have taken hold of your great nation before, and each time you have beat the darkeness back.
A glimmer of positivity came from Trump today, surprisingly. He was calm, collected, gracious and even thoughtful in his speech. I hope against hope he is that person in his presidential term.
