Pokémon Sun & Moon |OT| Ultra Beasts and where to find them

Haven't read or watched any reviews, but I played Y with that being my first Pokemon game since blue and was disappointed at the fact that the formula hasn't changed in all those years. Is this more of the same?

I'm pissed. 3 hours down the drain.

Went to that social area castle thing. Game said it was connecting to the internet and that it was saving. I knew it wouldn't be able to connect because I didn't enter any WiFi settings for my area. Waited for the process to end, assumed it had saved like it said it had, left the game to open up the settings to connect to the WiFi, connected, opened up the game again, and it started me off from the beginning again.

I almost don't want to play the game now. The start is so damn boring and handholdy. Can't believe there's no dialogue question that's like, "have you played a Pokémon game before?", and skips the first 3 hours of the game.

Fuuuuuuuuck
Wait a second, is this just because you didn't save at all until that point or did it corrupt the save? Hope theres not any save glitches.

Anywayz: Played for about an hour and loving it! It actually has a story, a step up from XY! I had a male Popplio sadly, but don't wanna reset so I'll just pretend its a transgender one and it can't get its passport changed. Is quiet nature good for it? I wanna keep it for comp if I can.

Such good presentation, i just wish I could use the D-Pad and it auto runs.

How does character customization work in sun and moon. Can you change hair color or skin color later?

Hair yes. Skin no. There's a salon and a clothes store in the first city.

And save before you get a haircut if you want to see all the options. Once again, you can't preview each option before you select the one you want. It gets costly checking everything out.

I have one minor quibble from my first few minutes of playing. There's something I just don't like about the walk animation, it just feels weird, but I can't quite place why.

I suppose I'll grow used to it though.
Yeah, main character definitely walks a bit odd. Hau even comments on it at one point which I thought was hilarious

1 hour in and I feel like I've done nothing. Like someone said, there should be an option like "are you familiar with pokemon?" And it skips half of the beginning.

Thanks for the help and advice!

Ah so its commented upon? That makes it a bit better then. And like I said, I'll get used to it (or just hold down run. Which reminds me, for the love of god Game Freak, bring back the run/walk toggle button Heartgold/soulsilver had!)

How are you guys playing in terms of usable pokes. Are you only using the new Gen and do you count Aloha forms in thatbas well.

For the most part I plan on using only new ones, and I count in Alola forms as "new", though I may break the rules to allow Archen since I saw that's in the game and that is my favorite fossil pokemon.

Wow Yungoos has two great abilities. Not sure which one would be more useful, maybe Strong Jaw just for in game but Stakeout seems like it could be better for comp battles. Also has Adaptability. Its stats could be shit tho, no idea

Using only new Pokémon and Alolan forms, with the exception of Zygarde 10%. First time using a legendary in-game, but I've made an exception because:

- It's a cooler, new alternative to Flygon and Garchamp.
- It's technically a new Pokémon anyhow
- And it's base stats aren't broken like most legendaries; in fact, it's worse off than the alternatives I'd be using otherwise.

Does anyone know what the bar on the lower left side of the status screen of a Pokemon? Usually a number in the hundreds like "0/332"
Also how it works.

I've been out of the loop since a long time ago regarding game mechanics so I don't know what it's for.

Are people resetting for good starters for breeding purposes once the hidden abilities are available in the future or? I'm on the fence because I'd rather start trying to get good ones once the hidden abilities are available.

I can see it now, totem auras everywhere, Z moves everywhere. It's gonna be great. I'm really glad Gamefreak decided to get more creative with encounter design. In general, the battles in this game just feel memorable.

I don't think they'd be everywhere, but definitely present in all the boss battles and probably against Ace and Veteran trainers too. All pokemon catchable in it as well. I know it's going to be great.

Moon I went mixed, Sun will be Alola only. Kinda hard though, can't find 6 pokémons that I like.

I still think it's ridiculous. >:( Like, I can go by that name irl but not in a video game? :/

I understand that, just trying to give context.

Wait, there's a house like that? I have to check this out myself later...

First island if I recall correctly, don't remember the exact house.

Save right before you start the cutscene to pick your starter.

That plus text speed on Fast (if that helps) is no more than 4-5 minutes.

As a local living in Hawaii, I'm loving all these hawaiian references (Malasadas being the equivalent of donut here in Hawaii) albeit some are a little politically incorrect like the main character living in Hau'oli (Haole = White person outersider = Gaijin) outskirts. I'm sure the localization team knew what they were doing..
