Marvel vs. Capcom 4 not in development

raw

Badly need a sequel to Ultimate.

I really would like to see if Capcom vs (insert Japan big company here) could keep the appeal, working like a fake MvsC4.

I mean not everyone that play MvC series is a Marvel fanboy isn't?

I really want MvC4 but I know it's going to make me sad because I just know they'll neglect bringing back Spencer who was my favorite character in 3

Thats what i was thinking. Just keep the gameplay the same and find a more reasonable business partner.

Huh? This year's lineup is out? I thought it wasn't yet.

The teaser came out and a few Marvel 3 folks were like "WHENRE'S MARVEL!?" on it. So who knows if Marvel is gonna be in the line-up, but it certainly isn't in the hype-trailer for this year.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did push it out, given the game is "stagnant" and hasn't been super popular in like 2-4 years. Marvel not allowing Capcom to do a balance patch or anything also doesn't help.

Don't forget a potential mvsc would have no xmen, fantastic 4 and iffy spiderman representation since they are not part of the MCU.
disney/marvel have full control over spider-man, outside of the movies. thats why they are making a big budget ps4 game. he and miles moales would be in mvc4.

x-men and ff4 would probably be absent.
Supposedly Marvel may be easing up on those restrictions sometime next year, but it's just a rumor for now.

Though it's a shame that MvC4 isn't happening right now. Not surprising, but still a shame. Though to be fair, I doubt he'd say yes if it was, so it could go either way.

Basically like Tatsunoko then. I figured Capcom would be more inclined to do more of these with other properties, changing bits of the gameplay as they go but I guess not! Jump seems like an easy multi-platform option even if they went basic SF vs DBZ/Naruto before a Capcom vs Jump party. It's certainly something I'd be so down for as a fan.

Of course a new Marvel would be great!

Just for get a business partner at all and go full Capcom Vs Allstars. Put in a ton of Capcom characters, have full control and let it play just like MvC and it will be a hit with the fans. People aren't playing these games for the story or strong comic lore. Sure some fav marvel characters will be missed but the people who put in any reasonable amount of time to this game will come if the gameplay is intact.

Keep in mind these tweets are from the summer and Niitsuma also literally said he's not in that division of the company anymore. I'm confident the game has been under development for a while and we'll be seeing it soon (like, after Capcom Cup finals soon).

as soon as they announced that spider-man game for ps4 and were all like "we're totally coming back to console games in a BIG way", Marvel 4 was as good as confirmed

the time between marvel 2 and 3 felt way more hopeless. it'll happen, friends.

Pretty much this. Being in another situation where the license quickly expires and the game can no longer receive support is awful. DLC becoming unlisted is the absolute worst.

Capcom should make a capcom vs street fighter. Capcom IPs are filled with cool characters, they can easily create a fighting game like that.

Also gotta remember Niitsuma is kind of a lying son of a bitch anyway lol.

I learned that the hard way following MVC3's hype cycle.

Regardless if it's actually in development or not, he's not gonna confirm it on twitter. And for the record, Kobayashi similarly disconfirmed a new Sengoku Basara a month before Sanada Yukimura-den was announced. This stuff doesn't mean much.

While we're at it : Devil May Cry 5 is not in development.
Nor is Okami 2, Dragon's Dogma 2, or any kind of Mega Man game.

Capcom is a Resident Evil/Monster Hunter machine now.

Most likely it is in development. DMC was listed in their main pipeline for 2016-18 which included Dead Rising and other titles, DMC4SE sold well (and DMC HD Collection has done 1m. Keep in mind they greenlit RE2 Remake based on RE HD doing 1m), and Itsuno is working on a new project.

That last part is an exaggeration. They've released or are releasing new titles in all of their active franchises this year (SF, RE, DR, MH, AA, SB), and Ace Attorney and Sengoku Basara saw releases last year and in 2013 and 2014 respectively. While their releases this gen has been meagre, they are still making non-mobile games outside of those two franchises. Furthermore, only having two major franchises in rotation is not in line with their console business model.

As for Mega Man. They're likely working on a mobile/browser Mega Man game.

Probably not much in development at Capcom in general.

Depends what you mean by "much". So far this year they've released SFV, Ace Attorney 6, Sengoku Basara: Sanada Yukimura-den, Umbrella Corps, Monster Hunter Stories, Toraware no Palm, with Dead Rising 4, RE7, RE2 Remake, Monster Hunter XX and a bunch of mobile games based on legacy IPs in development. But Capcom is the smallest of the big Japanese publishers, so they're more limited in what they can work on.

MvC3 is so weird.

I thought it was onne of the most(if not the most) successful & widely played fighting games of Last gen.

Yet its in such a bad place now where Capcom cant even update/port/repackage it.

Maybe my initial impressions were misguided & it wasnt as successful as I thought.

Licensing issues, quality, and sales aren't the same thing.
TvC is better though.

Does that mean Niitsuma is no longer in the Home console division?

Capcom's divisions are:

Home Console
Online
Arcade
Mobile
Pachinko
Slot Machine
Film
i can only hope he's been relegated to mobile or pachinko. don't want him near mvc4 if it exists.

Obviously they are working on the PlayStation Vs Capcom game that will be announced at PSX alongside DMC5. Obviously.

Yeaaaah, Sony won't fund any other Capcom fighter. I know :(
