Pokémon Sun & Moon |OT| Ultra Beasts and where to find them

The whole stuff with Zygarde and the Cube feels so hamfisted and unnecessary.

They could have easily released "Pokémon Z" this year and then started gen 7 on the switch.

Ah well not like "Pokémon Z" would have redeemed Kalos and gen 6.

Yeah. I feel for poor Zygarde. I actually love the whole cells and cube and gathering the pieces thing, I also really like his formes but for fucks sake, Gamefreak. Give the little thing a bit of backstory and lore.

The whole "oh hey, there's this machine laying around here for no reason. You can use it to form Zygarde! See ya" was so lol worthy. No thought behind it at all.

Yeah, I decided to take pity on the poor thing by adding him on my Moon team but honestly it's kinda hard to care about Zygarde if Game Freak doesn't give a crap either.

Edit: Ended up deciding not to use Zygarde on my Moon team after all, instead Beware will take his place.

I really wish they had done some tweaking to the escape mechanic to take into account how slow most of the Alolan Pokemon are and how high level the wild ones can be. D

Boxed my Kadabra since I was so frustrated with being cheated out of Confusion. Gonna raise a Cutiefly instead. Squad so far is looking like:

Growlithe
Pikachu
Snorlax
Dartrix
Trumbeak
Cutiefly

I only just now got to the ranch on the 2nd Island, so I've got a ways to go.

I haven't been following these games closely, and heard about how Moon takes place at night (which makes sense) today. So, when I was out, I went with that over Sun.

I prefer Sun's legendary, but...

It's not solely nighttime in Moon, if that's what you meant. Honestly, I find it humorous that with all the fuss over times and such, you could manually change the time regardless of what game you're playing.

Oh, what I read made it seem like they take place 12 hours apart. One is day, one is night.

My final play session of the day went well. My Salandit evolved, I taught my Dartrix Shadow Claw, and I beat the second kahuna!

I hope people start using more than 3 Pokemon soon.

No, that's correct. If it's daytime in real life, it'd be nighttime in Moon. I thought you were possibly saying that it was always nighttime in Moon. But yea, regardless of what version people are playing, you can always just simply change the time.

beat the game 13hours ago and got to the battle tree in my japanese Sun. I like that the game is so open now and I feel there is a ton of stuff to do, ill definitly try to get some nice pokemon for a competive team, prob waiting with any postgame story if there is in my sun copy since Ill get the european version of Moon on wednesday, but Ill probably get somce nice pokemon to trade over as eggs in preparation :D

Mudsdale +items got me to the credits.

Pretty sure this isn't true. I'm playing moon and it gets dark and night and stays bright in the day. My 3DS clock isn't off either.

It is true. In Sun daytime is from 6AM to 6PM and nighttime is from 6PM to 6AM and in Moon it's the reverse.

I guess I'm just really dumb at noticing things. I dunno.

Do the different colored Minior mean anything?

Brown Minior=Low attack, high def, low speed
Yellow Minior=High attack, low def, high speed

Switches from brown to yellow ("shield down") at below half health. "High" is relative though, it's not that strong even in yellow form.

Gotta say, there are a bunch of pokemon I want to use but not enough slots to use them!

Just got Water Z crystal, and my choices are:

- Fomantis/Bounsweet
- Rockruff/Mudbray
- Cutiefly/Dewpider
- Torracat/Salanlit

Currently rocking Trumbeak and he's not going anywhere. Keeping Torracat for now too. Toying with a Cutiefly/Fomantis/Mudbray/Rockruff but I know one of the latter two need to go to make way for something else, water probably

Also, when do you get/how do you get to use Poké Pelago?

Talk to the dude that sells drinks at Pokemon center he will tell you what time is it.

He means the actual different colors they come in, like 6 of em. All miniors aren't yellow.

And no, they're just colors.

Which Pokemon are you leading with? Running away depends on the speed.

I had to stop using Mudbray/Mudsdale at first because of this.

Heh, it was the event snorlax I keep in front in case I need to use hold back.

That is indeed unfortunate, I don't remember it working that way (per se) in past games, lol.

They're offset. So if you play Moon at night, it's day

No, you were right Lotus. The article made it seem like Moon was always during nighttime, which surprised me.

I haven't played a lot of Pokemon as of late and haven't kept close tabs on the series. I feel kind of dumb now.

Maybe I will end up getting Sun instead, then.

I think he meant the actual color of Minior's core, once it's shield is down. There are like 7 different colors, but they're purely cosmetic, like Flebebe's flower's in gen 6.

Oh I'm stupid I didn't realize certain SOS pokemon only show up to help certain other pokemon

20 minutes of grinding roggenrola sos for nothing -.-

Yep, in the same. The quality of Pokemon in this generation is ridiculously high. So many good, viable monsters with great designs. It's so hard to pick a team of six, and it's going to make my "Stars" playthrough that much easier next year.

I've been happy with my cutiefly so far. It's super fast and has a pretty good moveset early on. On the other hand, my rockruff really isn't pulling its weight right now. I'm just holding on to it hoping it will get better eventually...

WIth how hand-holdy the game can be, I'm kinda surprised at a change they made, and also annoyed as hell.

Memory serves, it used to be if you didn't want a pokemon to learn a new move it gained while leveling up, you got a prompt asking basically "are you sure?" Not anymore. Click not interested (or whatever the option is) and its just a straight "Ok, move not learned."

Because I slipped slightly while playing, my rowlet did not learn Razor Leaf. And then I looked up where the move relearner is, figuring if it wasn't too bad I could deal with it. Apparently its right before the endgame?! Ugh.

Now I gotta reset and do the whole trial again.

Why do some Pokemon suddenly get boosted Exp? Not a traded pokemon, btw.

In XY at least, pokemon with increased affection to you gain an experience boost, that may be it.

endgame spoilers

What the hell, the 1st elite 4 battle just wrecked me ._. I'm also surprised thaty my Pokemon are actually a bit underleveled for this at lvl 52-53 I thought I had overleveled.

Also, who is this Golfer lady? Where's my bro Nanu

10 hours in, just got to the second island. I'm loving the game, definitely want to take my time with this one.

I tried to toy a bit with the Festival Plaza, but man is it utterly confusing. Should I stay away from it until the postgame or should I bother mastering it now? Seems pretty overwhelming.
