Buying a 4K TV for PS4K thread!

im not trying to be rude or anything, but there's several post in this thread about that model. Theres even pictures of it on the very same page that you posted your question on.

My bad guys. I did a search with the full model number but nothing came up.

I think I'll go for this one since it seems pretty ok and the price seems reasonable. I'm upgrading from an 10+ year old 720p HDTV haha.

You're in for a treat then. That's a huge upgrade.

I do not understand why the model numbers are different depending on the country.

Is the Samsung UE43KU6000 any good for gaming and just as a 4K TV?

I'm looking for something in this price range...
I have the 40" model of this, and it looks fantastic, even more so considering it's on the budget end of 4K TVs. I'd highly recommend it to anyone making their first step in to 4K territory.

Just a heads up I will be getting another Samsung UN40KU6290. I think it's important to show a comparison video just how solid it is and how people should not be afraid of grabbing it if they don't have a budget for the full HDR sets.

I ordered on EPP on Friday evening and it still hasn't shipped yet. Any idea how long it takes them to get out of "Preparing Order for Shipment" status?
It may have already shipped anyway. I ordered a 55KS8000 on Wednesday night, got restless because the status stayed as "Preparing Order for Shipment" into Saturday with Samsung not being able to tell me when it would ship. So I called to cancel the order, which Samsung said was fine, and bought it elsewhere. Called again today (well, yesterday now) to confirm, they said the cancellation was put through. A few hours later I get an email from the shipping company (AGS) saying it shipped on Friday (!) and was on its way. I called them to refuse delivery, so hopefully they don't decide to show up. So yeah, apparently Samsung reps and the website can be a bit behind.

The first KS8000 I ordered was on a Sunday night and I received it on Wednesday, so that was pretty fast. Granted, the screen was damaged in shipping, but it still got here (NYC) pretty quickly, though that probably had something to do with it being shipped via FedEx. Maybe they should have taken their time...

EDIT: Then again, you are looking at having only placed the order 1 business day ago, technically. They likely didn't do anything with the order over the weekend, so probably one more (business) day.

Just got my KU6300 50 inch tonight as planned! (the samsung one, I think it is more or less the same as the 6290, not sure what the difference is).

I am just blown away coming from a 40 inch 1080p, it is so spectacular.

My eyes actually hurt a bit playing titanfall, I think I need to not play on "dynamic" even though it looks so vibrant lol. Switched to game mode and tweaked settings a bit.

I am in love.

So to test for any clouding or light bleed/other screen issues etc you're supposed to download some test patterns to a flash drive and then just open the pictures on the TV or something ? I remember someone posted a link to a bunch of them but it was an information overload.

I suspect it may be the second one.

But if you wanted a 49" version, this one looks pretty good.

SONY BRAVIA KD49XD8305BU Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR 49" LED TV

It is hard to tell as many shops seem to have slightly different model variations, I kinda suspect it is a way for them to get out of price matching competitors.

Yeah that's probably the case.

Seems the difference in the two I linked is the TRILUMINOS Display, going to pull the plug on that one.

I was initially going to get the KS7000, but the feet on it look pretty wide, and I don't think it will fit on my stand. It made me decide to get the the Sony XD8305 since it has had some good feedback on here, and is a lot cheaper. I also watched a review saying they had reasonable speakers as well, so I might skip the sound bar for now.

Not sure where to ask this but this seems like the right place. My tv has a game mode but there is also a mode to select computer on or off. Should I put it on aswell as having it in game mode.

I believe the 6300 has built in wifi and a smart remote. Not sure if that is worth the extra $50.

If anyone's interested in a low budget but honestly great 4k HDR TV, I'd suggest looking into the Hisense M7000 series.

I've had this set for over two weeks now and I have to say it's marvelous, as far as color reproduction and black levels go. Input lag is good and while not great as some higher end samsung, gives me no issues while playing FPS games.

I've waited for the avforums review in order to put it here, and now that it's out and it confirmed my positive impressions, I'd say give it a chance if you're in the market for a new tv (and you're not in the USA, where the discounted price of the KS7000 effectively makes it almost a direct competitor to the Hisense)..

I should mention that, while it's an HDR tv, it's nowhere near 1.000 nits, it's more in line with the Sony Bravia XD80 lots of folks have here, so around 300 nits.
Also, the review mentions 38 ms of input lag, another one 36 ms and another one (can't find the link, will post it as soon as i find it) 32 ms. I don't know what's the deal here, but as I said, I've been playing games that require fast reflexes with no issue.

EDIT: here's the other review (FRENCH)

Also, it may not have all the nits, but black level is good. Like, really good, and panels generally don't have much bleed. Some folks over at AvForums even migrated from Ks7000-8000 Samsungs because of better panel performance for light bleed, uniformity, etc. (some did the opposite, it really boils down to what you prefer, either nits or black level.. and input lag, of course, if you're picky about it, especially if you game extensively in HDR.).

EDIT:
Also reading the review topic here might give you an idea of why it could be preferable to, say, the KS7000 (8000 in the US).

My two cents. Happy gaming, everybody!

Is the 65" not available on the Samsung website anymore?

Got the EPP but only the 55 is available. Still a good deal but should I wait until they come back or just order the 55?

Anyone know if Amazon typically has additional TV sales on Black Friday. I'm thinking I might just go for that Samsung 6300.

Thoughts on the Samsung UHD BD Player? K8500

$159.99 on Samsung EPP

I was going to get a Xbox One S, but don't really need a second console and don't want to wait for bitstream support.

Nevermind!

Just got the 65" KS8000 for $1079!!!

Big thanks to everyone here for steering me in the right direction and getting me that sweet EPP deal.

Hopefully this will last me another ten years like my other set and keeps me good for next gen (PS5 and beyond!)

I'm still waiting on my KS8000 delivery. The expected delivery date is today but the last tracking was when it arrived at the airport on Sunday. I called AGS ahead of time and gave them my phone number but no phone call yet either.

AGS is trash man. If I ever order from Samsung again I will insist on another shipper (if it's possible) and pay the extra. Give them a call and set up the appointment instead of waiting on them.

I have called them like 4 or 5 days in a row and every time I am told the TV has not arrived in my city's local AGS location and they should call me tomorrow to set up an apportionment. So today I call to set up an appointment because I am not waiting for them and the lady says well the TV has arrived in a crate but they need to go pick the crate up and that should take until the end of the day. Why does going to pick up a crate take a whole business day? I am concerned for my TV and I want to get it before thanksgiving.

The KS8000? Still shows for me. Defaults to 55" but I can click on 65" and add it to my cart.

How do you get the discount price on ks8000? I log on to my perksatwork account and click on samsung whick routed me to their store but the price still show $999.99?

I gave them another call. They called the local office and it was confirmed they had it. The customer service rep said they needed to send some paperwork over to the office and then the local office would call me about delivery in 5-10 minutes.

*waits*

I think this review encapsulates really well how I feel about the current OLED's. Even though I really like them, it wasn't so significantly better or impressive compared to the KS8000 at less than half the price that would make me justify it. Especially considering the Input lag.

https://youtu.be/xz8O3sUH7xc

For me, I ponied up for the OLED over the KS8000 due to the viewing angles. I demoed the KS8000 and while its image quality is arguably almost as good as the OLED, it only applies when you are within 15-degrees of dead center. Even 45-degrees off center causes the IQ to suffer drastically in which case you lose most of the benefits of having a premium WCG HDR LCD. The way my living room is setup, half the people sitting will have a quality hit. Its just a characteristic of VA panels in general

VA panels (KS8000): good blacks/contrast, good colors, mediocre viewing angles
IPS panels (49" X800D): mediocre blacks/contrast, great colors, great viewing angles
OLED: best blacks/contrast, great colors, great viewing angles... but $$$ and input lag

Just got the 65 inch from Samsung EPP. Total price $1123.19.

Then go in on an LG OLED next year when they get gaming mode and all that stuff figured out.

If you already went through perksatwork and created a Samsung account it should be connected to that account. Just log in to Samsung's site and it should show you the discounted prices.

That's exactly what my plan is. OLED is only going to get better and cheaper!

Yeah, as much as I would love to get an OLED now, the lag is indeed something that stops me from going all in. While I am not nearly as sensitive to it as others, it is something that would bother me. The only negative for me is the viewing angle but coming from a Sony w900a, I think I will be just fine. The people who will be sitting on the sides can just deal with it lol

Still waiting.

Meh.

I got a call form a company Cartage Dispatch Services and they said the can delivery it Friday morning but there like 4 min from my house and they said I could come pick it up. Decisions like I don't know if I can fit it in my SUV and a lady at my job says if I pick it up and there is any damage they will just say I did it.

Strange, logged in to perksatwork account and use my old Samsung account sign in and still show $999.99. Its this epp deal dead??? Thanks for help.
