Figured it would be handy to have a fresh post to discuss the update itself.

Lock if not.

Looks very good for a first update. Might wait with a purchase until the second update to see where it's heading, but this is very tempting.

wasn't interested in this game even before the whole launch fiasco but that looks like they put in a lot of work.

hope it improves the game a lot for those disappointed in their purchase

Should be good, looking forward to getting back into it.

Pro support would be nice but I understand they have much higher priorities to manage than that right now.

My biggest problem with No Man's Sky was a very limited inventory space so I'm glad they're doing something about it. I will definitely come back to it if impressions are positive.

All the bullshit aside, I think that's a pretty massive investment into the game. It may be "too little, too late" for sales, but it's definitely a massive, massive boost for people still playing and people who want to give it another chance. If I can get the game cheap, I may give it another go.

That looks much better. I don't know if it's enough for me to jump back in since the gameplay loop still looks fairly shallow, but good work on them all the same.

I think this is a big step in reaching their fanbase again. The only thing left to do now is address previous features that didn't make it in and clear that out of the way.

As someone that really hopes they succeed in getting NMS closer to what was promised I hope this is the first of many updates like the video promises. I still think the core and foundation of NMS is super exciting.

That said I don't think people should get too hyped about this alone, I don't think this is quite enough yet but a good sign. What I mean by that don't waste giving your second chance for NMS on this update yet to the people that are still super salty about it.

Maybe wait a whole year before those people return. By then it might be in a good state.

It asks you to choose your game mode when you first start after installing the patch. Looks like a one time choice per save. Trophies are disabled in Creative mode which makes sense.

"If you could have lived our lives"

oh get it over it you overselling shrill. Next time don't run a prerelease campaign of pure chaff and then release what was a relatively polished indie early access title at $60.

You lied your way to a fortune. No one will make the same mistake with one of your titles again.

This seems exactly the right path to take, looks like a good, meaty update. Can't imagine being on that team the last few months, the eventual documentary we get out of that will be fascinating to watch. Would love to see a Waypoint deep dive or a Noclip video.

Hats off to HG for powering through. No one deserves the hate they received (death threats, stalking, smfh)

I'll pick this game up sometime next year. Looking forward to the experience.

If there's one thing they got right from the beginning it's the soundtrack, it's great.

Don't have much else to say about this game, but let's see if they can really build upon this. I'm stuck with the game anyway, so I'll wait for more updates if I'll ever jump in again

It is the right approach after the reception they got to wait until it is ready to launch before talking about it. They handled this well, understood that they can't rely on promises at the moment, they have to show whilst they're talking about it.

Ok, this patch is no joke. I'm considering buying the game now.

I'm seriously impressed. I feared Hello Games would just abandon the project after the enormous backlash.

But it looks like they are in it for the long haul after all. These new features look very, very cool!

They did all of this in less than 3 months? Thats impressive

Doubt it, I think this was in the works for much much longer but they had to cut it before launch and decided to work on it and flesh it out more for this. Happens all the time in dev though!

Maybe if people stop acting like assholes to them, they might.

While there's definitely a more ridiculous side of things in regards to the vitriol, there's more than a few people who were disappointed with the game like normal human beings. If you produce a product that is unsatisfactory, you don't get to play the victim here when criticism is warranted.

So while I agree that this update is pretty damn good, I still think they need to address things not to calm down people who will always throw shade, but to show their fans and those reasonably disappointed with their product that they can do better, both in PR and in game content.

Hell, yes.

I know it's not a popular game on here but I've loved the hours that I've spent with it since launch. For some reason I'm very tempted to just start again.

These guys are such damn troopers, they deserve respect for knuckling down and improving their game under a hailstorm of daily Internet hate. NMS is still one of my most chilled experiences of the year, I'll def. be jumping back in to check out the new stuff when FFXV is done.

Love and Respect to Sean and the HG team.
