TX1 uses bigLITTLE but does not do HMP (HMP being the 'all cores can be used simultaneously' paradigm).

I had a feeling I was missing something because I was thinking of heterogeneous multiprocessing but was confused with the TX1 not having it in a big.little configuration.

So yeah, I should have said it doesn't use HMP.

Thanks for explaining why it's "Wii U2".

Basically another sub-standard (technically) console with hopes & expectations on innovation as a drive force. Which is usually hit n miss tactic. Why can't they just release a console that has both? . Xbox1 relied on kinect when it lunched weaker than ps4. But it was technically ok to withdraw the kinect portion (which failed miserably ) and be sold as standard console. And it did just fine.

Because if nintendo released a home console today it wont be much more powerful than switch is.

How is a custom Pascal Based Tegra "sub-standard"? All signs point to it being one of the most powerful chips available in a portable device.

some people spend their free time with their parents in retirement home

others are sittin on their asses complainin bout some inconsequential life decisions people on the internet make

I'm not sure what kind of job you have but I get several weeks of vacation time a year to be used as I please. And if I don't use it I lose any of it over 2 weeks at the end of the year..

I take days off sometimes just because I feel like taking a day off. It's paid time and I can use it for whatever I want. Not sure why someone has to be dying in your mind to take a day off.

Because Nintendo doesn't want to compete by introducing a third box that does exactly basically what it's 2 other rich competitors do? How is that hard to understand.

Not really I really love Nintendo and it's the reason I got into the video game industry. But I really hate every single console from them since the masterpiece NCube.
That's a grand total of two consoles. One of them being the least sold, and the other - the most sold home console of our time. Your statistical sample is a bit narrow.

Where is this rumor coming from? Nintendo themselves have indicated that the dock has nothing much in the way of internal hardware, and I believe Matt has hinted that the dock might be able to be sold separately for a very low price.

You know what, you're right. I can't find it anymore. Maybe I got it mixed up with something. Hard to keep track of all the rumors.

As a "Nintendo lover" has the power of the Wii and Wii U stopped you from enjoying their games?

Nintendo can't and won't compete with Microsoft and Sony on loss leading uberpower. They're both megacorps that can hide their losses elsewhere. Nintendo is just Nintendo.

For what it is there is nothing sub standard in it
If, as it should be, it will receive the usual portale Nintendo and japanise third party support it will be a huge leap over 3ds and Vita too

Switch could very well have heat sink/pipes but for it to be on par with a PS4 or PS4 pro is just a pipe dream. It will likely be closer to XB1 than Wii U depending on how fast the GPU is and how many cores the COU has

That leak doesn't say anything of that kind, but the statement gets confused.

Supposedly the Dev Kit SoC die size "if it was just the GPU die size" it would be more powerful than Ps4Pro, but it's just an over convoluted statement about the ~210mm2 Dev Kit SoC.

The rumour starts saying that the Switch SoC itself is about ~100mm2 which is more or less what is expected.

4g and 1080p statements are the real ones hard to believe, but they could very well be wrong assumptions. It's not as much nonsense as people seems to believe.

No, but it stopped me enjoying or even wanting to turn on the console for more than the odd thing. Mainly due to not having many other decent games as they all were on competitor's consoles.

Same situation, mostly I hate the Wii U's OS. I am a big Nintendo fan, but sometimes its the surrounding things that makes the user to have a great experience.

-OS Performance (Back in the day it took like a minute to load the menu)
-Graphics Power to get third partys involved.
-Online multiplayer (god no party system, online chat, and that awful code thing)

This usually drags me out on playing the Wii U more than I should.

I hope the Switch address all these problems. Not only with raw power, but with clever subtle changes.

It is the little things I think Nintendo just missed on more than the concept of the Wii U itself... I hope the switch learns something..

Party Chat, OS performance, Trophies, single account system, purchases tied to account rather than hardwar. People always say oh these things are minor... but when you add them up they become major just like missing third parties.

My biggest gripe behind the way Nintendo does online is the fact that it still feels very disconnected.

One question I have is .. we keep seeing that Nintendo is working with third parties and they all say that they are impressed or intrigued by what they see.

I am wondering if that entails them making the API easier to use for third parties. I cant imagine porting from x86 to ARM is going to be easy. I am wondering if Nintendo / Nvidia is working on making that easier somehow? Custom Gameworks that is already developed for ARM?

I cant imagine developers are happy to port their triple A games from ps4 / x1 with low end PC specs to even lower end cell phone specs..

Porting from x86 to ARM isn't any issue at all. Pretty much every engine supports ARM, its in hundreds of millions of devices after all .

Also not sure why this has to be said again by these CPU's aren't lower end than the ones inside XBox One/PS4. Jaguar isn't even a low end PC core, its a notebook core and even the 2012 ARM A15 can match/outperform it.

Porting X86 to ARM is something the entire industry has been working on for a while because that is the direction that everything is moving.

One of the advantages the Switch will have is the fact that most large studios are already working with ARM technology stacks and people who are comfortable developing for ARM. That simply wasn't the case for the PowerPC architecture Nintendo has been using since the Gamecube.

Oh, right! This is what I was concerned about with the dock being used only for charging. If I go somewhere and use the Switch, like to work, I won't be able to charge the damn thing at work unless I have the dock. Unlike my phone, bringing a USB charger with me is not a big issue. A dock? I don't think so.

They damn better allow USB charging, or simple charging. Something I can plug into the wall and charge without having to bring a big piece of plastic with me.

The rumors state that there is a USB C port to allow for charging without a dock. It could even be the same port used by the dock.

There's obviously going to be a way to charge it without the dock. Can't even believe that needed a rumour. USB c is most likely just using common sense.

That's a relief. Hopefully this rumor is true.

No need to consider it a rumor.

If for some reason Nintendo goes crazy and doesn't release a deckles charging method (they won't, but lets assume), those 3rd party accessories will be available on release day.

Though USB-C seems likely at this point. It has the bandwidth, power supply, and format needs in that tiny port. Anything else would be quite odd, even for Nintendo.
