DC Week... week to week growth

Supergirl 3.5 mil (+33%), 1.1 (+20% week-to-week)
♦ The Flash 4.2 mil (+40%), 1.5 (+36%)
♦ Arrow 3.5 mil (+84%), 1.3 (+86%)
 
Speaking of which, there was an iZombie reference on No Tomorrow this week. They pronounced it all as one word, like "iPhone." I know that's how it's spelled but I still call it "I, Zombie," after the original property. What do y'all call it?
 
I always thought it would be cool to just have this small thing where Barry has to run across the multiverse, maybe in the season finale where he is winding up a punch that'll fuck up Savitar, and just have in the background of all the DCTV shows this little red streak that no one acknowledges.

Because of the way it's spelled, I've always pronounced it like iPhone as well. *Shrugs*

Thanks guys. I guess I might not be explaining it properly. It's the difference between saying "iditarod" and "IBM." There's a pause of sorts between the 'i' and the subsequent letter in "IBM" that isn't there in "iditarod." Actually, I don't think that's quite it. It's more like she said the 'i' with italics. iZombie vs. i Zombie.

Yeah, I've always pronounced it like iPhone rather than like I, Robot.

This reminds me that I hope House of Cards last season is next year. Actual politics has been scarier than that show ever was because at least Frank Underwood was competent.
 
On a sidenote, I bothered checking out Notorious's pilot regardless of it already being effectively cancelled, and it seems like they spend more considerable money on it, with a premise should kind of have worked, but it's not able to make the sell on collusion between media, politics, and crime. It was surprising for me to see that the logline was not a good representation of what it actually tried to do. That said, I shan't be mourning its passing either.

I also checked out Stan versus Evil, which is kind of obnoxious in just how much of an Ash vs Evil Dead knock-off it is. But I suppose you get to Dr. Cox trying to get himself fired with an otherwise kind of agreeable setup? I'm not sure why you wouldn't just watch Ash vs Evil Dead instead though. So cancelled, unless somehow viewers from show A also watch show B because similar.

And I checked out Travelers, because people said it was good. It's an extremely generic freaky friday from da future show. Hard skip if you're not into another round of The Tomorrow People (ha, pun). Not sure how its ratings are doing, but I would imagine subpar.

I can't quite get myself to watch The Exorcist though.

Now I'm looking it up and can't seem to find any evidence of my claim. If it's not true, I wonder why I thought that. I used to be hugely into comics and had a Michael Allred iZombie panel as my signature on another forum. It's weird I can't find any evidence. I really wonder what gave me that idea.

Fact check:
It's on Netflix within X amount of time after it airs in the US.
X amount=the amount of time Netflix needs to get subtitles fixed for that particular region.
They don't need to fix subtitles for the UK so it airs within 12 hours there.

I think this is the singular thing that I've explained the most on GAF.

UK, yes but on most of the other regions it appears a week after. It probably has to due with subtitles for other languages.

It's many years after the book. They've expanded the story and there are several things they could set up for future seasons
mostly the satanic group hidden inside the higher rankings of the church.

Your explanation fails in one simple fact: 99% of these shows are on Netflix within hours of the US airing in all the regions, including their localized subtitles. We're talking shows like Better Call Saul, and even small shows like Nashville and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. So perhaps it is best to stop explaining this.

This is, of course, because Netflix doesn't actually have to wait until an episode airs.

They don't/didn't get Designated Survivor early enough in advance to prep subtitles. I think this also happened with Lovesick in the Nordic region, we got that one late.

Netflix have full global rights, there is no reason besides subtitles for the delay in different regions.

But your explanation doesn't make sense for germany, it never takes this long. Designated Survivor is delayed more than a month for us, we're only getting episode 5 this coming sunday. Other shows like Better Call Saul, Penny Dreadful, Shadowhunters or Scream are all abailable within a day after they air in the US, subbed and dubbed!

I think it's more likely the delay is the result of Netflix germany not wanting to deal with US networks irregular scheduling. For shows that don't get uploaded all at once they advertise them as "a new episode every week" and they probably want to stick to that and gave themselves a buffer to deal with ABC taking random weeks off.
German audiences are not used to three episodes, two weeks off, two episodes, one week off etc.

Prepping subtitles doesn't take long. I cannot speak for orher countries but the german industry works lighting fast. The Walking Dead airs dubbed one day after it premieres on AMC, Monday is TWD night on Fox over here and they only get the current episode less than a week before it premieres. They can do a full dub in five or six days, subtitles probably only take a day or two.

I will freely admit that I don't know the precise details for Netflix Germany. But Netflix has full global rights and are allowed to publish whenever they want. The initial delay between regions (i.e. it being available earlier in the UK than the rest) was chalked up to subtitles not being ready because they got the show late.

They (very probably) don't subtitle the show in one day on a per episode basis. They get the episodes early and do them in batches.

actual edit:
I managed to track down an interview with the French translator for The Walking Dead. She gets the episodes 2-3 weeks in advance.

DC Week helped the CW surpass FOX, 3 out of 4 nights this week at 8pm. And Arrow has stiff competition.
 
I know that it's a logistical nightmare to do, but given the success of the crossover and the fact that they only have one show that can achieve a rating above 1.0, I wonder if the CW is going to want more than one major crossover event per season now.

Maybe if it had any lasting effects.
 
I brought this up earlier this year and was a little lambasted for it but after this season, pencil in Crisis for the end of the 2017/2018 season and have a year of flashforwards in Arrow S6 with the after effects of it. Start shooting a week early, film all the flashforwards for the year, then pepper them throughout the season of Arrow, which means Supergirl and Flash guest starring most weeks.

Yes, it's not the norm and the schedules will be off at first but you're not actually filming more footage (just in a different order) and with the flashbacks ending in Arrow this year, it's a good hook for the show whilst keeping a similar structure.

That's what happens when you don't work towards those crossovers like the CW has done by setting up the Arrowverse. Fox doesn't even try with their crossovers, they just do it for no other reason but because they can.
