Seems that Top Chef season 14 quietly premiered last week. Didn't see any discussion on it, and I just happened to find it while browsing the on demand.

I gave up after S3, when they broke up Schmidt and Cece and forced Nick and Jess together. S2 may be one of the top tier seasons of comedy ever (ok ok there's hyperbole there, but the Schmidt explaining pleasing a woman to the lesbian doc is hilarious).

Schmidt's awesomeness went downhill without Cece, and Jess and Nick did not work together as a couple.
 
They should get rid of Jess, wouldn't help the ratings but it would make the show much better.

Oh. I might have to go looking for that. That explains why Padma was on The Late Show recently. I've been telling myself I wouldn't watch this season of Hell's Kitchen, and yet everytime it pops up on Hulu I can't resist.

I was going to make a lazy OT. T'was alright, interesting mix of half new half previous contestants, including a couple really unpleasant ones. We've been watching Masterchef Australia though, and it's remarkable how those home cooks blow away not only the American counterparts but also the American established prestigious chefs of Top Chef.

The quality of the show is better because it's focused on the food and not the drama. In fact, they almost seem to edit out most of the conflict in the Australian show.

That, and the contestants all basically prepare and learn before hand. Or at least it seems that way, because the only real rule is that you can't have worked in a kitchen before, but that doesn't mean you can't take cooking classes and whatnot. For example, Reynold's family owns a patisserie, so surprise surprise, he's good at deserts.

I see what you're saying, certainly in comparison to Masterchef America, though I don't see why the American MC contestants couldn't in theory be as talented as the Australian ones, except for the possibility that Fox wants less talented people than the Australian network is. Still, on Top Chef all of the chefs themselves are trained professionals (with often, unfortunately, plenty of unpleasant drama as you indicated, even more than we see on Masterchef America). It's amazing to me that the established chefs of TC are less creative and worse at plating compared to however well trained the amateur cooks of MC Australia are. That's what I was mainly impressed with. (I see now looking back at my original post that I didn't specify I was specifically referring to the quality of the food vs. American MC/TC, sorry about that.)

I've only watched the last two seasons of Top Chef, so I don't know if it's really fair to judge the series as a whole, but you look at some of the challenges on Australia and it doesn't compare. I don't want to spoil the last challenge for this year's Australia in case you haven't seen it, but it was like an 6 hour cook for a single dish. It's insane.

I feel like I learn something when I watch Australia, even though I'll probably never temper chocolate in my life. With Top Chef, it's just watching alpha dogs yelling at the judges and at each other. Which is fine, but I don't really see it as a food show because of that. It's like a classier version of Hell's Kitchen. lol

Not really because for it to honestly be a part of Gotham you'd need Gordon or the other actors aged up to make it worth being connected at all.
But a crossover could still work if it was just future Gotham.

Thats also why im saying use Batwoman instead of Batgirl, movies won't use her and until recently she was pretty separated from the Batfamily.
follow Arrow and rip off Batman stuff to prop her up even more
Heck I say go ridiculous and try to do a relationship with Catwoman or another female "villain" like Ivy
Laurel as Black Canary is available
And Huntress hasn't been mentioned since S2 of Arrow.
Maybe throw in Dr Light from Flash, Nyssa al ghul or Katana from Arrow to fill it out.
 
I have no idea why people think New Girl S3 is so bad, but it is the weakest season and last season was pretty damn strong. Especially helps when Jess isn't around, she's the weakest part of her own show.

Who could have seen that cancellation coming? It is fantastic that The CW has kept the show long enough to finish it.

The problem with New Girl was illustrated by Megan Fox's character. They need someone who is not as out there as the rest. Not entirely a straight man, but someone who brings them back to Earth a bit. Current Jess is on the same level as the rest.
 
No Tomorrow gets better ratings than Crazy Ex, but the no back order is seemingly the nail in the coffin. Crazy Ex is surviving on critical buzz and CBS status because ain't nobody watching that thing. They can't survive on Jane alone.

But I am glad that Jane is a lock to get the 1-2 more seasons they want and can end it properly.

That was originally Cece, but she's truly integrated into the group at this point and elevated comically, so Jess just puts the crazy capacity over the top.

Megan Fox was fantastic, glad she's coming back.

Why watch Hairspray live when you can rewatch my husbando Zac Efron in the superior Hairspray. And also Nikki Blonsky (who was amazing), surprised after starring in a movie one would go to work at a shoe store and a salon?

Designated Survivor was great though how much more recent scenarios will it try to use/modify (NSA leaker last night).

also will hannah at least remain in the plot, please bring the truth to light so we can move beyond this vice president plot, the speaker lady is more intriguing in her potential efforts to cannibalize the presidency
 
Strike Back....is back. New cast, though.

- THR: 'Strike Back' Revived for Fifth Season at Cinemax
Cinemax is reviving its first foray into original scripted programming.

The premium cable network and U.K. collaborator Sky are bringing back Strike Back for its fifth season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The drama was renewed for its fourth and then-final season in 2013 and wrapped its run in October 2015. The new season, which will feature an entirely new cast, will resume production in 2017. A premiere date has not yet been determined.

This marks the fifth season of the franchise on Cinemax and sixth on U.K. broadcaster Sky, which aired the first season of the drama — Strike Back: Origins — in 2013. It's unclear if any of the original stars — including Philip Winchester or Sullivan Stapleton (the latter of whom stars on NBC's Blindspot) — will return in any capacity.

Hopefully, if one or both of them come back, their characters are treated a bit better than Armitage's character in the second season.
