DOTA 2 v7.00: New Journey (Test Client Dec 11, Main Client Dec 12)

Pre-game stuff is genuinely brilliant. Really like the background loading and slick route to the game, but all the changes are just massive that I'm much more curious about how pro players adapt to it and utilise all manner of strats.

I'm genuinely excited about these talent trees. Getting to level 25 is not common in an average game and the ridiculousness of most of them is great. Just theorycrafting some of the paths you can take is fun but in practice we'll see how it works out. I'm more of a spectator than a player so I'm excited to see the competitive community adapt to all of these changes. It could either go really bad or it could be amazing, I have faith in Icefrog and co. so I'm not too worried. HUD changes are amazing. Game map refresh is neat, new hero looks boss, everything seems good for the most part.

It's interesting how the meta game will shift now - how important will shrines really be? Are they as important as towers?

What will be in the Backpack primarily? TP scrolls? What heroes are getting picked more now? Will the next Major bring some so far undetected overpowered strategies that are not balanced yet?

Pretty exciting even from the sideline..

Exactly the same. Totally agree.

Whew. I went through the whole thing on stream, and even then I rushed through it.

- Monkey King is cool, really unique.
- I don't know how to feel about talents yet. My initial reaction was disgust, but I'm starting to come around on it. I didn't believe those patch notes were real before, but they were. They are more interesting than attributes, but I'm curious how that's going to change builds for heroes that do skill builds involving stats. I'm talking Anti-Mage, Wraith King, etc. AM it will be particularly rough for since you can't do the 1-1-1, stats, stats, ult anymore.
- That level 25 Tinker spell lifesteal talent is

I want to just see people playing this and play games with it. I'll probably join in on the inhouses later. I need something to eat right now.

Jakiro is now in the lead for ugliest hero in desperate need of a remodel.

Same. It's pretty good timing too. I loved 6.88 and how good it was. But time for something new. Even if the start is going to be rough we survived the Spectre/Sniper/troll patch and that was the roughest the game has ever been at least if you're playing support mostly.

There were concepts for tree climbing going all the way back to dota 1. I recall HoN had a tree based hero.

I could see stuff like TP scroll, Wards, Necro books, and Refresher end up in the Backpack and only brought out when needed. Helm of the Denominator will likely live in the Backpack late game, since it sort of sucks stat wise now.

People could stick consumables in it early. Place extra Slaves and Mangos and the like. Going to be great for Smoke, it was often unwieldy to lug around.

I'm thinking in the future Helm will get a dominate-focused upgrade. It felt a little strange that it lost it on upgrading to Satanic.

Did they update the learn Dota 2 section or is it just that it has been quite a while since I've played and thus I'm seeing a bunch of new things? Either way, I'll probably go through it since it has been quite a while

Yeah I think they revised it. I'll jump in test to check.

edit - yeah pretty sure this is revised.

Nature's Guise is now a passive ability. Whenever you are within 265 range of a tree for 6/5/4/3 seconds (without attacking), you gain invisibility and 16/22/28/34% movement speed bonus. When you attack out of invisibility, you bash the target for 1/1.4/1.8/2.2 seconds. Distance-to-tree check still has a 0.75 grace period before invisibility is removed. Your attack out of invisibility cannot miss. You can cast while invisible.

Passive invi + stun all in one lul

so does it seem like monkey king is broken as shit or is it just me?????

I don't think so, you approach him like most other carries.

Shut down his farm, don't let him escape easily.

Urn to stop him from escaping to the trees, or any damage over time ability and it negates one of his abilities right off the bat.

They really had the nerve to show this ugly creature

Watched a few matches with Monkey King and OMG he looks hilarious, poofing into runes, trees, tangos, etc; he just looks hilarious.

Haven't been able to play at all in a really long time because I don't have any spare lately. Super excited by this patch, adds more dynamic to each match. Some talents will be better in various situations than others.

I hope all future heroes are just as unique as this one (within dota).

They really had the nerve to show this ugly creature

the fact that they updated fucking viper and enigma over jakiro shows that they hate jakiro and that he will be removed in 7.01

unless he's gonna get an arcana soon......

also, slardars new face looks stupid as fuck

pl was already awful, right now he's bottom 10 worst heroes in the game.

I need to play around with the agi bonus to Phantom rush but God damn that illusion bounty.

The only hope he has is that his illusiona pop so fast. It feels like a huge buff to anyone who already countered him.

Kunkka is laughing somewhere.
