Yeah i agree, though Mass Effect has become more an action game rather than a RPG, and its focus on graphics is clear, surly if it was something like Final Fantasy XV i'd go with Switch, also can't wait to play Xenoblade X on Switch too

Nah. I will continue to buy third party games for my PC, and games like FIFA and fighting games for PS4. I'll only be buying exclusives for Switch. Maybe a few games like Persona 5 I could see myself buying for Switch because of the handheld format, but not if the performance is lower than on PS4.

It's definitely a case-by-case basis for me. I like to play the LEGO games, so for those, maybe Switch makes a lot more sense. But some other games where graphic fidelity is more important, i might opt for PC or PS4 Pro.
For games with a very cartoony or anime look, i think Switch would be a good choice because of the portability factor. I like to be able to play games on the train/bus or even at work (yay me) so Switch could be a really big deal for my gaming habits.
When it comes to something like the next mass effect, i'm less likely to go Switch... but I'm very open to the idea. We'll have to see just how big a difference there is in terms of visuals and such.
You can pretty much patent an idea. Especially nowadays when we're talking about software enabling existing hardware. Not so much for physical mechanisms where your patent is not likely to stand if challenged unless you have proof of a working prototype.
And yep, any innovation company worth their salt will patent any and every idea. Doesn't matter if/when they use it.
Nintendo has been spending a fair bit of time with Apple this year. It was all supposedly for Super Mario Run, but you never know what other things they got together to talk about.

Now, since the IR sensor is on the bottom (the part right below her thumb) you'll have to flip it 180 degrees in order to have the IR sensor facing the TV. In which case the inner shoulder buttons will no longer be on the side which her fingers wrap around to- it'll be on the side closer to her palm. So you would not be able to use those inner shoulder buttons.
Yeah I asked this question a while ago and I definitely will be buying most of my multiplats on Switch as long as the retain all the functionality I want. Something like Diablo 4, if it won't have the same online as my PC, I'll get on PC. But anything single player I will for sure be getting for Switch if it's available.
Yeah software patents are kind of weird. I think they might actually be the reason the whole "request a protoype" rule has been unofficially dropped, at least in the US. Apparently there used to be warehouses full of prototypes the USPTO requested from inventors (which honestly would be a fascinating place to walk through) but asking for a prototype, while still in the law, is unheard of in modern times.
Anyway, yeah, companies patent ideas they'll never build, use or sell allllll the time. Most of those are just used for protection and litigation purposes. Not to say Nintendo won't use the SCD's because they seem like a pretty useful idea, but there's every chance they never will.

Annoying. Anyone know if it's possible to get refunded for my pledge? Not likely to buy a Switch for a long while and uninterested in playing on PC.

My TV is 720p so that's not a factor. I'm only ever Nintendo and PC. My main thing is cost vs. the ability to play with no need for a TV. PC games will obviously be cheaper but portability and even features like Miiverse and My Nintendo coins can easily convince me to buy a Switch version.
Edit: I'll likely go PC for games I want to play online with my friends though as most of them have PCs already.

Honestly, I'll probably buy most multi-platform games on the Switch. I have an Xbox One and I'll be getting a PS4 for Christmas, but I barely play games on them. My wife and I have the same work schedule, so when we're home together we're usually using the consoles to watch TV or movies in the living room. We also have a TV in the bedroom, but it would be too much of a pain to move one or both consoles between that and the living room.
The Switch will be absolutely perfect for me, as I'll hopefully just be able to have a dock at each TV to plug in if I have the opportunity. I'll gladly take a visual downgrade for that capability. It's better than not playing the game at all.

Playing anytime anywhere and seamlessly switching between portable and stationary mode has major value to me. And as someone who has no problem going from a 16-bit game on a CRT to my PC/Ps4 and back again, Switch versions of multiplats being lower resolution/fidelity is of little concern to me. I can honestly see the Switch becoming the platform I use the most because I can blend it into my life far more easily than the Ps4 and PC. It's everything I wanted the Vita to be for me gaming-wise but with franchises I prefer( generally I prefer Nintendo's IPs to anyone else's). I'm actually giving serious consideration to selling my Vita because I really don't use it much anymore and I've played most of what I wanted to play on it. The Switch pretty much makes the Vita irrelevant for me( again, based on the franchises I prefer and the ability to play them in various ways).

This is a great question. I personally will most likely be playing most games on PS4, and maybe double dip with a few titles on the switch. I'm really only interested in Nintendo games for the Switch.

Huh, are we talking about the same game ? Seasons of Heaven is that indie game announced last week, made in UE4, and we only saw screenshots of it.
I'm pretty sure it had an unstable reveal trailer. I remember the camera rising behind a stone revealing a large plane of grass, and the framerate was chopping along.

i'm quickly becoming super-likely to ignore my computer after work and just pick up my 3ds or wiiu gamepad. It's looking like I just like the handheld form factor the most. I'll probably spend most of my 2017 gaming time playing my switch as a handheld within fifteen feet of the dock.

Yeah... I thought about this last night and realized it really isn't possible to replicate Wii controls with that setup. This is extremely disappointing to me as it seems to imply that Wii Virtual Console games (if they bring them over) won't be playable out of the box. I don't think that will be a dealbreaker for many people, but... It would have been really neat.
So... I'm back on my theory that IR will be used just for replicating the touch screen while the Switch is docked or the joycons are detached.

Switch only Nintendo exclusives. Don't really care for the mobile aspect of the switch. I'll be playing all my games on my 55 inch tv unless i need to dump.
Persona 5 is at first and foremost a PS3 game, so I'm sure would be fine in Switch. In fact, many japanese PS4 games are low-mid tier, a Switch port have more sense.

I always thought the mainline Persona games are Playstation-exclusive. It's way more likely we'll get SMTV than P5.

They're playstation exclusive because they had nowhere else to go. Persona 3 and 4 released on PS2 for obvious commercial reasons, while Persona 3 portable and Persona 4 Golden could only have been released on PSP and PSVita because DS and 3DS weren't powerful enough.
If the Switch takes off, no reason to think Persona 5 couldn't release on it.

I imagine there's nothing keeping Persona exclusive to Playstation, but I don't see Persona 5 hitting switch for awhile. Took a long time for it to come to PSV.

Almost all of the SMT brand is on nintendo in some way I'd have to say persona is only on PlayStation because they built a fan base on it bigger than they thought

The expanded portable version has to go somewhere, and even if they could squeeze it onto the Vita, I imagine that ship would have sailed by the time they want to do it.
Besides, a Switch version would be way more profitable.
It seems like Yooka-Laylee being heavily hinted at getting a Switch port, while not being confirmed officially or mentioned in the recent trailer, does raise some hope for some games that have yet to have Switch versions announced.
That's not to say that the sky's the limit, but some hope for upcoming third party games (Ex: MvCI) could have a chance.

I made a list with all the heavily-rumored games/confirmed games. I try to update it each time a new game is announced/rumored from reliable sources :
My point was more that I won't buy games that has a worse performance than on other platforms.
I'm gonna buy Animal Crossing just to have one on handheld Switch until they make a new one. I never tried the GameCube version anyway. I'm also there for Luigi's Mansion and Super Mario Sunshine as I never played them. Now I just need Eternal Darkness. Twin Snakes and the Rogue Squadron games would be cool too.

With the Switch and My Nintendo (which Nintendo seems to be pushing in NYC anyway), are we finally going to see tangible rewards for gaming skills?
I think in one of the last few investor meetings, Nintendo talked about having My Nintendo coin rewards sort of taking the place of in-game achievements or trophies. Meaning, beat X levels, get X coins. I think the way it works now is you get platinum coins for completing in-game missions, but as it is now platinum coins don't seem all that useful.
I'm pretty sure they talked about offering discounts for these missions in one of those meetings, so does anyone think they will start offering actual tangible rewards for the platinum coins, or start offering gold coins (which offer game discounts) for in-game missions?

Talked to my little brother today about Switch, and he immediately came up with an alternative use of that IR stuff: internet browsing. It would be so much easier to use that than trying to hit the right place with analogs and stuff.
Like with wiimote, it would make using Netflix and such a breeze!
He has a PS4 and hates to use the controller for navigating. With Wii U it is easier, but a remote style would be so great.
