Super Mario Run 10M+ downloads Day 1, over $4M revenue, biggest Appstore launch ever.

So it being downloaded that much is impressive, do they list numbers on how many people bought it? I would be more interested in that because with it being IAP. I would be interested in the sales.

It is n°1 in top grossing charts in US and UK.
Btw, not referred to you that actually did a good question, but in general I don't understand why many are toning down an outstanding result.

Pikachu, can you hear me? Game Freak, can you hear me?!? ... your boys took a hell of a beating. Your boys took a hell of a beating!

When the games aren't tied to their pitiful hardware, yea Nintendo is still by far the most popular entity in this industry.

Basically. Nintendo's problem has never been people don't want to play their marquee franchises. Their problem is literally everything else.

Interesting that it's not New Super Mario U though. This isn't moving Wiius the way GO moved 3DS' to play Pokemon.

That's because even Nintendo doesn't care about people buying the Wii U right now. All of this is to help the Switch out in March.

Have to laugh that people are outraged at $10.

Already, there’s a ton of backlash about this on the App Store. Around half of the game’s 33,000 ratings are one-star ratings, Apptopia notes. Apparently, people are wildly upset over the small amount of free play before having to cough up the money to buy the full game. (Nintendo may later choose to drop its price to convert more free players to customers at some point, given the situation.)

I wonder if the people saying people will buy their stuff if it's not on terrible hardware realize the assets for this game are probably 10 years old and looks exactly like the wii u version of NSMB

Stop posting dumb things guys

The only downside of this is how GAF is going to see another wave of "Why Nintendo Should Go Third Party" threads that are as shortsighted as the average Nintendo investor.

I was hoping they would add some of the minigames from Super Mario 64 DS. Those were great little minigames.
They could seriously release some by themselves for a dollar each and I'd buy them. I loved the slingshot bobomb one and the trampoline ones so much

Actually I wonder if this help to sell Super Mario Makers for 3DS. The timing is perfect after all.

Yeah, definitely, it's not only for the Switch. Remember though that Sun and Moon came out longer after the release of Go than the difference between now and the Switch's release.

Worth mentioning Pokemon Go was spread by word of mouth alone, and had little to no notification on the app store that it had released or was available.

People would be deluded to believe this game would do better on PS or Xbox than on iOS, though. I like Nintendo on mobile because they can be third party, without actually going third party :P It's a great compromise, and a very successful one. Mobile Animal Crossing is going to break Japan in half.

Dropped the $10 on it. Have a what feels like a million dollars in iTunes credit so it's no biggie. Lots of fun! Really dig the replay value when it comes to getting the collectables. Needing to do absolutely perfect coin runs adds to the challenge and I like that.

It's a gud game. Congrats to Nintendo.

It's just thinly veiled port begging really. That or they actually think Nintendo would succeed if they released a direct competitor to the PS4 and X1.

Lots of casuals probably still have dust gathering Wiis around, so makes sense.

The app store didn't let me know about Mario Run either.

It's had banner ads for months, that went to a splash page with a notify when available button. I got that e-mail last night, had already downloaded the game hours earlier though.

Yeah, right.

Keep that bubble intact, mate.

Yeah, no one knew Pokémon Go was coming before launch. Those guys at Gamefreak are truly insane.

I'm super hooked on the Toad Rally mode

If you do the math on the apps that regularly make the Top Grossing list, it's safe to estimate that they sold more than 200,000 copies of the full version.

I'm super hooked on the Toad Rally mode

Toad Rally is the heart of the game and I feel like a lot of people are missing that. The World Tour is best seen as something that just feeds into the other mode.

For something that is advertised heavily and a huge deal and free to download, the amount of downloads don't sound too impressive. To be fair this is just ios so we will see how things go in the following months I guess

3x as much as Pokemon Go on 1st day.

http://www.theverge.com/2016/12/16/13982844/super-mario-run-first-day-downloads

You know, just some facts for the "no one is talking about this game, won't even touch Pokemon Go which was way more popular at launch".

Nope.

They had banner ads on the front page of the store for months. Im absolutely not surprised about the downloads.

I'm curious about the percentage that paid to unlock it.

The app store didn't let me know about Mario Run either.

Are you blind? Because they stopped just short of screaming in your ear.
