5 million downloads does not equal 5 million x $9.99.

.No. It's not. It sucks. It's stupid. It's totally user unfriendly. No excuse for it.
Yes, it is normal. Many mobile games use this system. If you think it's "user unfriendly", add friends another way. I believe in you!
It will probably be the predominant way.
Doubtful. You can add friends in the game using social media.
So?
Wii U doesn't use them. Switch isn't going to either.now im just scared to see them in Switch.
It's just a really bad system. I think if Nintendo goes universal account system with the Switch it will help alleviate the conception that it's "just another Nintendo console".

Now they should put Rhythm Heaven on mobile it would work well and I want that.
My Nintendo is their new universal account system.
As my old boss used to say, the proof in the pudding is in the eating.
I'm glad they are implementing something, but still waiting to see what that something is.
I thought it mentioned 5 million in revenue?
So 500,000 out of the 2,850,000 bought the game.
Let's not kid ourselves, their games would sell great on current gen systems. Surely investors must be thinking this aswell.
It will probably be the predominant way.
...?
About 5million in revenue for a $10 game means about 500,000 sales like they said. I'm not sure what youre getting at.
Let's not kid ourselves, their games would sell great on current gen systems. Surely investors must be thinking this aswell.
That "something" is My Nintendo. You can go register right now! I did eight months ago.
Seems like more evidence to the idea that Nintendo should go third party. No one has ever questioned the strength of their IPs, or their ability to make great games. It's just that they've had a bunch of missteps with hardware. If I was a Nintendo investor, I would be begging them to develop for other platforms. It's just hard for me to believe that they are making more money by not making games for other platforms.
Anyway, Kudos to the big N.

Is it going to let you restore your purchases from previous devices?
Are we going to be able to play multiplayer without the use of any other level of authentication?
Will it provide parties and group chats?
Again, I'm glad they are moving in the right direction, but still reserving myself until the execution has been confirmed.

That's the only IAP. Think!
I gotcha'. I thought you weren't even aware they had a new account system!
Your points are valid. I'm wondering about them myself!

People don't have to buy the (expensive for mobile) IAP, and many will have downloaded without even knowing there would be one. 'Think!'
.

Are you talking about Apple? Because that's certainly what their over-priced and "last-year" tech is.
I haven't played it enough. Geez. It's been out for less than half a day. It sure seemed like I was being offered tickets and stuff for money. Maybe that's the sole and only payment I will ever have to/get to make.
What is Apple hardware? This. I want the games, just not their outdated and overpriced hardware.
So based on revenue, is the amount who bought substantial comparative to other pay to play games on the storefront?
I would believe that is the case.Is it going to let you restore your purchases from previous devices?
Nintendo Account. My Nintendo is the reward program.
What is Apple hardware?
A 10% conversion rate in a pay-to-unlock mobile game is unprecedented, AFAIK.
But assuming the conversion rate remains the same, the game would need to be downloaded around 180 million times to match the gross revenue of New Super Mario Bros U.
Software sells hardware, Nintendo's real bread and butter.Sure, but the profit margin on this has got to be immense compared to NSMBU, and despite Apple getting their cut that's nothing compared to manufacturing, distribution, and retail taking their slices.
Let's not kid ourselves, their games would sell great on current gen systems. Surely investors must be thinking this aswell.
Apparently with similar types of games about 1% of people who download the game buy it, and based on the data here we have 10% of downloaders buying it.
Arguing more for the existence of affordable, non-$700 phones that exist Android-side, like OnePlus.
Nintendo does good --> Third Party
Nintendo does bad --> Third Party
Same song every thread about Nintendo.
Just reinforces that people would love to play Nintendo games, just not on Nintendo's terrible hardware.
Would love to know how many people paid the $10 for the full game. Saw a lot of angry tweets about the price point.
