Any recommendation on which Ys games to pick up/play first? Played my first Falcom games earlier this year (Cold Steel I & II) and loved them.

So my combat standards are like this: Im not coming in expecting Dark Souls or Ys or top-tier Action RPG battles here. I just need something thats not too brain dead but response to controls/movement and not just press attack to win. Don't want to feel like I'm fighting the game controls while I'm fighting enemies either.
MGSVs story I CAN be ok with BUT I do lean towards fantasy RPGs vs stealth action games.
If the combats THAT shit then I have not prob going towards MGS

Check out video of Ys I and II and see if that type of gameplay interests you. They're good games, but I could under it not appealing to some people. After that, I recommend checking out Felghana, then Origin. Both are A++ titles. You have to buy at least one of them this sale.
The Ys and Xanadu titles are some raw-ass action rpgs. So good.

Did they change the way Steam refunds work? I just got a refund for a game I bought a couple of weeks ago, and it says I should have the money back within 7 days, but underneath the pending total on my account page it says the funds will be available within 24 hours. It's been a long time since I got a refund but I don't remember seeing that before.

Okay, I'm intrigued
I played Origin first, but in hindsight it does have a lot of callouts to Ys I & II. I would recommend playing those two first, but it's not a big deal. At a least for me, as I'm not particularly enchanted by the story and lore, although it is interesting. The meat of the Ys series is the gameplay, boss fights and music.

The combat is not shit in the slightest, that's just one of this forum's pet hyperboles. It's no Dark Souls but it's absolutely fine and has a fair level of challenge if you play on a harder setting. The real draw of Witcher 3 is the story, though, and it's light years beyond MGS5 there. If you like fantasy stuff, Witcher 3 is an absolute no-brainer choice here. It's the best game I played last year and this year. Also it has an actual ending, which puts it one more up on MGS5.
It's pretty wild. The gameplay alone got me hooked into the series. I can honestly say (for Oath at least) that it's one of the more fun ARPGs I've played in a good while.

Jotun is...ok. Most sections not involving the bosses are boring.
The level scaling is old school. A single level can make a world of difference during boss fights.

Like just general travel boring or are they about taking in the world? I enjoy the time between combat in games like Shadow of the Colossus or Titan Souls, or hell, even Uncharted, if it's done well.
