Steam Winter Sale 2016 thread of hoping for better deals elsewhere

thumper is a sick game

I find myself actually shouting "Woo!" and stuff as I play it.

Did anyone manage to get Stellaris at 66% off? It looked like what happened was, there are the three versions of the game which were supposed to be 33% off, and they somehow combined two of them so one was 66% off and the other zero.

So, why was Onimusha 3 taken off Steam now that I'm checking my wishlist. Jean Reno contract ended?

Jace, if you can find a gift copy of that, I'll buy it off you.

Why would I play that when I could just play DOOM instead tho

well why play anything outside of your favorite games :P

it's cheap so if you're interested in that sorta game it's alright, but if you're looking for some action and not tired of more Doom, then Doom is cool too! Point is that they're all cheap ;)

Game worth buying at all on PC? Is online/crossplay top notch at this stage?

Mods are a thing.

I mean, cross play is definitely there. If that's pretty much the only reason you're buying it, though, for the online, you're probably going to be disappointed. There's a lot of lag/rollback issues, mostly one-sided. This season 2 patch has reintroduced launch issues. There's definitely needed balance, and they've introduced some, but some characters have a +1 up on others on things from range to v-skills.

I've spent hundreds of hours on SFV. Hundreds. Sometimes it's really good, sometimes it's really bad. Mostly it's middling, where the odd spike occurs. I've found that it's random and makes absolutely no sense. People on the same connection, in the same house, will experience lag with each other. They've basically got one and an a hamster on a wheel working on connectivity issues/netcode improvements. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Played Tick Tock Island which I bought today. For the price it was a nice diversion, but paying anything more than that would have made it quite a disappointment.
It's a simple game with a nice pixel art style. Nothing wrong with being simple and the exchanges between our hero and the family he's helping are funny and charming but... but there is too much going back and forth between the same rooms to get all the items to complete the list of things to fix.
There's little to think about to progress, the gameplay is paper-tin and the longevity is quite short. I completed it in 2.4 hours (and I had to go out to buy some stuff, leaving the game going, which means 1,4 hours is more like it) but I take my time instead of rushing, so any other person could complete it in 1 hour or less I guess.

But "find more DLC in store" should be where your DLC is listed on the game information page. If not that there is a "DLC" information link to the very right on that same page.
LOL. Thank you, but the train and flight simulator comment was a bit of a joke on the absurd amount (and cost) of their DLC. I really meant more of what Wok posted because I have a shitton of games and can't remember which have DLC I might want.

I'm not seeing that filter in the Steam desktop app or the web version. Is it the Enhanced Steam add-on? Nevermind, just realized it was a link to steamdb.info.

Thank you!

A couple of questions:
  • How is God Eater's gameplay? Is it similar to the Monster Hunter games? I would love to have something like MH on PC, crafting and all.
  • Anyone tried House of Dying Sun? How are the battles? Are they deep and "simulator"-like or it plays more like an arcade?

God Eater is similar to the MH games, yup. You can also craft stuff.

House of the Dying Sun isn't a simulator (can be played without feeling "wrong" on a 360 pad)

The main campaign is pretty short (you can beat it on the lower difficulty level in about 1.5 hours) but as you go up the difficulty ladder, the game becomes more interesting and can last you a lot more.

So cool to see Doom at #1 top sellers. Never thought I'd see the day that a modern Doom game would beat out GTAV and Fallout 4.

As someone who loves the original Binding of Isaac, is the bundle of rebirth and afterbirth amazing? I noticed plus is coming out in January which tempts me to buy it. I don't really want the PS4 versions since it won't have the upgrade until later next year and who knows how good mod support will be.

I have 155 hours in the game. That is to say, I'm a complete noob. But it's pretty good.

The only real disappointment is the new soundtrack. Serviceable but nowhere near the original. Other than that, it's more glorious Isaac, with way better performances. And I think I actually prefer the "new" artstyle, but that's obviously up for debate.

It's only 7th in global top sellers though. GTAV remains #1.

Finnish top sellers are something else and might tell us something little about these sales. #3 is still My Summer Car, $15 game without any discount that released in early access two months ago.

Arcana Heart 3 LOVE MAX!!!!! (these fucking anime fighter names I sware), Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy VI and Saint Seiya Soldier's Soul.

Merry xmas Rhaknar from your friend Rhaknar.

He's not really my friend, I hate myself

I mean you also get Resurrection with it, so that's two 100+ hours games for 20 bucks.
I have a combined 190 hours in both of them (and am still not done with Rage Burst), so I'd say it's already a total steal at that price.

Me and Rhak-Rhak agree on the fact that we'll not be playing these games anytime soon so I guess I can wait until Summer Sale for this. That is unless it reaches a nice price point that it doesn't matter if I buy it now or later.

Fair enough :)
Buying something when you know you're probably not going to play it anytime soon is never a good idea.

I bought Shenzen I/O and spent a half an hour putting together a binder full of technical documents. I am so psyched for this. Zachtronic games are THE best.

I got some money for christmas and now I'm debatting if I should get the Steam Controller or not. I already have a Xbox One Controller on my PC but I'd like to try it. Thing is, with shipping costs are a bit high, bringing it to 50€. Is it worth it though? I didn't pay that much for my Xbone Controller.

What should I get first: Grim Dawn or Tales of Symphonia? I know those are two completetly different games, I just don't know which one I would like to play first, lol.

how could we possibly know which one you would like to play first tho? >_>

not to mention that , like you said, they re completely different gmes / genres. At least Tales has a ending, if that helps, you can play it and move on. Grim Dawn as usual with the genre, doesnt really end I guess.

Oh yeah did you get Paint it back yet?

I'm guessing God Eater 2's a Monster Hunter-like (or at least the closest we'll ever get a MH game on Steam)? I do enjoy that series.
