US PSN Holiday Sale Week 3 (12/20/2016 - 12/26/2016)

Waited and it paid off for FFXV, getting that and Severed.

Also, if you have a pulse and enjoy fun, I suggest Titanfall 2.

D:

Hoping for an answer soon before it goes off sale.

I can only give my very early impressions, but if you were all about the gameplay, then ME 2 isn't terrible. It only took me a couple hours to unlock the double jump, the quick shift, and the skill roll. But I would describe it like this: Catalyst is good in spite of itself.

Everything about it is trying to spite its face. The Ubisoft-style open-world, the ad for the comic so you can see how Faith ended up where she is in the opening of game (something the game constantly refers to) in the loading screens, the shit-writing and stereotype characters. If the gameplay weren't so damn good I would say it is a skip. But it runs at 60 fps or near it for the majority of the gameplay, the combat is terrible but so far there isn't much of it, and the races and stuff are hard but worth the time.

So with my $10 credit I got for buying a Pro I can get Titanfall 2 for $20. How's the single player in this game? I'm not interested in the multiplayer.

So I want to get into FFXIV. The only versions that I see on the store on sale are realm reborn and the other is just called FFXIV online.

I'm not sure which one to pick :0

This is the base game, it comes with a free month.

This is the expansion, no free month included. You don't have to buy it right now since you're just starting, and maybe it'll become part of the base game at some point before the next expansion comes out next year.

Both have their collector's editions on sale as well, not really worth it unless you want some cosmetic stuff.

You don't have to buy the standard edition and Heavensward separately. The one just called FFXIV Online contains everything released up to now. I'd recommend that one unless you're really not sure you'll enjoy the game, in which case just get ARR.

Is the second Shantae game a lot better than the first or about the same?

Shantae and the Pirate's Curse is easily the best game in the series, and I'm including the new one. $5 is a steal, excellent platformer, beautiful pixel art. It's the 3rd game in the series. Risky's Revenge is the second one. It's okay but Pirate's Curse is much better.

Was about to pick up the Battlefront season pass for my kids. I never buy season passes but I noticed in the description it specifically mentnions 4 expansions (I always thought season passes gave everything afterwards).

They specifically want the Death Star mission, is this included in the pass?

thx!

Yes. It's all of it.

Man. I check my e-mail and see something from Playstation with the subject "A special gift just for you". I start getting excited thinking I got a $10 voucher...and it's a holiday dynamic theme.

Womp womp.

Is Oxenfree worth it?

Reviews seem to have some spoilers one way or another.

I played it on PC and loved it. It felt like a nice throwback to old school point and click adventure games, with that "your choices matter" factor thrown in.

The "teen drama" thing turned me off a bit, but that's just me being a grumpy old grump.

I do recommend it if you're a fan of the genre (point and click adventure/story games with light puzzles).

Anybody know how much Heavensward is? I upgraded Realm Reborn from PS3 to PS4, but currently my account doesn't think I own the game and I can't see what the price is. Tempted to get back into it, but I'd like to know the price before I try to sort my account out.

It's $10.

I've asked this question before and didn't get an answer neither.

Guess nobody on GAF bought it or care enough to recommend it...that's basically a huge warning sign.

Loved the original, bought Catalyst. Played the first couple missions and was so bored I stopped playing. Didn't ever go back and sold it. I rarely ever do that with games.

There was just something about it I couldn't get into this time around.

Flash sale was good for those that almost bought anything in the last months at launch. I am hoping week 4 brings some old games for <10.

Yes. The story is trash tier and you wont care about whats happening or the characters but the gameplay and missions themselves are fun. I started out unimpressed but by the time i finished it i still wanted more.
Mhmmmm, the city design is absolutely phenomenal.

Decided to get Shantae: Risky's Revenge, Severed and Oxenfree. Love RR. My first Shantae game and I can't stop playing it. Once I played it, I decided to get Pirate's Curse too. Looking forward to trying that. Severed is really interesting, but I have to play it in small bursts. I haven't gotten to start Oxenfree yet, but I feel this sale worked out well for me! I had been hoping on catching up with some digital games I missed this year and this really helped out a bit.

Yo, guys, I keep telling you, Shantae and The Pirate's Curse is the game to get. It's easily the best one, better than RR.

$5, grab that one too.

Picked up Samurai Warriors 4 Empires, Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters, and Nights of Azure. I had my eye on romance of the 3 kingdoms and exist archive but I got to save some money for Dragon Quest VIII this month. Romance is probably getting a power-up kit later on anyway.

I really loved it, I think I ended running through it about three times too see the various dialogue differences. I was kind of surprised how much even little interactions with characters could line up to make quite a difference in your relationship with them. The dialogue, art direction, and soundtrack are absolutely fantastic, and I loved the characters.

I'm a few hours into Shantae and The Pirate's Curse and it's so far really good.

Hell yeah! The reviews and impressions for 1/2 Genie Hero are really disappointing :(

Seems like it's not as good of a game.

So is it an adventure game in the point and click vein?

I always really want to like those games and I keep buying them but I alway get really bored really fast and don't end up getting very far. The pacing is so slow and the puzzles are always vague and often obtuse.

I think maybe it's just not for me. I couldn't even get into something like Year Walk.
