Valve was fined $3m in a judgement against them in Australia for not allowing refunds to customers.

Although they do allow (limited) refunds now, this case was brought against them for the period of 2011 to 2014, where they found 21,124 tickets in the relevant period containing the word "refund" from consumers with Australian IP addresses.

Also:

Steam must now introduce a compliance program and place an notice in size 14 type on its Australia website informing consumers about their rights.

Whether or not this will lead to refunds to Australian customers according to the law (not limited by the amount of play time) is anyone's guess.

What good games are coming in January that I should hold off my Winter Seal shopping spree?

Is Civ VI worth it? I read that it is a "complete" game instead of piecemeal radical gameplay additions as Civ V. Is it good to buy now? Or wait for a DLC that offers gameplay changes.

Cities: Skylines Disaster DLC worth it too? Most of my mods are updated for the expansion, might as well.

I basically went through a giant list of games that might be discontinued and bought all of those.

Hopefully the few I skipped on don't leave until they go on a proper sale.
 
Hey guys, quick question, I just saw that the season pass for Batman Arkham Knight was really cheap and wanted to know if you recommend it. I liked the game a lot despite it's flaws, but I never really got into buying the DLC. What do you think? Also, what DLC is not included in the season pass?
 
I am fighting myself hard on overcooked .... every single impression is awesome but 30% on a winter sale is against my personal rules ><

What should I do, GAF ?

Killer is Dead is $2.99 and has a pretty sweet art style. Needs a few simple .ini tweaks to get it running up to standard though.

If so then maybe look up a few traders to see if they offer it cheaper

I'd say Valve will follow the letter of the law rather than risk another lengthy court battle. The notice it is required to display on the AU store for a year beginning February 20th is as follows:

On 24 March 2016, the Federal Court of Australia found that Valve Corporation had engaged in misleading conduct contrary to the Australian Consumer Law in representing to Australian consumers via the Steam Subscriber Agreement and Steam Refund Policy that consumers had no entitlement to a refund in any circumstances and that Valve had excluded, restricted or modified statutory guarantees of acceptable quality. You are also entitled to have the video games repaired or replaced by the retail supplier of the video games if the video games fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure. Certain other rights are available directly against manufacturers that cannot be excluded or limited.

The test for acceptable quality is whether a reasonable consumer, fully aware of the state and condition of the video games, would find them:
a. safe, durable and free from defects;
b. acceptable in appearance and finish; and
c. fit for all the purposes for which video games of that kind are commonly supplied. This must take into account the nature and price of the video games, and any statements on packaging or labelling.

So are people just looking for the Ori coupons because they want a better discount than the current one then? I thought the fact that people were clamouring for them, combined with the "meh" sale price, meant that they enabled comboing the coupon with this sale. I guess I intuited wrong then?
