Steam Winter Sale 2016 thread of hoping for better deals elsewhere

Thanks for all the great recommendations so far.

My haul:

- Inside (Already beat it and its very good. I just expected a little bit more after all the praise it received. I think in terms of atmosphere I liked Limbo a little bit more.)
- Pony Island
- VA-11 HALL-A (Played until day 2 and I'm really liking it.)
- Kerbal Space Program

Momodora: Reverie Under The Moonlight
Cally's Caves 3
Cally's Trials
Shantae Pirate's Curse
Shantae Half-Genie Hero

Cally's Caves 3 and Cally's Trials look pretty fun! I think I'll get at least one of them. But I'm confused: what's the difference between them? Which one is better in your opinion?

EDIT: Ok, Cally's Trials is an upgraded Cally's Caves 2.

Received an Xbox Elite controller for Christmas. Was hoping to pair it to my new PC via Bluetooth to play wirelessly, but it doesn't seem to be connecting.

I'm running Win 10, so I thought the controller connected that way. Hmm.

Gotta investigate. Definitely hoping it connects to my Steam Link when it shows up tomorrow.

The Elite doesn't have bluetooth, only the new white one that came with the slim has it.

As far as I recall.

e: b10

That's been fixed and is unrelated anyway.

Cally Trials is an upgrade of 2 with some tweaks.

I would tell you to go for Cally Caves 3 first or if you want there is the bundle with both games and their soundtracks which is pretty cheap if you ask me. Also Cally Caves 4 is being worked on so if you like these games you can keep an eye for the upcoming one :P

So far I've grabbed realMyst Masterpiece edition for a friend and Bard's Tale for my spouse. I'm considering the Turok remaster for myself. Is it any good?

Everyone vote MGSV and don't even pretend like the twist in that game wasn't one of the greatest things you've seen in a game since MGS2. It was Kojima's masterpiece for this generation. Do it for the industry icon SteamGAF.

No.

Anyone have experience with this game? I was really impressed after watching some of the videos. Looks like a good time but I'm still on the fence for the price though I suppose it did just come out so..

It's interesting that the contents of your Steam cart isn't tied to your account, but tied to your cookies.

So my cart at home is different from my cart on my phone.

Is Inside worth $14 and Firewatch worth $12? I have a feeling they'll both be free on PS Plus next year at some point.

That depends on your expectations. They're both about 4h long, without any real replay value other then seeing the whole thing again and look for details you might have missed.

If that's not a problem, then Firewatch is a great buy. A nice change of scenery from pretty much all other games, with great characters, and a map/compass/radio interface that works very well. It's top 3 for me this year-

But don't buy it if you're one of those allergic to "walking simulators" or if you're rushing games with lots of dialogues. Then it's just a waste of money and time.

One of the best games of the year. Stages have high replay value as well.

So I bought Audiosurf 2 for the sale and I've been playing it quite a bit. Audiosurf 1 is the game that pretty much introduced me to Steam so very many years ago and I've played a ton of it. And while Audiosurf 2 has better and smoother graphics, better interface, better leaderboards and such, I kind of prefer the first game's level generator over the sequel's. While Audiosurf 2 might technically generate more competitive levels, the first game seemed to make levels that synced more in tune with the music you were surfing. Some songs were hard, some were relaxing, but all seemed to "mesh" better with the actual music. In Audiosurf 2 every song seems to have a lot of extreme downhills, and most songs feel very similar to each other.

I'm not sure which one I prefer...O_o

It's really, really good, a true Commandos spiritual successor.
It also adds new mechanics with snow and night-time stages.
And it has great voice acting and a decent story.
The only negative is that trying to go the non-lethal route is almost impossible because people wake up way too fast
You can try out the demo,if you like it you will like the whole game too.

Yep. Back when Russian trading was a thing, I used that to make a list of stuff to buy, then would handle it to my trader which could then buy everything on his account and then gift them to me.

I wasn't really a fan of Inside. In my opinion it's considerably inferior to Limbo, and while I don't regret the purchase, I could have lived never playing it. It's not like it isn't worth $14, it's just that for that money you could do better, unless you really need a cinematic, physics-based 2D platformer and you've already played Limbo and Another World.

Inside, aside from being great, wouldn't be $14 worth for me. In my opinion it was way too short.

Thank you. Sounds like I'm going to wait for these to drop a little more. I'll just have to skip them for my GOTY votes.

Wish I knew why my credit card was getting declined on Steam and literally nowhere else on the planet. Oh well, I guess I'll spend my post-holiday grip elsewhere.

Awesome. Thanks guys! Gonna give the demo a quick go but I'm thinking this is a purchase. :)

Almost done with my Steam purchases for this Seal.
I have maybe a handful of gifts to buy for my cousin who just started up his Steam account.
