Steam Winter Sale 2016 thread of hoping for better deals elsewhere

Welp, my phone went out of commission, along with my Steam Guard. I have backup codes, but I presume I can't use the market until like 2 weeks after I get a new phone?

I was getting pretty annoyed with God Eater because I'd been fighting the same types of enemies for hours and then they introduced a monster that is a giant grim reaper on tank treads that shoots missiles and I'm back in. Hope there is so much more like that.

Got Cities Skyline, Ori, and Stardew valley

Any other good ''simulation'' game I should look at ? Already got Civ... How is Simcity now? Is it still broken crap?

Or any good metroidvanias? I have momodora and shantae's pirate curse already too

Could you guys give me some online multiplayer games for at least three people? Looking to play with some friends since the sale is here. I would prefer a co-op campaign but I wouldn't be opposed to other recommendations.

Thanks!

Pretty please?

You can have 5 party members.

I was just going to say that :3

why the fuck did they go 3 members later on? thats a big pet peeve of mine with jrpgs, dont give me these huge rosters and then I can only use 3 >_>

what's the best free password manager out there, that works well both on desktop and mobile?

I don't know if there is a best one as such, but Lastpass. It used to be that mobile access was premium only, but they made multi device access free a little over a month ago.

If it's gotta be 100% free across the board, I guess some version of KeePass and whatever mobile app supports KeePass files and sync the files on Dropbox or whatever? LastPass is pretty cheap and great though. I use 1Password, which I think is the best, but their business model sucks and I fart on their faces now. Any password manager is better than none.

So my wife is interested in the Witcher 3. Any idea when it will stop being on sale? I'm pretty new to the whole steam sale thing, is the discount good until the 2nd?

Thanks, I'll see if anyone is selling their Lastpass key from the Humble Bundle for cheap.

Not sure if you were after a bit more obscure indie titles, but thinking about Co-op with two friends reminded me of The Division. We really had a blast when the game was released. If you have problems with bullet sponges on realistic setting though, this might not be for you. Since it's also designed with RPG mechanics.

If you're into twin stick shooters, Helldivers is quite neat. For hack n slash experience, you could look into Torchlight 2.

And honestly, one can never go wrong with Civilization games. Play with your friends or against.

For competitive racing, Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed is really fun.

Hopefully one of these could interest you.

Edit: Oh yeah, saw this mentioned. Rainbow Six Siege is great. If you are looking for multiplayer FPS

Just your wife? The expansions are glorious too btw. And you are correct on the sales ending.

Australian gibberish.

If you can't find one, and if all you need is desktop and mobile, free will still work just as well.

Come to think of it, I don't think I use any of the subscription features anymore. Huh.

Oh.. goos to hear.. no longer have time to sink into another BG2 or Torment really.. not with the life of a new dad..

Lastpass for civ in space itch? Lol

Gee thanks for taking it off my cart... :-(

Haha, yeah, it was a bit of a slog. I did play both expansions, that probably added 30 hours.

The lore is just so... dense.

Between hour 40-80 was just me going through the motions, but by the last 20 hours I thought the game was okay ;)

I crushed Wasteland 2 in 80 hours and it was fun all the way through. I started Pillars probably 11-12 months ago and have been playing on and off.

It really doesn't take that long unless you read absolutely all the superfluous text.

LOL, there is so much text though. Even if you skip everything and don't do the expansion, it's at least 40 hours. There's a lot of travelling and backtracking.

But I did do most of the game. I didn't do all the bounties and I skipped 4 companion quests, but I did the Endless Paths, the optional battles, all but two or three side-quests, built my hold (mostly happens through the passage of time), and read a lot of the text.

I already got it. :)

Thanks for the response.

I really, really, REALLY like Far Cry Primal

Enjoy! Last night I tamed my last missing beast, gave it a pet and deleted the game. It was a lot of fun.

In the last ten minutes, I comically learned, rare beasts give off a scent trail making it easier to identify them, you can jump your sabertooth while riding, and you can actually see Takar from the owl. It feels a little funny to have missed these things the whole time.

Your sling is also a weapon and not just a distraction. I learned that at about hour 12. :D

We have (seemingly, some) similar tastes in simulation games. I recommend RimWorld and Factorio.

from what I read, syncing seems to be restricted to premium accounts? So if I save a password on my desktop, I need to save that password on mobile too, manually?
weird, on their site on the premium tab it says "Unlimited sync between devices". Free just says "It can be used in any device".
I'm not sure where it says that exactly, I don't see a premium tab as such, but their helpdesk says this.

Now, you can use LastPass on any device, anywhere, for free. No matter where you need your passwords – on your desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone – you can rely on LastPass to sync them for you, for free. Anything you save to LastPass on one device is instantly available to you on any other device you use.

One of the premium features is "An ad-free vault", but I have no idea how they surface ads in the free version.

Cheaper than GAMEPUMP though.

Thinking about getting Dark Souls 3 but had a few quick questions that hopefully someone can answer.

Are there still issues with online multiplayer, specifically the cheating/hacking portion of it?

Is the game technically sound or are there bugs that are quite common? I've played every souls game on the PS3/4 so I have no experience on how well the game is ported over to the PC.

Lastly, would anyone answering my post be able to recommend the season pass? I've thoroughly read reviews of the latest one released and how subpar it is overall. I understand that the dlc was more PvP focused (for some really odd reason). Now I am not a huge PvP guy but I definitely do enjoy it at times.

God Eater Resurrection is pretty alright so far, I like how fast the missions are you just load in, do dirt, leave. A mission takes about 5 minutes or less. It's been nice to play while listening to Giant Bomb GOTY podcasts. I normally don't like the anime games but the GB coverage of this and the second one made it seem really fun, and for $20 for two games, you can't beat it.

I forgot to mention one of my friends has a low end PC and smaller games would be ideal.

So far Livelock looks to have potential but my friend also had issues running Renegade Ops. To narrow it down we played/tried most of these suggestions and have played Diablo 3 , Renegade Ops, Titan Quest, Hammerwatch, Lara Croft GoL (should see if they're interested in the sequel), most fighting games.

Played it for over 140hrs and there is nothing wrong with it. Port is great and the few small issues it had were ironed out a long time ago. Game is great. As for the online stuff it was pretty good for me other than few occasions with disconnects when summoning and stuff like that. Overall it was minor and hacking wasn't an issue either. In fact DS2 had bigger hacking problem from what I experienced. I don't pvp much tho.

As someone who has 105+ hours in it and I don't pvp (find it boring), I recommend the game with season pass.

I met only around 4 people cheating, which is weird what people say as you are required to do a lot of pvp if you want all the achievements.

The current DLC is great honestly. Lasted me about six hours, which for how much content seems right. Did not see pvp really at all. I see it more on a new character run, low sl level and in undead settlement. Though some of the twinked pvpers have some items from the DLC. Which means they worked their butts off to get it.

Forgot to mention cooperation is easy, especially with friends and the password system.
