Best attack animations?

Second page in and no Third Strike or Garou? For shame, GAF.

Zable Fahr, God-Beast of Darkness in Seiken Densetsu 3. Where the boss calmly sits there blasting you to pieces with incantations that pretty much make nuclear bombs go off on the dream-world battlefield, and a steady drumbeat accompanies the fight.

The Assassin's Creed games imo have some of the best animations.

My personal favorite was AC3, it was the biggest change up to the attacks, with a lot of multi-person animations (which they for some reason ditched in the later games).

they brought them back for syndicate but they are laughably bad

Also continuing on, the animations for the Project X Zone Series are also pretty amazing in how they combine two different characters attacks into tag-team attacks with standard combos like Ryu and Ken to weird ones like Frank West and Hsien-ko. But they somehow manage to to work showing off the strong teamwork in the pair units.

Project X Zone - All Attacks Exhibition (Super Attacks / Multi-Attacks / Bosses / etc)

Project X Zone 2 - All Attacks Exhibition (Specials / Multi-Attack / Bosses / etc) [プロジェクトクロスゾーン2]

I don't have a gif but the transition attack from sword to hammer with the Kirkhammer in Bloodborne. Lock that shit in place then WHAM slam that shit down. So good.

Probably not.

Necks are more sturdy than games would tell you.

That reminds me

Sad that I can't find a nice high quality gif of this with a head explosion.

Yep, just about the only well executed thing about that game.

I can't find a good gif, but I always thought the ones in Kingdoms of Amalur were pretty great.

And yeah, FFXV is definitely way up there.

Can't choose a particular one, but the Fire Emblem GBA games really make you feel like every hit has its weight.

Although they're basic I love the attack animations from the Kunio-kun series.

I still feel that Yakuza is just a modern take on that series fighting style wise.

Rolling Death Cradle.

Heh. I remember discovering this move when I was creating a move in one of the Smackdown games. Has to be the weirdest wrestling move ever.

Anyway, King is one of my favourite Tekken characters. His moves are so satisfying. Especially when you pull this off...

I dislike the over-the-top moves, but I still like a nice flow, so Uncharted 4's animations are really wonderful for me.

Assassin's Creed always had cool animations too. It's not necessarily fun for me to play, but it's really cool to watch.

dat sound effect when you successfully gun-parry..
feels good man

Sleeping Dogs for one.

Would probably say PSO2 / Mon Hun / Souls series as well. Games where attacks have weight are also showcased reeeally well.

I have a feeling I'll be linking ones from Granblue Re: Link if there's a thread like this coming 2018 (or whenever we get it).

The Monster Hunter games have always had great attack animations but some of the "Hunter Arts" attacks added in MHGenerations are crazy. Here's a hilarious gif that demonstrates my point:

For RPG battle animations, Breath of Fire 3 has a really nice touch where child Ryu will start out randomly flailing his sword around like a scrub, but after a while his animation changes and becomes more confident.
