That's true. They really should package it with consoles or sell it at a very low price. A lot of MMOs don't even charge for the game, or charge something like $19.99. F2P MMOs are not about getting the initial game sale profit; that's peanuts compared to the constant transactions you hope to pull in, and you can't pull those in without lots of people playing.

Because it's January and there's not a whole lot of opportunities to show anything at the moment; E3 is a full 5 months away. If you just stay radio silent when all these people have all these concerns, you just end up with a No Man's Sky situation. He needs to say something to reassure people that their concerns are being heard.

Yeah I think I hit my limit with MS lol. I was pretty gung-ho about picking up the Scorpio but I think my next step will be a gaming PC.

People want new and inventive games. And this far into the generation, we should have them.

I've had my Xbox since launch and I don't feel like it's any closer to being the console that Phil has supposedly envisioned, and I'm not confident it's going to get there any time soon. I feel like we're actually just getting further from the goal. If I could do this gen over I'd do it differently. I'd still own an Xbox One but I'd have waited for a dirt cheap Halo 5 bundle to just use it as a Halo machine, like several of my friends did. I would have been content with that.

Indeed and i get that, im particularly upset with the loss of a Kamiya AAA game - but a new console is on the horizon I dont think MS would push to make the most powerful console without planning a bunch of games that take advantage of it, that defies reason. The issue is a new console doesn't fill the void of whats actually more important which is software. Though I'm glad Halo wars got a sequel it's still a game based on a franchise, it does look tits and im awaiting for how it runs on PC, but if yo can't see how we are upset that Microsoft is form the outside looking like the tale end of 360 then I dont know what to tell you.

We all believe in software. Again we have to wait like we always do to say convincingly if they have little for Scorpio. But I dont understand you say they've been failing event though thier sleak console is selling better then expected, outright beat PS4 in some places. They released FH3 which has been a huge success (best racer this gen) and its obvious Gears helped. So yes they need software but no, they are not failing miserably, they're not doing as well as Sony in most places but its still performing strongly.

Maybe we're interpreting his tweets differently, but I feel he is doing what you are saying. He's not boasting about taking risks, he's saying he knows they have to continue taking risks after this cancellation. Most guys at executive positions are not gamers. I recall an interview with Jack Tretton where he said more or less that the last thing we would want to do is to play games. Which is logical, if you are talking, working and breathing something so much time, you just get tired.

It's too late. Games take time to develop, and they have nothing in their sleeves for the next 18 months. It's going to be another long year where Sony has big releases every other month and the Xbox is graced by more sprig name sequels for just three months of the year.

Microsofts decades long failure to invest and grow games developers is one of their biggest strikes against them. Even when they were riding high on the 360 and Kinect they still utterly failed to build anything for the future. Sony might produce some shit games, but at least they keep trying and taking risks.

Sony has a long history with creative arts in Movies/Music, and they treat games the same so no, there is a huge difference between the two , and their corporate culture. Sony believes in the creative process and sees games the same way. Not all companies are the same , thinking they are is "Odd".

As far as really notable people go, Gregg Mayles is still there. He was the lead designer for Donkey Kong Country 1 & 2, the Banjo games, Grabbed by the Ghoulies and now Sea of Thieves.

You talk of Mattrick being in charge of the 360 boom era, when that was really the foundation and groundwork built by guys like J. Allard, Peter Moore, and Shane Kim.

And its the reason why in their absence, the climate @ Xbox changed.
