Where's the games? I was expecting a lot of games!

Don't get me wrong - the Zelda trailer was awesome. And even though I'm not normally a Mario player, that looked good, too. But that's nowhere near enough (especially considering how far away Mario is, and the chance that it will get delayed). They should have way more ready for launch given that they've been silent for so long.

I was also really hoping for some sort of sign that the Japanese third parties that have been supporting the Vita would be migrating to the Switch, but no sign of that so far (and no, SMT doesn't count because ATLUS was already giving Nintendo support). But I suppose I can't fault third parties for not supporting Nintendo's new system when it seems that even Nintendo is barely supporting it.

Feels like Wii U 2 for me. In most every way.

I do think they'll be able to offer better software support but I just don't think this system is going to take off.

Might wait for the inevitable Holiday bundle. I doubt I will be able to pre-order one anyhow and outside of Zelda there is not much else I want to play until Mario.

The format of the presentation was great. So much better than a Direct.

The content? On one hand you have Zelda, Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade 2 and a handful of JRPGs, but on the other hand why wouldn't you show the damn launch line-up when you plan to charge that much for Switch? You bring those 3rd parties on scene and none has a launch game? WTF?

Why was SEGA there anyway?

How is possible to still have "Spring 2017" as a launching date when your console comes out in less than 2 months.

The games are beautiful, but Nintendo really fucked up this event. And the price. And paying for online.

New Mario? (My first favorite series of all time)
New Xenoblade (My favorite new series)
New Zelda (My all-time favorite series)

And awesome stuff for my family to enjoy, too???

DAY

EFFING

ONE.

(screw you jaded contrarian snobs)

Zelda did it for me. And I can't wait to play the definitive version of smash brothers everywhere I go.

So their gonna fuck over Wii U owners who would rather buy Zelda on Wii U, and release the Wii U version in the summer aren't they? Fuck you Nintendo.

Why, because of a late night Japanese press conference wasn't to your liking? Do we really have to go to Nintendo is dead mode already?

Price, insanely minimal launch lineup, few of the games talked about are scheduled for even a 2017 release, accessories price is crazy high. Right now just to play zelda with a pro controller you are talking about $430+tax in USA. Thats more than a PS4 Pro and almost double an xbox one S on discount.

I assume there will be more launch titles added to U.S and PAL*

*Like Just Dance 2017.

You know I don't think this will tank, but I hope it's tanks enough that Nintendo starts making games for more powerful hardware

I mean holy cow 2 games, 1 game if you don't count ports

Holy cow

Much like the Wii U...I can't help but think they'd have been better off dropping the screen idea and just sticking it's guts in a box and launching at a lower price.

When the cheap price rumours were flying I thought it might have done well...but at $299 it's way underpowered to appeal to the home console market...and way too expensive to appeal to the handheld market.

They doubled down on the Wii U and 3DS launch mistakes.

Seeing that my thread got closed, I'll put this here:

This is what I got so far, according to Nintendo's Official site:

Launch Games:
Dragon Quest Heroes
Super Bomberman R
Disgaea 5
Zelda: BOTW
Nobunaga’s Ambition
I Am Setsuna
Dragon QUest Heroes 1-2
Switch 1-2
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

2017:
Mario Odyssey
Splatoon 2
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Skyrim
MineCraft
Dragon Quest 10
Dragon Quest 11

What am I missing?

Launch seems fine to me.

The only problem is that at launch, on the 3rd, they only mentioned 2 games. The others, even on the site, only say march, Why didnt they say march third for dragon quest if it was for the 3rd

why are people ok with paid online for sony and microsoft but not nintendo?
To be fair, unless this system starts getting good third party support, what are you going to play?

How long are you going to pay what will probably be $50-60 a year to play Splatoon or Mario Kart?

Two months

For a port

Of a game from 2014

They were never going to release all this stuff same day. They're likely banking on BotW a lot to be a major seller and they don't seem to have a lot of stuff on hand. They're probably hoping on BotW being the major game for hardcore fans and then 1, 2, Switch being something that will resonate with casual players to get them through that first 2 months or so. Then MK8 comes out, pretty much the biggest Nintendo title out there to keep sales going. It's a lot of assumptions on their part, ones I'm not necessarily in agreement with, but it makes some sense in a best case scenario.

It's going to be $50 to buy ONE HALF of the controller. And yes, it is basically a half a controller because without the second joycon you will be severely restricted as to what you can play.

This is pretty much feelings on this as a non-nintendo fan:

Idk if Splat is a system seller. So sales could be rough post Zelda while the wait for Mario happens.

This feels like a solid system that just doesn't have enough going for it at launch nor is the pricing correct. So basically the 3ds which turned out great once it price corrected and got more games.

Really on the fence if I should spend $300 or just get Zelda Wii U and wait for this all to play out.

Zelda launching ...?

ONE LAST THING?!

Oh it's just Zelda. Thought Smash for sure. :(

Its still hype, but not Smash.

Launch Day!

I personally thought it was fine; we all know there will be more than two games at launch. Calm down.

Going to keep dreaming Nintendo goes third party sooner rather than later...

Hell I would buy your Mario, zelda, etc ontop of paying a subscription access to the virtual console.

This conference was a disaster. So much shit turning up that we have to scrounge through that easily could've been in there. No launch games or anything. WTF.

That Zelda trailer was amazing but man, that conference raised more questions than it answered. On top of the ones it didn't answer.

This is what should've been in the conference. A clear lineup of all the games available at launch. WTF...

Yes why wasn't it? Isn't this their moment to say with everyone's attention, here is what we have? Not, here's one or two things and go read a list of what else is coming out.

It'll be like the 3DS and take a bit of time to warm up. At least they're being straightforward about that (and Breath of the Wild is a shitton more substantive than the 3DS's launch lineup all by itself, both in terms of quality and how long it will occupy you). And it will be better-paced than the 3DS, where you got a trickle in Spring and then shit-all until holiday 2011 when the good stuff started rolling in.

Me, i'll go Zelda -> maybe ARMS -> Mario Kart -> Splatoon 2 ----> Mario, and i'm sure more stuff will be announced in between, or have launch dates confirmed, like Skyrim or Sonic.

"Insiders" dropped the ball hard. LKD: no Rabbids, no Beyond Good & Evil, no Splatoon bundle at launch, no $249, no March 17 release date; Liam Robertson SPECIFICALLY saying Mario Kart remaster won't be called "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe"...

Beaten by 4chan of all things.

People are gonna say its a terrible lanuch, but its not.

Its getting Zelda. Typical game launches are terrible with no heavy hitters.

It's Zelda and then what? When does Spatoon come out. Mario is Holiday. Those RPG's we saw? They aren't coming out this year.

And I'm not too sold on the whole 3rd party thing yet. EA is only committing to FIFA. Bethesda is committing to a 5 year old game. Lots of the games are just starting production.

Like I don't care if the PS4 launched with UC4. If it only had two gimmick games along with it. That's just not a good sell.

Then MK8 comes out, pretty much the biggest Nintendo title out there.
I kind of figured we'd get at least Mario Kart on the first day, considering the other launch games are another Wii U port and some dumb mini game thing

Zelda aint gonna last no one two fucking months

I'm irresponsible with my money and even I'm not preording this, and I bought a Wii U at launch

The good: Zelda, Mario, Xenoblade 2, FE Warriors, SMT, that pixel/3D fusion looking RPG, and the return of Travis Touchdown. ARMS looks kind of cool too.

The bad: Overpriced and most of the games looked super early. Like not-launching-until-2018 early. I guess Nintendo wasn't kidding when they delayed it due to software. Also no mention of VC.

The ugly: Was that SF2 HD from almost 10 years ago? Are you kidding me, Capcom?

Overall pretty disappointing. There was some good stuff in there but the presentation fell flat. It took way too long to get started and Switch 1-2 was a terrible lead off. I felt particularly bad for Suda when he tried to have a little fun with his entrance and the audience was having none of it. Then came the snafu with Travis' character art and the flubbed translation.

This is the reason Iwata abandoned live shows in favor of pre-recorded directs.

Mario Kart is April 28.

The Nintendo games look great- they are just coming out later than everyone thought.

And third party Japanese presence is minimal so far.

/Might have well have called it the 'Wii Piss'. Because that's exactly what they did tonight. I'm not normally given to rabid commentary on the internet, but I think Nintendo finally consigned themselves to third party today. Fuck.
