"Insiders" dropped the ball hard. LKD: no Rabbids, no Beyond Good & Evil, no Splatoon bundle at launch, no $249, no March 17 release date; Liam Robertson SPECIFICALLY saying Mario Kart remaster won't be called "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe"...

Beaten by 4chan of all things.

The only reason people like that ever get attention is because their "rumours" sound much nicer than reality is ever going to be with modern Nintendo. Mother 3 and female Link should have been the final indicator that you gotta stop caring about them, but oh well.

That launch lineup is a joke. How can they not have MK8 Switch ready to go for launch, isn't it essentially an add-on pack for an existing game?

Nintendo first party studios have put out nothing but 3DS ports and star fox in the last 12 months, I was really expecting a lot more, even if they were only Wii U ports to pad out the lineup.

As for 3rd party I kept thinking of those rumors that the specs/dev kits were locked really late in the process - it just felt like no one has had time to get anything in place.

Waiting for confirmation on the Australian price, but at this point it's more for curiosity's sake. I'd assumed I'd be jumping on a pre-order, but it's feeling like I might wait for the end of the year and see where it's sitting.

Hmmm... I was pretty convinced that I would get one at launch, but right now, I'm little reserved. Perhaps in the summer or fall, maybe? I like the price and all. Pro con, I might consider - but paid online isn't much of an issue either. PSN and XboxLive has been around ages, and I think it's just about time that Nintendo join that group. Modern day seems to be all about paid subscription anyway. :( I am more of a single player person, so I'm okay with whatever they put out.

Zelda looks amazing. I am pretty certain I will get that one for my Wii U, hoping it would be out at the same time as Switch version, and hope it would be well optimized for it too.

Other than that - nothing really catches my attention. Even Mario Odyssey - I'm sure it would be a great game, but why am I getting this feeling of Sonic Adventures vibe, especially with NYC one? Seeing real-life sized people with small Mario, just feels wrong, just like that Sonic Adventure (loved the game though), or that princess with Sonic. ;)

Paying for online was an unexpected blow, maybe they'll offer free VC games or something each month? But damn I can't be paying for PSN, XBL and now this.

Is someone going to post a link to GAF's reaction to the reveal of the Wii or am I going to have to do it myself? /s

In all seriousness, the price is good and Zelda, Mario, and Splatoon look awesome. Launch will be weak but I'm guessing Nintendo doesn't care about launch as much as they do Holiday 2017. That raises the question of 'Why not just release the console in the Fall when there's a full lineup?' Couldn't tell you. Maybe they'll suddenly announce a competent launch lineup tomorrow on the Treehouse?

I'm excited! Seems reasonable for the price, and I'm buying into it purely for Nintendo main franchises, not interested in online, third party, extra controllers, etc - this is a travel/work device for me. If I do end up getting online, I'm fine paying for quality (which is the only reason I would pay for it in the first place). I have a great PC and the other two consoles for that, anyways.

Absolutely perfect for my case!

1. 2 Switch should have been a pack-in game like Wii Sports. This not going to catch with the casuals if you need to buy the game separately. Hoping for retailer bundles towards the holidays.

Honestly it doesn't matter that this is Nintendo. I don't care who it is having two titles at launch is a fucking disaster....doesn't matter that one of them is botw. They better hope they can hold their shit together until mario launches closer to christmas. Hardware looks great and I could even stomach the $300 price but not having shit besides botw for launch is the deal breaker...at least until Mario launches. Honestly what the fuck is nintendo thinking??

I don't actually care about only two launch titles. 3DS proved it's not a long term problem if there is something further down the line to pick up the slack.

However it's not got the games that really made the 3DS a hit.

It's actually going to lose out against the Wii U and 3DS. By being so console orientated with a big Zelda and Mario - the handheld side of things is dead in the water. Wii U will have Zelda. 3DS will have actual fucking handheld games.

It's launching with one exclusive game. Which i think looks.neat but I don't do coop and frankly is just more motion stuff.

I'm so frustrated. What is this product? It's supposed to be a hybrid but all I saw were home console games.

100% with you man.

Stayed up late, with mildly optimistic expectations. Feel massively let down. Nintendo have fucked it again it seems. Especially with regards to pricing of console, accessories, lack of launch lineup and now a charge for online services...

Gah. Nintendo, why do you have to be such heart breakers.

Supposed to be getting married tomorrow too. Ah well.

Since Mario is not coming out until holidays witch was not really that surprising. I guess there is no real rush to get switch at launch since Zelda is coming out for the Wii U .

If you want to play Dragon Quest then this is the place to be.

PS4's already got two of them at higher fidelity, DQXI will certainly look better as well, and they have DQ Builders on top of that... As ever, the value proposition rests entirely on their first party output.

They really did a bad job of selling me on a Nintendo Switch.

I didn't get to see the system UI. Hell, I didn't get to see the shape of the game boxes. I've got so little to wrap my imagination around the experience of getting one.

They showed the home menu for like 3 seconds I think right before Mario

Zelda at launch, Mario Kart in April, Splatoon in June/July, Mario in October/November. That's honestly not a bad launch window.

I think you guys are forgetting how awful system launches usually are.

Isn't the 'launch window' normally considered like 3-4 months? I think it's a bit of a stretch to get to November and still be talking about a launch

Even Mario Odyssey - I'm sure it would be a great game, but why am I getting this feeling of Sonic Adventures vibe, especially with NYC one? Seeing real-life sized people with small Mario, just feels wrong, just like that Sonic Adventure (loved the game though), or that princess with Sonic. ;)

It is very wrong, and the stages look very...bare?

They should have delayed this thing by a year. There's absolutely no advantage to them launching now. 3DS definitely had another years worth of life to it and this half assed console will do unreversible damage to the console brand after the Wii U.

Why is no one talking about the 2.5 hours of battery life? That seems worse than even the worst predictions.

I already carry a sizeable battery pack with me, with plenty of usb c cables. Battery life isn't a problem for me.

What type of battery life were people expecting?
