GAME DETAILS
Since its release in 1985, Bomberman has been a familiar party-battle game for many years. Now, Bomberman is coming back as "SUPER BOMBERMAN R" to Nintento Switch.
In SUPER BOMBERMAN R, the simple rule remains the same: operate the main character (Bomberman), place bombs, and battle with enemies and rivals, but it's coming back in a modern style with 3D stages and photo-real graphics. You can enjoy battles with rivals from all over the world.
There is "Battle" mode for maximum of 8 players, and single play "Story" mode (cooperative play for 2 players is possible as well) where players clear each stage one by one, with a big volume of 50 stages. Also, there is a new rule where the condition to clear the stage is not just by wiping out all the enemies. This simple but strategic game with new rules and 3D stages is fun for everyone, from children to adults.
Features:
Bomberman is back with the same game system and controllability with a fresh take on a classic title
Photo-real graphics
Bomberman's siblings and well-known enemies are back with rich personality
3D stages with dynamic environments
Battle mode for maximum of 8 players, local connection battles, and online battles
Enriched story with all-star voice actors
Y'know what I'm just gonna go ahead and call it now, one of the new characters in Smash for Switch is gonna be Bomberman.
He wouldn't have made sense in Smash for Wii U/3DS because there hasn't been a Bomberman game in like 40 years but this being an exclusive launch title makes me think if Smash for Switch is getting any new characters beyond those already announced one of 'em is gonna be Bomberman.
Looks like they are putting in minimal effort, but I like Bomberman. Very much so. Will it be 8 players on a single Switch though?
Nice that someone shares my concern, the
"Battle mode for maximum of 8 players, local connection battles, and online battles"
still has me worried. What's the point of including local connection unless it's necessary for 8...?

Do we know the price of this yet? I wonder if they'll release Bomberman 64 on the Switch VC... I friggin' loved that game so much.
I was thinking the same thing about Smash when I saw that they were reviving the franchise for the Switch. It feels like a good deal for both sides -- Nintendo gets an exclusive of a beloved gaming series fallen on hard times, and helps a struggling company relaunch Bomberman to gamers by putting him in Smash. He'd fit right in there anyway.
Even if Konami gets out of console gaming entirely at some point, this ups Bomberman's value in casino and mobile games, and probably gives Nintendo an inside track to license the console rights for future titles and cameos.
I saw that and laughed. It made me feel like a kid again.

The presentation hit all the right note for me. Feel weird to get back on GAF and see all these negative reactionZelda and Bomberman, Mario Kart a month later. I still have no idea how anyone seriously considering buying a Nintendo console could hate this launch line up...

I have been talking to people about that since finding out about this game.
The conclusion we came to is that neither of us would be surprised.
