Jesus everything is a battle with you people. Nevermind that nearly every game since OoT has ended with Zelda right there with you beating the shit out of Ganon or whatever the villain of the day is. If Zelda isn't kicking Ganon's head off while Link cowers in the corner covering his balls you'll declare the game a failure.

D1P because who gives a shit.

Eh. What? We can't want a tough/fighter Zelda for a whole game? A "Nausicaa" for example.
We've seen this song-and-dance before (maybe she'll just fight with you at the end).

If a female character ever needs saving she's immediately useless and trash

Maybe they shouldn't fall back on it for virtually every Princess Zelda and it'd stick out less.

Aonuma is in New York, so we're probably going to get new info at the treehouse.

You can want what you want, but instead of complaining for the sake of complaining you could just accept the fact that this is the Zelda we get. We don't know anything about her character and y'all are already hardcore hating on her.

It could still be after Wind Waker since there are Koroks and you go around the Great Sea trying to repairing the withered trees to unite all the islands together in that game.

That could have easily taken place by the time this game starts.

You're totally right. I guess we are post Wind Waker here. Pretty good if true.

I also feel a bit like the soft princess role for Zelda is a bit too used already, to be honest. Hope this turns out good at the end of the game.

Jesus, what a trailer. That shit was incredible.

I'm also fully on board with voice acting, Zelda sounds great in both languages. I do think her breaking down and crying hit a lot harder in the Japanese version of the trailer though, you could FEEL that shit through the screen.

fuck yes.. i thought it was confirmed or something that the wii u owners would have to wait, so glad thats not the case.

GAF is so weird about english voice acting in Japanese games...
It's 2017 and performances and every year the standard for acting is raised higher and higher. People are expecting more. Especially out of flagship franchises and huge studios. Granted, this is the first time Zelda has ever had VA, but it's still disappointing to hear an actress who sounds bored. It's not just Japanese games either, check out the thread for the new Horizon trailer, which also had pretty meh acting. It's disappointing because
-the score is on point
-the animation is on point
-the art style is on point
-the editing of the trailer is on point

then you have subpar VA take you out of it

Yup.

Even if it were perfect they wouldn't be pleased.
If it were phenomenal many people wouldn't be complaining at all.

It doesn't matter how the previous games ended. What matters is that they take risks and improve things moving forwards.

Okay, analysis time. I'll go over some stuff that caught my eye.

First up we got the path leading to the Great Deku Tree lined with Koroks:

The Great Deku Tree, Koroks, and the Master Sword:

Notice in this scene the Master Sword is surrounded by 3 stone pillars and isn't glowing.

While in this scene the Master Sword is glowing and the pillars are gone:

Do 3 things and get Master Sword lives on?

This spiral land mass appears to be this location on the map:

Link can lasso creatures and ski behind them.

This is an interesting fellow:

He's wearing a mask with an upsidedown Sheikah symbol on it in the same colors as the mask of truth. He has tusks like Ganon, and is wearing Ganon red instead of Sheikah blue.

The Death Mountain Guardian. There appear to be many different giant guardians throughout the land:

Link and Zelda? rest in the rain:

Goron complete with Goron Ruby symbol:

Zoras with Zora Sapphire on the female:

They are red like Rutella from TP:

Great Fairy:

Zelda uses her goddess magic to protect Link from a Guardian. Link is weilding the wrecked Master Sword:

And one of the most interesting things imo.

Zelda pays a visit to one of the springs from Skyward Sword and is apparently doing the same thing Zelda was doing back then:

Also the voice at the end is likely the old man from the plateau, and Zelda is his daughter.

The music at 1:47 is very similar to the File Select/Fairy Fountain theme isn't it? Or is that just me?

Also DAT GORON.

Edit: There are two male voices, there's one that goes "You don't recognize me" and then it shows the fuckin Deku Tree? The other voice is the King since he's all "pls save daughter". WHAT DOES IT MEAN.

Also that great fairy is simply fabulous

I saw Zelda doing some acting and engaging in what appeared to be real drama, which is neat, but then I realized how jarring this is going to be happening around the main character who doesn't speak

It'll be Gordon Freeman times two, because at least you didn't have to look at Gordon as characters acted human around his silent ass

A true gem, beautiful music, battles and I must say, the whole presentation got me. By the way, did I miss something (voices)?

So either the voice at the beginning is old Zelda or Impa. Also the thing Link is lassoed onto in the desert appears to belong to the Gerudo woman, or is the same species. Also Link's shirt is heavily damaged at the end along with the master sword.I thought he was just dirty from mud but yea looks like Link's genuinely gonna get wrecked.

The trailer is amazing, holy crap. HOLY CRAP. That crying Zelda was unexpected!

the only bad voice actor was Zelda's...

I personally think that from what they gave us here, the VA--Zelda included--is fine, good even, and it seems like I am not alone in here thinking that.

Now what?

Who knew a launch game could be this fucking awesome? I'm not a huge zelda fan but after reading about the game, it looks like nintendo has something amazing planned for this game.

I think it'll be fine like it was fine in SS, WW, and TP because link conveys everything through well animated body language. It's probably not going be jarring.

Isn't his whole left arm burnt/bloody?

That's where we disagree, at best it's fine for me compared to a lot of other games this gen, but at worst it sounds eerily similar to a fandub. Like the old woman voice sounds incredibly similar to a young woman attempting an old woman's voice. Zelda sounds like she has a vague accent. The tree also has a weird whisper thing going on and sounds incredibly similar to that one time Appa talked in the last airbender while Aang was trippin. Compared to the high quality of everything else in this specific trailer it takes me out of it.

Yea. Wonder how long he sticks with a broken sword of it all the scenes of it are from the same scene. Really trying to think chronologically where events happen, like if he went on a journey with Zelda considering there's scenes of them undamaged seemingly before she gets the white outfit. Then there's that scene where he's in Hyrule with her.

She didn't sound bored at all to me! She conveyed a lot of emotion in her voice. The Japanese screaming I felt came off a bit too melodramatic, but the British VA felt more sincere and believable.

Well, I personally think it's good. As for the accent, well it's kinda obvious from the very beginning of this game's reveal when she said "Wake up, Link."

In any event, hopefully in the days to come and in the real game Zelda talks a bunch so the VA has more chance to display her work.

Seriously tho, one of the best game trailers I have ever seen. For me, it's great in every aspect.
