Coming from Nintendo, that's one of the most sweeping, moving trailers I've ever seen from them! Quite emotional...it's great. Seeing Zelda as she bares her shortcomings to Link, the implied tragedy...this could be the best Zelda story wise to date. Day 1! If I can afford it lol...

I forget - have the Gerudo been portrayed as allies of the royal family/Hyrule before? I only remember them being in OOT, where Ganon was their king, but they seemed not to be allied with anyone. Maybe they'll again go the route of it being the guardian/whatever Gerudo woman in the trailer who allies with you and the others are more neutral or hostile. They do have a city in the trailer though, so they are presumably at least somewhat friendly.

Thank you and nice work!

Hmm. I would say that this lends more to a post OoT timeline placement. I think this will be the Imprisoning War. It confirms that Ganon is known before his arrival as Calamity Ganon and has been sealed at least once before. The text on the bottom right could possibly reference the sealing of Ganon after Link's defeat at the very beginning of the Downfall Timeline.

Link not wearing his typical green may also hint at him not being recognized as the Hero here, but as one of the Knights of Hyrule. The Hyrule Hystoria hints at the Hero of Time possibly being a Knight of Hyrule at one point as well.

Aren't all the split time lines post OoT? Not asking to be a douche. I do hope this is in the Fallen Hero timeline and involves the Imprisioning War.

Yes, they are but it's a question of which of those three timelines it's continuing on. The fallen timeline right now makes the most logical sense.

EDIT: And I'm in agreement with hoping that it's having to do with the Imprisoning War as well. If that is the case, then we know the game will end with Ganon once again being sealed away with the Triforce still in his possession until the events of ALTTP.

I do wonder if it's possible that the big Goron could be Darunia and the Gerudo Nabooru by chance? Or maybe their descendants?

Seriously, what's the point of this shrine?
Is that a "puzzle"?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKYkBfj2yZc

I know it's probably one of the easiest, but there's nothing to solve here.

On the other hand, excellent news, hidden shrines confirmed:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6gQn18aemE&t=2m32s
.

Some shrines are puzzle focused, but others will be action focused.

And no shiz there are hidden shrines. If all 100+ shrines were visible you would be seeing one every 10 steps.

He's pointing out that this shrine is abnormally short and simple but the truth is that they didn't go through the whole shrine.

I don't think this was in the E3 Demo but whistling now does actually affect the attention of enemies, so you can use it like the knock command in MGSV. So I'm guessing you could use this in tandem with dropping food to distract enemies for long periods of time or lead them into traps by setting bombs up properly unlike in the E3 demo which was one of my minor worries issues with it. Just be aware that it also draws your horse so that also could affect the enemy AI.

So yeah, this Zelda is pretty legit when it comes to stealth mechanics.

I just feel Link is going to talk in this game.

It may be near the end, or a flashback of the past (also near the end) - Link's resurrection took away his ability to speak or some shit.

I just FEEL it. The way these cutscenes are directed, I believe some of these moments would have a lot more weight should Link speak.

You know I just realized something.

The Wii U has permanently fucked up Zelda. If they didnt start development with the shitty gamepad in mind we could have kept motion control combat from Wiimote to Joycon.

Don't feel it'd suit BoTW.

At least its paved the way for a SS remaster. HOPEFULLY the controls work as well for everyone as they did for myself last time.

Also hope they go Windwaker remaster and trim some of the fat from the game.

On a side note - if Fi was to appear in this game, and her fairwell theme from skyward sword play the tears would flow. I fucking hated fi in SS but her farewell still hit me deep. Nintendo's cutscenes for SS were fantastic. Really amazing to see how much of a step up Zelda cinematics have taken.

Amazing trailer !

The only bad part was the voice acting. And it's not that we are not used to voice acting in Zelda, but it was actually pretty mediocre to be honest

No, because those controls wouldn't work in portable mode.

People were still playing the demo after 5PM yesterday, last shot I could take.

45 days and 19 hours until launch. That's about 1.5 months. So close now.

I'm not sure if anyone else here has mentioned it, but in some of the promotional art for the 'Wild Master Edition' it refers to the Master Sword as the 'Sword of Resurrection'. I wonder how that's going to play out in the story.

Not that I recall. I don't think they were mentioned by name in LTTP but they said Ganon belonged to a clan of thieves so obviously not working with the royal family. In OOT they were thieves and bandits while in MM they were pirates who caused a lot of trouble. No appearances in WW but in TP though not seen it seemed they had a similar role to OOT.

Have we talked yet about the Master Sword being located in front of the Deku Tree rather than inside the Temple of Time? I'm guessing that it was moved at some point.

It appears to be moved quite often throughout the series, in what I assume to be in order to protect it. It was moved to Hyrule Castle prior to the events of The Wind Waker at some point.

So are each of the 4 main bosses mechanical? So far, I think we've seen the flying bird thing (Game Awards 2016 trailer) and is that thing on Death Mountain a mechanical salamander? Perhaps summoning these forces was the last result that sealed Ganon after Link was defeated in OoT (in the downfall timeline). And defeating each of the 4 releases the hold on one of those pillars around Hyrule Castle containing the Calamity Ganon.

I love this shit for some reason...

Yeah, that's a similar theory to what many are thinking. I imagine the moment Link fell in battle, the Sheikah's forces and riders were called upon. There's still inconsistencies in that, but I like the concept a lot!

I know leakers are looking very suspect now, but Remember long ago when we heard rumors of a female link, voice acting, and zelda nx?

Judging by Aonuma's comments about Zelda's clothes and sheikah slate, is it time to say that Zelda is playable?

I haven't played a Zelda game since twilight princess, do people recommend me playing those games before this? This actually makes me want to buy something Nintendo again. Though maybe not at launch. I haven't enjoyed regular games for a long time but I haven't played Nintendo for a long time, maybe i should try some of the Wii U classics.

I have a feeling she will be, in some shape or form. Maybe a companion like Joel/ Ellie. That would be awesome.

In the Official Timeline there was a Civil War/Unification War before OoT that caused OoT Link's mom to die. The events in that war are super vague, but after the war the Gerudo "once again" swore allegiance to the King of Hyrule. This suggests that they were allies before that war. Ganondorf of course was insincere about his allegiance and ends up betraying Hyrule. This causes the events of Ocarina of Time.

It seems the Gerudo are okay allies but Twinrova and Ganondorf really seem to sour things consistently. At the end of OoT (Adult Timeline) the Gerudo are happily dancing and celebrating Ganondorf's defeat. There's a chance they were very oppressed by G-dorf as well. The carpenters mention mass brainwashing and the Iron Knuckles are clearly mind controlled Gerudos. They weren't evil just heavily manipulated. Quotes from the carpenters:

"The leader of the gang of thieves
is Nabooru. She is experimenting
in brainwashing many people at
the ruins in the desert.

Oh, it was Ganondorf the Evil
King who was behind the gang of
thieves...

When Nabooru was a lone wolf
thief, she never stole from
the weak, but...

Now, Nabooru's gang of thieves
stands for cruelty and brutality.
She claims to be a chivalrous
robber, but...no way!"

"Like I suspected, Nabooru was
brainwashed by Ganondorf's
followers..."

In Four Swords Adventures the Gerudo are considered noble and true and definitely trustworthy...which is different from OoT. The Red maiden says

"The Gerudo honor the desert.
They are trustworthy and
pure of heart.

I cannot imagine one of them
is the King of Darkness..."

This would suggest that when super evil Ganondorf isn't around the Gerudo aren't actually hostile. In FSA the Gerudo actually brand Ganondorf as a criminal before anyone else learns about him. It seems that late in the Child's Timeline Hyrule and the Gerudo are friends. Although early in the child's timeline a lot of fans theorize a war between the Gerudo and Hyrule before TP that led to the Gerudo being pushed out of Hyrule or even close to killed off altogether...

In the defeated timeline...I have no idea how they are. But overall I'd say they are isolationists and reluctant allies to Hyrule.

If I were to give a run-down of the Gerudo throughout the timeline it would go like this:

Between SS and Unification War: Allies/neutral
Unification War: Enemies
Ocarina of Time: Enemies (Under Twinrova's magic)
(AT) Before Wind Waker Flood: Allies
(AT) During Wind Waker: Gone?
(CT) Before Twilight Princess: Enemies (Under Twinrova's magic)
(CT) Twilight Princess: Gone/Chased out
(CT) Four Swords Adventures: Allies/neutral
(DT) Imprisoning War: This is anyones guess. They could've been turned into monsters, or they might've ran off/isolated themselves.

I expect you'll be able to enjoy BotW without refreshing yourself on earlier Zelda games, but since there's some really obvious Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker references in the game, those might be worth playing just to get the full impact in the story.

I think the part after the Goron says "Here it comes" is my favorite when it comes to music.

Nintendo needs to release the songs used in the trailers already.

The increase in narrative focus and the similarity in their colour palettes/physical profile makes me want to believe there'll be a protagonist switch at some point, even if it's only temporary and not GTA5-style. (Although that'd be fine, too!)

...heh, switch.

"Alright Link, it's time for us to..." Zelda looks directly into the camera with shit-eating grin, "switch places!"

That would be a dream. I would be incredibly happy if that happens.

I do remember reading that they got some ideas for BOTW while making WWHD, maybe the temples with Medli and Makar will be a base for a Link/Zelda team?

I think that someone just saw Zelda with those clothes and assumed she is a female version of Link. Not that she couldn't be playable but those clothes could be just story related.

I will have absolutely no expectations of being able to play as Zelda. No point in me even entertaining that.
So that way, if it does happen, it can blow my mind. ;D

Interesting about the rating. During the treehouse stream, aonuma said that horses can die in the game too. I wonder how they will make their deaths. If they do a "POOF" and become meat, like the other hunted animals.

Yeah I noticed E10.
I was thinking it would be T Honestly. Then again only TP ever got higher then E

Yeah, I'm a bit surprised too. E10 didn't exist until after Twilight Princess though.

I'm guessing that means things won't get too dark then? How can your horse blow up and still be E10? xD

Exactly..also NPCs don't look invincible either. Hmm.

Assuming it does, it'll be interesting to see exactly where this game takes place in the Fallen Hero Timeline. Maybe it's a sequel to 'Zelda II:The Adventure of Link ?'

Has there been any graveyards showing in this game? Was thinking about it some and don't recall seeing any. How about fishing poles?

Wait...there's only 4 main bosses?!?

The fact that Nintendo has been so hushed on dungeons and bosses really has me worried. Some are even speculating that the four beasts themselves are the dungeons though I still think there are four beasts that control four dungeons and in order to access the dungeons, you need to climb and enter the beast and heal them with the tablet Link has before moving onto the Dungeons.
