It would be so weird to see fishing missing. We know there are fish in the game you can redneck fish with bombs we saw at E3. Fishing has always been a popular mini game and with how many cool features BOTW has it would be odd to have fishing with a rod missing.

I spent a crazy amount of time making a BoTW Link cosplay...but now that I see this character, I kind of feel like she was made for me to cosplay as. I wish I knew what her name was and what the front of her outfit looked like. I'll just call her Nabs for now.
Just saw the adventure log menus, and the options menus. It seems there are options for:

- amiibo [USE | DON'T USE]
- invert horizontal camera [ON | OFF]
- invert vertical camera [ON | OFF]
- camera sensitivity [NORMAL (and other options not shown)]
- aim with motion controls [ON | OFF]
- change jump button [ ON | OFF ]
- fix minimap to the north [ ON | OFF]
- HUD MODE [NORMAL (and other options not shown)]
- Message Window transparency [NORMAL (and other options not shown)]

The adventure log tab shows four different tabs, one for main quests, side quests, dialogue?, and other that is spoilerish

Oh thank goodness. The jump button was very awkward to hit when I played the demo. I'd like to reconfigure all of the buttons if possible. I also wish there was an auto run...

It's said a Gerudo male is born once every 100 years.

Since it's been a century since the past, and Ganon is already in full Calamity form, we might get a Gerudo male ally in the game :o

(I hope)

Wha...

Oh man, you're right! o___o

I'd love to see a Gerudo Male that wasn't evil incarnate!

my theory based off the trailer is we have a white dress Zelda in the past, and a blue dress zelda in the future.
I'm thinking both Zeldas are in the past. The "blue shirt" Zelda is from before the Clamity appears (the Master Sword is whole and everything appears more or less whole as far as we can see), the white after, while all hell is breaking loose. We may only see her in these "flashbacks", and she may actually be playable there rather than in the present. That would be an interesting twist, if we played exclusively as Zelda in the flashbacks and Link in the present.

I also think the Slate she's carrying is the same one that will eventually be given to Link, which explains why it has pretty much unlimited access to all of the Sheikah tech that we come across... it was hers.

Hmm - the Gerudo have been in more games than I remembered it seems! Thanks guys.

I'll guess they'll be neutral or nicer. Possibly with a shadier element of Ganon loyalists.

So are each of the 4 main bosses mechanical? So far, I think we've seen the flying bird thing (Game Awards 2016 trailer) and is that thing on Death Mountain a mechanical salamander? Perhaps summoning these forces was the last result that sealed Ganon after Link was defeated in OoT (in the downfall timeline). And defeating each of the 4 releases the hold on one of those pillars around Hyrule Castle containing the Calamity Ganon.

I love this shit for some reason...

Restoring the animal guardians probably won't release the pillar seals. Aonuma said you can go to Ganon practically from the very beginning if you want, so if that's true restoring the animal guardians would more likely restore the corrupted sealing pillars around the castle, and weaken Ganon so players are able to beat him more easily.

If the animal guardians are connected to the pillars that way, it could be that their corruption is what has weakened the seal to near collapse. Maybe the animal guardians only somewhat recently all became corrupted.

No, you can see them rampaging over Castle Town in the trailer. And the ones we've seen in gameplay around the Temple of Time appear to have been stopped while they were attacking it, not defending it.

If both are in the past it could be an explanation for the old woman voice, but then why would the king/old man, which we've seen in the present, ask link to save his daughter

Does anyone think the Deku Tree is the King of Hyrule?

I really hope not. Mostly because it makes no sense and invalidates what the Great Deku Tree was in OoT/TWW.

That could be the King from a flashback too. Like maybe that's what he said to Link right before he died as Hyrule was attacked...? He seems to say "Save my people and my daughter" in some of the translations.

Nope, we first heard the rumor at E3. Main evidence is the 4 pillars outside of Hyrule Castle and the 4 Shiekan Colossi wondering the world.

Thanks! Makes sense. I kinda hope they aren't the dungeons and only guard them or act as bosses. I wonder if you can "control" them once you get to that brain area.

Sorry, I don't mean the robot guardians. Those definitely were corrupted right away. I mean the giant mechanical animal things.

I LOVE the gerudos, so glad to see them again.

Yeah, I'm really happy they're alive. I was so bummed in TP when I got to Gerudo Desert and found absolutely nothing.

Speaking of different races, we've basically seen everyone, but we haven't really seen much about the Sheikah. The Sheikah are so odd because by Ocarina of Time (Which is the game that introduced them) the Sheikah are suppose to be extinct.

Ocarina of Time quotes:

"R.I.P.
Here lie the souls of those who
swore fealty to the
Royal Family of Hyrule
The Sheikah, guardians of the
Royal Family and founders of
Kakariko, watch over these spirits
in their eternal slumber"

"They say that Princess Zelda's
nanny is actually one of the
Sheikah, who many thought had
died out."

"Have you heard the legend of the
"Shadow Folk"?
They are the Sheikah...the shadows
of the Hylians.
They say they swore allegiance to
the King of Hyrule and guarded
the Royal Family.
But with the long peace, no one
has seen a Sheikah around here
for a long time.
However..."

Twilight Princess:

"I REMEMBER!

That belonged to the tribe that
protected the Hylian royal family
long ago.

They worked in secret, so they
lived in a lonely, forgotten place.
But I heard that tribe dwindled in
the prolonged wars..."

The Sheikah protect Hylia and then the Royal Family until they basically died off altogether. Maybe they didn't actually die out and are instead hiding on those shrines? If that's the case all of the Sheikah could very well be shriveled old dudes by now. :\

Not sure how I feel about that. The Sheikah might be my favorite race in the franchise. (Even though the only Sheikah we've ever really met was Impa...)

Does anyone think the Deku Tree is the King of Hyrule?

No. That doesn't make any sense or follow the standard portrayal of these characters. The Deku Tree is the Deku Tree. The king is some old man.

Unrelated, its interesting to see with this latest story trailer that other classic Zelda tropes are returning in the form of what seem to be 4 sages or something like that. I'm super curious to see what other traditions are carried forward and what are completely reinvented or abandoned.

There's an enemy in the trailer with an upside-down Mask of Truth, maybe a Shiekah defector who became Ganon's minion, or a brainwashed Shiekah. They have very distinctive Japanese ninja attire, it's possible there are a few interactive Shiekah left.

My guess is that they pilot the four colossal mechs, and are possibly brainwashed and need to be saved. So cool.

after watching the trailer I get the impression that the game progression will be nowhere as free as people thought, and that the whole 'if you want you can go to fight Ganon after ten minutes' it's bullshit.

Oh, I'm sure you can fight Ganon whenever you like... whether you'll win is another story entirely.

well that comes without saying, otherwise the game would have some big problems..

but i think you'll not even be able to fight him.. those 4 columns inside the castle together with the 4 mecha bosses sounds to me like 'barrier'

I don't know about anybody else, but 4 dungeons in a Zelda game seems ridiculous - that was one of my main problems with Majora's Mask; there wasn't enough dungeon crawling. Twilight Princess almost got it right, but it had less dungeons than Ocarina of Time and that's the paradigm of the perfect Zelda game [content-wise]. Why can't they just make like 15 dungeons and say "Yay, we finally did it - we topped Ocarina of Time!"?

Ive asked in a few other threads but havent gotten any replies or answers. So does the Switch version of Zelda support HD Rumble or not? Havent heard any rumble mentioned from Zelda impressions. And have only heard that 1 2 Switch and possible ARMS support HD Rumble. I am assuming its not supported for Zelda, at least at this time?

There are still 100+ Shrines of varying depth and complexity, and the overworld itself is full of puzzles and challenges. They've stated before that the journey is also part of the puzzle-solving now.

Measuring quality by number of dungeons is... weird.

don't remember who or where, but someone said that zelda supports it... i Remember an example about climbing a ladder and feeling it on the joy cons.

no idea if true though

If that were true I don't think they would have doubled down on it the other day

Is there any confirmation of botw using motion controls like skyward sword.. Like for swordplay and all the weapons and gadgets? Would really love IR aiming for first person. I know that gyro is confirmed, but I'm curious if it will be like TP and windwaker HD, where the motion controls were half assed compared to skyward sword.

I have to say I'm pretty glad there's no TP-style release date fuckery this time. The simultaneous worldwide release of the two versions is ideal for me.

Different Zelda's have different priorities. Breath of the Wild kind of implies a very heavy overworld focus which also matches the marketing focusing more on exploration and the different world regions. There is also over 100 shrines which act as mini dungeons so there will be plenty of puzzle solving in the game.

It will not be like SS, thankfully. Pretty sure you'll be able to use gyro for aiming. IR is out of the question as the IR camera on the Switch is not positioned or like the one on the Wii. It's not meant for aiming on screen via IR LEDs to track reticle positioning, just detecting objects and movement.

I am buying a Switch at launch solely for this game, that trailer was so good !

Next game I wouldn't want to miss is Super Mario Odyssey.

I'm pretty hyped for this. Pre-ordered the LE. Was wondering though if we have official dimensions for the box art. Considering making custom ones. I mean the official one is great but can always do better.

I think a lot of these story beats will be told via the "memories" sub feature, given to us in unlockable chunks, and not driven by any linear story progression.

I think in a sense they re-negged on that. The treehouse presentation with Aonouma, he said specifically, "you can go to hyrule castle as soon as you start the game." Not fight Ganon.

Considering the way that you can go off the plateau in any direction. I think that the story progression for each race, reaching each guardian will be completely optional. As you start these, it will probably follow a more structured quest

So it looks like the Gerudo have these weird sand Walruses. You can see Link sand surfing with the aid of one in the desert footage running from some kind of serpent and towards the end there are two of the same creatures flanking him and the Gerudo girl. They also appear to have saddles on them. Pretty cool.

The 100+ shrines thing - some of them are unbelievably brief. The one that Gamespot showed us can be completed in less than 3 minutes and there's no boss. A dungeon/shrine with a unique boss at the end of it and some degree of complexity would count to me as a "dungeon", so if that's in the game and there's a ton of them, I'm a happy camper. However, if the game really only has 4 dungeons with puzzles to complete and a cool boss at the end - that would be extremely lacking based on what I expect from a Zelda title. That and the fact that the overworld is most likely going to be mostly devoid of content, like pretty much every other open world game.

I would love to be proven wrong, however - this is a Zelda game, after all ;)

What was up with the jump button? I recall complaints about it at E3 and I can't remember why.

Also is it just me or the does the Great Deku tree look like he has arms? Like folded under his mouth, kind of obscured by the giant root in front of him. Great Deku Sprout kind of had faux arms.
