I don't know about anybody else, but 4 dungeons in a Zelda game seems ridiculous - that was one of my main problems with Majora's Mask; there wasn't enough dungeon crawling. Twilight Princess almost got it right, but it had less dungeons than Ocarina of Time and that's the paradigm of the perfect Zelda game [content-wise]. Why can't they just make like 15 dungeons and say "Yay, we finally did it - we topped Ocarina of Time!"?

And shrines don't count as dungeon crawling? We've seen super complex ones from just E3 that are the size of multiple dungeon rooms/sections and there are TONS of those

I don't think this is going to be a game that leaves us starved for classic Zelda gameplay. Whether its 4 main dungeons or not, there are an abundance of puzzles and dungeon-like gameplay in the shrines.

I hate knowing about dungeons. That's the one thing I hate spoiling.

If there are 4 main dungeons that doesn't mean that's it. How does Link get the Master Sword? usually 3 starter dungeons. So 7 dungeons guys. >___>

How does Link get his memories back? Crazy outdoor dungeons like we saw at the VGAs.

Have there been any videos of someone trying to back to the plateau after jumping and gliding off it?

It always looks so high up, and needing the glider to get off it might mean that you can't get back there until you've at least upgraded your stamina a bit. Or maybe gotten some food that boosts it enough. Or was it that you can immediately warp to those towers?

I feel like at least as long as the old man stays there, something significant will happen that brings you back to the plateau. Revelations of who the old man really is (the King) and something involving him most likely. It would make for a change from previous games where once you left the opening area you basically never have a reason to go back.

Also is it just me or the does the Great Deku tree look like he has arms? Like folded under his mouth, kind of obscured by the giant root in front of him. Great Deku Sprout kind of had faux arms.

yeah i'm thinking this could be a far-future sequel to tww. it wouldn't be surprising if messing around with tww inspired them to work in that direction.

Because the game is supposed to be a departure from the OoT template? That's the whole point. The main draw of the game is the overworld and nonlinear exploration, just like Majora's was sidequests and the 3 days mechanic. Personally l welcome the change.

Technically could be Downfall as well since that is a continuation of Link failing in the Adult Timeline, which means the Deku Sprout likely existed there too. Post WW makes no sense given how that ended and the events that followed with PH and ST.

Either it's Downfall directly post OoT, which I'd rather it not. Or since Castle Town is straight up ripped directly from TP it's post that, where the Deku tree could be as well since it only never sprouted due to the curse on the forest temple which never would have happened in the Child timeline since Ganondorf never rose to power. I still hope it somehow is post AoL though, but not so sure anymore with all these TP connections. Could be some crazy convergence still though.

But are there unique bosses and items at the end of those super-complex ones?

Aside from how they produce their systems as of late, Nintendo's not stupid and The Legend of Zelda has far surpassed the Mario series in terms of popularity - even though Mario is still a staple. The Legend of Zelda series is always the most anticipated Nintendo title released during thier console lifecycle and they know what we want - so let's hope that there's a ton of content hidden under the veil, so to speak.

But are there unique bosses and items at the end of those super-complex ones?

Since there are 100 of them, and since we've seen multiple Guardian types, there might be huge Guardian bosses and more runes in the late-game ones.

Honestly, the structure of this game is unpredictable, so there might be random 'dungeons' in certain areas that aren't really part of the story.

Maybe its just me, But Anouma really seems to love the Wind Waker world. I don't blame him, since it had a ton of cool ideas in terms of stories and characters.

Or maybe my love for Wind Waker is just blindly me

What.

.

I would be shocked if there wasn't boss types or important items at the end of some of the shrines. The sheer volume of shrines would indicate the need for a wide variety of encounters and rewards inside.

I mean I love me some Zelda, but this just wrong on a massive scale. Galaxy outsold TP by like 4 million copies and Galaxy 2 outsold SS by like 3 million. Super Mario 64 on DS outsold PH by 2:1 and ST by like 4:1 not to mention New Super Mario Bros outsold them 6:1 and 12:1. On 3DS it's just as big NSMB2 outsold ALBW 2:1 and so did Super Mario Land 3D.

Shit isn't even a contest. Mario supports like over half a dozen or more series. Zelda consistently sells several million, even with remakes, but they have and never will do Mario numbers. BotW might break 10 million, a first for the series not counting remakes, which was only achieved by OoT and possibly TP depending on the Wii U sales.

I mean, maybe you have a point with Zelda being the "most anticipated", since the games that come out for Zelda are always this big scale thing compared to most Mario games, so I guess you could say it tends to be the Nintendo game people look forward to the most. But it'll never become more popular than Mario.

I think you're confusing 'most popular' with 'fan favourite'. Sure, Zelda is probably the one series big Nintendo fans look forward to the most, but Mario is much more popular with people in general, with much higher sales.

Yep, zelda is not near Nintendos biggest franchise, it is popular but not massive at all.

I know leakers are looking very suspect now, but Remember long ago when we heard rumors of a female link, voice acting, and zelda nx?

Judging by Aonuma's comments about Zelda's clothes and sheikah slate, is it time to say that Zelda is playable?

Yeah, feels like you can choose who you want to play as from the beginning or atleast NG+ mode. Maybe the story reverses the roles then? Theres lots of hints.

Crazy theory time!

My personal theory is that neither of these are Link or Zelda. The real Link died 100 years and these two run away from the attack on Castle Town and eventually run into the Master Sword (possibly from Link's dead body?) you can choose either of these to pick up and theres your character. But since your not Link the Master Sword rejects you and starts to break down. Eventually it goes to deku tree and he helps infuse you with the power to handle the Master Sword by putting you in the resurrection chamber. Whoever you don't choose goes into a seperate chamber to be infused with wisdom.

So many hints from Anouma stating "noone said that was Link" at E3 2014, to even now pointing out their similarities on the Treehouse stream. Of course, this would mean that girl Link/playable Zelda would only be in this game due to story but this is my dream game. If any Zelda game deserves a playable girl from the start its this and I will keep making up crazy theories to make it happen damnit.

Of course if thats not the case, it'll still likely be one of the best games of all time but its my dream game and theres only one thing left for making it perfect and "Zelda" looks exactly how a girl version of Link in this game would look.

Well Zelda has a "Zelda Cycle" while Mario doesn't.

I guess thats the only thing it beats Mario at. A crazy, devoted fan base.

Damn I hope Mario is released in 2017. Zelda and Mario on the first year on Switch

I don't think Mario will be delayed. Seems thats their holiday game along with Hopefully Pokemon Stars

The Zelda fanbase is the more passionate, crazed group...but we don't compare to the mass appeal Mario has. Skyward Sword specifically underperformed by quite a bit.

Zelda is almost always in the 3-6 million units area and every title takes 4-5 years to make. Mario on the flip side takes 1-3 years to make and rakes in loads more cash every time.

Aonuma even had a spiel about how working on Zelda wasn't fair since it takes so long to make compared to Mario. lol.

Watching Zeltik's trailer analysis he made an interesting point of needing to follow a certain path through the lost woods in order to find the Great Deku Tree/Master Sword and using the Koroks as our guide to do so, it's an interesting observation. And one I'm curious how they would handle that in an open world game. I guess they could just warp you to the starting area if you deviate too much from the set path despite not having loading zones like past games.

BUT the big thing I thought of was the fact that he pointed out that the Koroks we see are ones we've seen before. IE ones we've seen discovered in past demos hidden around the world for us to find. If that's the case what if finding the Great Deku Tree and the Master Sword is something dependent on us first discovering a certain number of Koroks in order to help lead us on the right path. Or requiring a certain number of Korok Seeds to access the woods. And not simply something we can head straight for despite this being a completely open world.

It makes a sort of sense to me as it would feel weird to just be able to run up to the Great Deku Tree and Master Sword right after leaving the Great Plateau. But then again they did say we could head straight for Hyrule Castle. Though I've been skeptical of how that statement has been interpreted from the start. And the fact that finding hidden Koroks to unlock the Master Sword could be a bit too obscure for many players. But I would personally love it if finding and acquiring the Master Sword was an optional and more uncommon task.

So I just went back to check out the Treehouse Live cause I remember Miyamoto reiterating that straight to Hyrule Castle statement in some way, which is all the say, and I noticed on the title screen the game says Ver. 1.0.0 which is different from the showfloor demo which had a different title screen and the version said Ver. 12S. So it seems like BotW is done going by that, wonder if people can do a framerate analysis of the treehouse stream or if it is too unreliable. Then again it's not uncommon for final retail games to be like 1.0.1 or something like that.

Also noticed on the loading screen it shows collectibles of which there are three. Korok Seeds, Spirit Orbs and something in between which I'm not sure what to make of, possibly Shrines completed. Wonder if that is it or if it expands as your discover more things. I'm sure there will be a bug collecting thing again, maybe something to do with all the other wild life in the world. But I guess maybe not any other official collectibles ala Korok Seeds, Skulltula and such.

Okay good. Was worried there for a sec.

Honestly I hope there is only 4 dungeons. 5 max. We have 100 shrines to potentially go through with most being optional. I'd say that is a good compromise between those who love dungeons and those who appreciate the adventuring/exploring more.

What are the odds of dual audio?

I should probably let that go now.

There's a thread on it about a Rep saying it will have it. It's not that unrealistic as a bunch of recent Nintendo games have had dual Eng/JP audio. Plus with online DLC and the system being region free we might be able to download any language pack.

There's a good chance that rumors is true. The source of the rumor has nailed everything else they claimed. These were their claims

- The theme is technology vs. fantasy
- 4 large dungeons
- Over 100 mini-dungeons
- Various weather paterns

Yeah with the recent reveal of the Hyrule map it also pictures 4 giant beasts in each corner of the map suggesting they are perhaps related to the dungeons.

I have a suspicion that the 4 giant beasts are related to the 4 main dungeons and the 4 main pillars containing Calamity Ganon. I also find it interesting that they depict a person standing on top of each giant beast which suggests they are controlling them. You may also need to find the 4 masters of the Giant Beasts, I'd they do exist. I could see the Zora, Gerudo, Goron and Rito we saw could be them.

There's a lot of theory's going around that this Link is actually Hero of Time Link from the "Defeated" timeline.

Haven't really looked into it myself but that sounds really out there lol

People have been speculating that since the E3 demo. There are a lot of similarities to the structure in the Great Plateau to that of OoT's Castle town. It would also fill in that unexplained gap. It isn't as out there as you may think. People think it will be the defeated timeline's parallel to TP and WW which both took place 100 years after OOT. It was also aiming for Zeldas 30th anniversary and this game seems to contain a lot of elements from all major 3d zeldas in addition to ALttP's artwork and following Zelda's original gameplay template.

Maybe it's four dungeons in the present and four in the past. I wouldn't get my hopes up on it though.

I think the idea of 4 mega dungeons and 100 mini dungeons (shrines) is pretty cool.

On the Treehouse stream while showing off the stables area, Nate said that humans congregate around the stables and you can learn from them then he says actually people of all races congregate around stables so that makes me wonder if we'll see Zora and Goron and Gerudo travelers as well. That would be cool. make the world feel more connected.

Oh man

I love when people declare shit like this when it is so clearly wrong

At least hedge it a little! Don't say something that can be proven wrong with easily available numbers!

This might be the next Zelda game that sells 8m+ copies only OoT (this one is even over 10m with 3ds version combined) and TP managed that. 10m would be cool but 7-8m is a more realistic prediction for now.
