We in deep now.

I hope this game has a way to make it more difficult be that through a Hero mode readily available at start up or a amiibo like Ganon's for Twilight Princess HD. Pausing the screen to regain health seems a bit too forgiving.

I think making the menu run in real time is probably the only change I'd make but they seem to have compensated for by having most enemies 1 to 3 hit kill link, which is kinda eh because it reminds me of Dragon's Dogma and I didn't like it there.

Yawn.

And no one said the game had zero framerate issues. It's definitely not locked at 30fps 100% of the time. However, Gamekult also said the Wii U demo had zero framerate problems, so if you actually consider their analysis reliable...well, that's a bit odd.
You're so condescending I'm out after this lol. There's a gaffer a few posts above saying they had to stop playing at some point, but go on acting like this sort of thing needs some in depth analysis.

To be fair, they also stated that the game blew their mind on handled mode thanks to the great DPI of the screen, quality of contrast, lightness (with steady framerate)
I know they did.

I know this is a bit off topic but I preordered a bunch of the Breath of the wild amiibo from amazon and didn't receive the 20% discount for being a prime member. Now maybe I'm remembering wrong but I thought amiibo qualified for the discount before. Any other prime member that can enlighten me?

When presented with actual evidence refuting what Gamekult said, you resorted to this. Yeah, it's probably best that you're "out after this lol"

And again, no one is saying the game doesn't have any performance issues and I'm sure some people will take issue with it not being locked at 30fps. Christ. It's like you aren't paying attention to what I'm actually saying.

Edit - I do have to make a correction though. I'm not sure Gamekult compared this to Wii U footage and that's on me. It was the German site posted earlier that made that comparison.

I don't think they are the dungeons themselves, but more like the final part of them. My prediction is that the dungeons are near them, and they are like bosses that are visible from the start. The crater of the mountain, with as you said the fire breathing Lizafo would be the fire Dungeon, and inside you get a key or something that gives you access to the giant beast. Same for the camel, and the desert dungeon would be this.

Maybe we're just arguing semantics here and the game will blur the line of what is or isn't a dungeon. My point is, I doubt we'll be able to fight or deactivate these creatures right away, and the whole process should be quite long and feel like a proper dungeon.

I really hope what you're saying is correct. It could be that they're just the actual bosses and you scale them after traversing the dungeon itself. That would be great, my only concern then would be if there is an actual boss you fight inside of them (like a pilot) or before you get to them.

As far as framerate issues are concerned, it really looks like the only super viable way of playing this is on the Switch. DF said that they had minimal drops while capturing on Switch compared to multiple drops of even below 20fps on the WiiU. I can't really do a lot of drops like that, so I may have shell out $400 to play this game the right way. I hope they address this more before release so I don't jump into this Day1 and regret it later.

March is gonna be awesome i have a appointment for my last Zelda related tattoo in the end of march and early march Breath of the Wild and Nintendo Switch releases.

I missed out on that master sword edition but ohwell that wolf link head portrait tattoo will certainly make up for it:)

i rewatch the BotW trailer like 10 times a day xd. Last time i did that was with those MGS V trailers but oh boy what that could have been.... Breath of the Wild looks truly finished tho.

Prime here, amiibo do not count.

That means nothing, look at the franchise sales, those are facts.

A national survey in 1990 declared than Mario was more recognizable to american children than Mickey Mouse (google it, you´ll find plenty of sites referencing this). I don´t know how it´s nowadays, that´s why I said "at some point", but it´s something to help get the idea of Mario´s popularity. Between Super Mario Run and the Tokyo Olympics presentation video he´s been having massive mainstream presence as well in 2016. I hope BotW gets huge sales, but history up until now shows that Mario´s worst selling games are magnitudes above Zelda´s best performances. Which means nothing regarding the quality of both titles, as I don´t put Zelda an inch below Mario in that regard. In fact I´m more excited for the new Zelda than for the new Mario as well...so let´s hope both games do great!

I'm talking about excitement and hype for Zelda - a Zelda reveal gets people far more excited than a Mario reveal.

It is strange that even though people get more excited for Zelda, it doesn't sell as well as Mario. Interesting.

I mean, you're the one that began with saying that Zelda was more popular than Mario though.

Fans are loud and excitable, but they're a minority in the grand scheme of things

You don't pull a sword that way. You do place one that way though.

Seems pretty clear that Zelda in a dress with a pristine castle is sometime in the past, Zelda in pants and ruins everywhere is the present. Not sure if we'll go back or just see flashbacks.

Holy shit Zeltik and his Discord have done it. They translated the text on the map with the four animals.

It's a doozie.

Well that certainly makes me think it is definitely not the fallen timeline. At least in the sense of it being when the Hero of Time was defeated by Ganon. The whole Sheikah aspect of it all throws that off. I'm thinking maybe this is sometime after Skyward Sword?

EDIT: Just be clear, I say this because I believe Impa was the last of the Sheikah by the time of OoT. In the land that comes to be Hyrule after the events of Skyward Sword, the Sheikah could have been prominently present as a tribe that makes themselves known to the newfound Hylians and becomes their allies and "protectors".

Really incredible trailer man...

Doubt I'll be there day one with my PS4 backlog, but I think this is gonna be some GOTY stuff right here.

Looks like you're playing an epic.

It could still be OoT Link. We never would've seen the Sheikah deploying the four divine beasts and the mechanical army since when we played OoT we succeeded in defeating Ganon. But if this is set in the third timeline where he fails, then all of that would follow from him failing.

I must remain strong...

I was weak.

Makes sense. Explains why Sheikah are though to be extinct in OOT.

I keep thinking it's after Skyward Sword too, Zelda seems to Hylia, bathing at the Goddess statues etc. Saying that, I'm not watching the video so I have no idea what the names are suggesting lol.

That or she's trying to stop him, the back of the box does show Zelda trying to pull the master sword though

Or maybe that's a flashback to the part that happened 100 years ago, could be a different Zelda.

Link catching fish with his hands?

Link catching fish with his hands?

Mhmm.

We've been concerned there's no rod fishing in BOTW, which would be a total bummer.

Did some quick research and seems that Impa is NOT the last Sheikah in OoT, according to her own words....

"The boy with the noble Zelda's Ocarina... As I expected, you have come. I am Impa, one of the Sheikah. I am Princess Zelda's caretaker, and I am also the Sage who guards the Shadow Temple. We Sheikah have served the royalty of Hyrule from generation to generation as attendants."

So I guess it could still follow Links defeat by Ganon in OoT? I feel such a ping pong ball being knocked back and forth as to where this game is taking place lol

The translation made by Zeltik is not new for those who are speculating the backstory in this thread. Nothing new, just confirming what everybody already knew.

Very interesting. Still sounds like it would have to be either the Imprisoning War since we have the ruined ToT as a main piece of evidence. From the sounds of it, however, we are getting a heavy retcon of OoT's story--at least the version of it that leads into the DT.

What you brought up about Mario is in fact a good point, because I identified with Mario before I knew what Zelda even was...

...but, more recognizable than Mickey Mouse??

Mickey Mouse was already an identifiable figure far before Nintendo was even a household name - but that's besides the point - I'll concede that maybe in the late 80's Mario and Mickey Mouse were synonymous because of their popularity - especially on Nintendo's end.

This day and age, a new "Legend of Zelda" release has far more of an impact than a new Mario reveal - but I'll be happy to eat crow this holiday season if the new Mario blows away this new Zelda :)

I mean....look, has any single Zelda release ever sold even 10 million copies? No.

We have Mario games selling 25m and up fairly recently.
