I never said they couldn't people can do whatever the fuck the want, I was questioning why.
I know that. My post answers why.

I never said they couldn't people can do whatever the fuck the want, I was questioning why. I was just recently at my local Democratic party meeting and there was a group gung-ho about protesting, making it this whole event, me and my friend just stared at each other with raised eyebrows. To us the protesting of the inauguration seems a pointless endeavor. He's been elected, you can't change that via a protest, you change that by voting. You can't even say you're protesting anything specific since you're just protesting Trump in general, which again is what elections are for.
Now, I'm sure there will be plenty of legitimate things to protest about Trump once he takes office and starts enacting polices. But, to me a general Trump protest doesn't do anything besides perhaps making the people protesting feel better. If that's what they need fine, but I'm not going to be convinced it's some powerful statement.
A puppet that got elected.
Yeah and what a damn shame that is.
Even if you think he shouldn't have been stopped from being inaugurated, protesting his inauguration isn't just saying "hey this guy is illegitimate remove him!" it's also saying "hey this guy is a complete fucking psychopath, don't normalize him or his administration and don't treat him with kids' gloves. Make him uncomfortable and challenge his views and policies at every chance you're given"
I kinda wonder if that's why they have these things in the winter, too cold out to cause a ruckus
He's the President of the United States. We are well past the point of normalization. No matter what happens he gets a portrait, he gets a fucking Library, he gets put down in the history books, etc. I agree he must be challenged at every corner but that's why we have elections and all that time in-between. At the moment, he's just being sworn in a month after winning the election. He's allowed to have his one day. I won't be watching or attending, but he can have his shitty day.
After that, EVERYTHING is fair game.
I agree he must be challenged at every corner
Option 1) people sit back and let him have a shitty day where he celebrates himself
Option 2) people kick and scream from day 1 and try to ruin his shitty day
which option is preferable to you?

The person who gets a hissy-fit about every little slight directed at him? He will be the biggest crybaby when he sees that there are more protesters present than his followers. You can't ruin his shitty day, he's already won and he's a sociopath. He would likely take a perverse pleasure in the "cry babies" kicking and screaming as he steps inside their hallowed White House and proceeds to hang his portrait up while relaxing in his faux-gold chair right behind the Resolute Desk. He'll sit there idly content with the knowledge that no matter what, he won. And, nothing they can do can take that away from him at the moment.
This is ultimately what all of us should be doing. No matter where we are in the world. Not watching innaugrarion, going to the Woman's March on Saturday

He's not my president and never will be.
Yup.Sorry. You don't automatically get respect by becoming President. You earn that, and Trump has shown none. So no, not respecting anything.
Wow, I had no idea there were protests against Bush's first inauguration.
What's funny is back then, I wouldn't understand the outrage because Bush didn't do anything evil yet.
Whereas now, Donald Trump is already starting day one as a Russian operative who serves Putin's interests.
There better be lots of angry chanting when his motorcade starts moving through the streets.
He's not my president and never will be.

Many a chad was left hanging.Something something Al Gore won, something Florida
It must be so nice to be the middle man. Don't have to pick a side, don't have to put yourself behind anything emotionally and can act smug as if you're morally superior to everyone else.
Hey, that's not fair.Middle man of GAF has spoken. Obama and Trump are the same.
Middle man can see both sides. Listen to his wisdom.

Yes he is.
You don't get to close your eyes, cover your ears and go "lalalalalala". He's your president, deal with that how you will.
I guarantee you, he will pop outside the white house and get into a pissing match with them.
Fat Wreck said:Proceeds from the sale of these shirts over the next four years will be donated to organizations working to combat whatever bullshit policies this scumbag attempts to perpetrate on our country and the world.
I would love for this to happen so so much
But I don't think the SS will let him do that
Then he'll get into a pissing match with them too.
I mean, if they are like me, they would actually have the right the renounce their U.S. citizenship and therefore that cheetos sprayed nazi isn't their president. I'm actually considering returning to my home country and renouncing my citizenship, but that's a big decision to make and I need time to think about it. It all depends if the Democrats can win 2018 or not.
Apparently there's going to be a protest in my city which is...
Leeds... in Yorkshire... in the UK
Why not, ay? Should be a laugh.
Trump means fart around here, so i hope there's pleanty of appropriately punny protest signage.
This. If Obama had to sit through years of his citizenship being called into question (Trump himself being one of the main instigators) and his family being called every racist name in the book, Trump can handle some people booing at his inauguration.
Anybody who wants to concern troll about "respect" can miss me.

A fascist being inaugurated? It's a show of detest, nobody thinks they're gonna show up and scream "I OBJECT" and ride off into the sunset with Bernie as president while the shrek soundtrack playsI'm probably still going to watch the inauguration live. History is being made, for better or worse :/
Why even protest at this point? What are you protesting?
Respect these nuts gThis.
He has been democratically elected, Americans have to respect that and try to win back in four years if they're not happy with him.
I wonder what the reaction would have been, had Ms. Clinton won the election and republicans decided to protest.
This.
