Are people actually justifying this ridiculous situation?
Am I still right in thinking Nintendo have not confirmed that all these features will be available directly on the Switch itself... and that they're basically leaving us with a strong suggestion that it will only be available via a smartphone app, however the hell that would work?!
If that really is the case then it's beyond ridiculous. Saying it might have been the only way to bring these features.. Nintendo have designed a modern console to be released in 2017, if that was true then maybe they should have had a wee think about that and designed the console to support these functions!!! I mean...!!! C'mon.
If this app is a supplementary thing AND the Switch can do all the same stuff natively, I have no bones about this app at al, it's a great idea to have another way to interact with friends, plan gaming sessions etc. But not as the only way to do it when you have a touchscreen tablet right there in your hands where you could do it all without having to look at another device. It's simply messy and makes little sense. User unfriendly to hell and back.
EDIT: In terms of user un-friendliness imagine if every time you wanted to input text on the PS4, you had to consult a separate hardware keyboard (sold separately). No onscreen software keyboard available, that's your only option. That's the sort of ridiculousness of this solution.
