Horizon Zero Dawn | Cinematic Trailer

No, if that was the case her then the every detail in the picture would completely distorted. The fine creases are still there in the clothing, etc. yet the textures clearly are lacking.

Like one of the posters above said, it looks like texture streaming has been turned off.
Right, so you have no idea how compression works within video codecs.

Gotcha.

You know I've been meaning to ask, can a post post-apocalyptic situation change how a human looks and talks?

How would someone talk and act when they have grown up without school and education, and the same happened to their children, a and their children and so on? Changes would be massive.

Worst thing that can happen is loss of ability to write and read. Over few generations, all advances of our civilization would be gone from use. Looking by what was shown so far, in Horizon's world that' set 1000 years after the apocalypse, that is exactly what has happened. Humanity was push back by some calamity into the stone age, old civilization became relevant only for resource mining.

As for looks, no. ~30 generations is too short for that. All of the visual changes will be "cultural".

Horizon Zero Dawn E3 2016 vs 2017 Taipei Game Show Gameplay Early Graphics Comparison

Has this been posted yet? Looks like the texture got a pretty noticeable downgrade.

What's next, are you going to compare Gamersyde vid with NicoNico stream? :D

This entire downgrade situation is laughable IMO, and will most likely led to the closing of this thread. :-/

Aloy's enemy before the game is even released is a menacing beast called Downgradeathon.

The game looks really good, we'll see previews next week so I think we can reserve judgement until then.

The game is gorgeous and has those vivid colors but it's not a generation leap in graphics to the degree people are worried about it lol. Those graphics are achievable on PS4 Pro, hell even U4 looked fantastic on regular PS4

It's one of the best looking open world games I've ever seen too though.
I can't think of anything in the genre that looks better except The Witcher 3 on PC at max settings.

It's really impressive stuff from GG even with all their known wizardry.

Edit: And also Star Citizen though that games budget is insane.

I think, if you look in the background, the vegetation has noticeably decreased in one of the scenes.

At the same time, even if it's downgraded, this looks set to be one of the best, if not best looking open world game out there.

It will eventually be outclassed by RDR (if only for the level of detail that Rockstar puts in their games), but at the moment, it looks to me like the game Witcher 3 failed to be (graphically).

Yea sure and I can't wait to get it. Never thought I would like to play an RPG game but I'm already 85 hours in FFXV, so definitely im interested in this genre more than ever :)

The game is looking too good to be true and that's why it's easily to jump to downgrade conspiracies

There is no downgrade it''s the same build with different video quality:

E3 2015 gameplay from gamersyde: http://i.imgur.com/56dkLv0.png
E3 2016 gameplay from gamersyde: http://i.imgur.com/3mSmu6W.png
TGS 2016 stream footage: http://i.imgur.com/00gWgNM.png
EGX 2016 stream footage: http://i.imgur.com/luKDuro.png
Game Informer from youtube: http://i.imgur.com/gGIrGgM.png

Now notice the interface for E3 2016, TGS 2016 and EGX 2016 is the same right? Now look at the game informer footage, the UI was slightly updated. What I'm saying is that the E3 2016, TGS, EGX and Tapei are the exact same BUILD. So how could it be a downgrade if it's the same thing?!

Also, compression doesn't remove detail at all... right?! What a joke, just compare the E3 2016 pic and the EGX one, it's night and day even though they're showing of different things.

I'm very disapointed by the facial animations. Honestly, look a game like COD IW or Quantum Break, Horizon is so far of these rendering.

Concerning the open-world, yeah, it's look good. If we compare with The WItcher, or the trailer of RDR2, Horizon can be considered as a top-notch open world. But I have some reservations about the scenario. It seems to be a pretty common history, I have the feeling to have saw that type of history a thousands of times...

Video compression doesn't do THAT much.

Please remind us all of the games set 1000 years after an apocalypse where robo-fauna are the dominant species on Earth.

Yeah I figure speech would drastically change due to an improper learning structure for a serious amount of time.
Based on the discussion I had on the previous page, 30 generations wouldn't cause a change in looks and growth unless accelerated by inbreeding due to a catastrophic event i.e mass extinction

So was the one you posted. How can you post a video that compares E3 demo footage so a heavily blurry stream video?
Is it always like this? People trying to stir shit based on shaky evidences?

Just quoting this just to make sure people don't jump to conclusions.

Honestly, i thought that was your TV showing youtube footage with a laptop next it showing the same footage but on a smaller screen to represent compression.

That said, the details in textures can be seen quite clearly in that picture. The wood grains on the floor especially.

So doesn't that single off-screen shot disprove your downgrade point? You can see the texture quality of the wood in a photo taken of a TV at a media event, yet you're still arguing about textures being downgraded?

You guys keep saying there was a downgrade. Have you stopped to think we are seeing the first comparison between PS4 and PS4 Pro?

While the newest footage is indeed very crappy and compressed to hell and back, there is imo still a considerable downgrade noticable. Not just blurry textures but also scaled back vegetation, lighting and LOD.
Damn, I actually thought that would not happen with this title, not so very late. :(

Literally, can't see any difference aside from bad compression...People must be taking the piss surely?

If the downgrade is so hard to notice that we have to argue over whether it exists or not... Does the downgrade even frickin' matter? God, such an annoying buzzword.

Really, a possible downgrade is probably the only thing that never worried me about this game. Ever since the reveal, or even before, when we saw the leaked artwork, I knew the game could end up having mediocre writing, middling gameplay, a bland soundtrack... but if there is one thing Guerrilla gets right, it's the graphics department.

Hmm strange you present your pe conceived notions as fact. The impressions we have so far from many media outlets at E3 and PSX is that the gameplay is ace and controls are very tight for an open world game.

Also for the soundtrack I like the stuff I've heard so far. The tribal vibes it echoes fit pretty well and the main theme is really cool. But I get that in particular is subjective.

Writing is a toss up, we have to wait until release to judge that. They've hired outside help from the likes of CD Projekt so that's encouraging.
Fair enough if you choose to be very pessimistic though.

I bet a 7.5/10 from polygon.

And JosefStaling give <=7.5 like TLG and GR2

Has there been any information if the open world is like Far Cry (one big map) or something like The Witcher where it's broken up into different maps?
