The concept seems similar to an indie movie I really enjoyed last year, Dough. If you like the premise, you may like that film.

I might check it out. I have no issue with the premise at all. Just that the writing and jokes aren't really hooking me so far.

Gotcha. Yeah, the reviews were pretty poor for the TV show. But the film I mentioned, while it got only okay reviews, we thought it was one of the better movies of 2016. Hope you enjoy it.

So much TV that I'm being buried!

I wish he'd just set up a feed even though it's a "beta test" so I can just put this on my phone, but oh well. I'm not going to complain when I finally have a TV preview podcast again.
 
I watched The 100 all night two nights ago, and I'm currently up to episode 7 of season 1 and I'm totally digging it. I love it a lot. Love how it's people on their own on a planet they've never been to, experiences things and with all these different personalities.
 
24: Legacy numbers are out.

Per TVLine:

The premiere of 24: Legacy, which got started around 11 pm (and earned an average grade of "B" from TVLine readers), pulled a modest 17.6 million total viewers, with a 6.1 rating in the key 18-49 demo. That audience puts it just slightly above Alias (17.4 million in 2003) for the least-watched entertainment program ever to follow the big game. But Fox spun it as the most-watched series premiere on broadcast TV since 2 Broke Girls nabbed 28.7 million viewers in 2011.

Especially since it's going to be tying into the original series pretty quickly, based on the trailers (or already has... haven't seen tonight's episode yet).

I'm going with a 1.5 for tonight's episode.

The problem is that it's so choreographed that it's almost infuriating to watch. I kind of hope they subvert expectations and it's not just mole after mole and quadruple crosses with random people being shot.

Agreed.

I thought it looked dumb from watching the preview trailer and almost didn't give it a chance. However, after reading some of the reviews on it, I decided to watch it and I actually really enjoy it.

One of the things I like is how the show expands on
Riggs dealing with his wife's death through flashbacks and more characterization of his ordeal
.

But then that's something you are able to do with a TV show compared to a movie.

Yes. But that fails to take into account that shows that fail live are usually also shows that fail on DVR.

I like the show's leads and love the premise so I want it to be successful.

I hate the execution so I'm also okay if it gets cancelled.

You're right, I should have thought of that. But I think I may have been holding onto the thought despite that being the norm, there were often exceptions to it, and that maybe Timeless was one of them.

That was from an article in November when it got the additional eps. Of course, I suppose I don't know what the parameters for failing in the DVR category are, though, and these numbers are outdated, but I still had the impression it was doing better relative to DVR numbers than to broadcast numbers. (But given the last link below, it seems I may have been incorrect in thinking this.)

The problem is that it started at the number that other post voice shows got when they lost the voice as a lead. This one already started that low.
 
Regarding Timeless... It took 15 episodes for the characters to decide to even begin to come up with a plan, and the time travel stuff is almost completely irrelevant now other than watching people act confused in costume.

I would have said that the NASA episode was at least somewhat important, but of course, Hidden Figures came out so...

I doubt it will fall because Jane's ratings are already near rock bottom and it's not going to rise either because they've been stuck at 0.3 - 0.4 since it began.

Interesting that HBO is pulling Veep out of Game of Thrones' orbit. They're now pairing it with the final season of The Leftovers, though latter is at 9 and the former is at 10:30, so I'm curious to see what they air in the 10 slot. Silicon Valley? Vice Principals?

I was surprised that they announced just Veep today. I assumed it would be paired with Silicon Valley like usual, but I guess not?

It could be Vice Principals, it's just sitting there. Give the people their Goggins! But Silicon Valley will probably be in the spot.
