EVO 2017 Player's Choice Game - [Ended] UMVC3 wins #SometimesEvilWins

Marvel really should have been in from the start, especially since Infinite isnt out. Like, I would understand if it isnt next year, hell, if this was next year I'd be pissed in Marvel 3 was up for vote and won.

But imo, you cant have evo without a Marvel game, it has its own brand of hypeness (much like anime fighters have their own hypeness). Im glad it won because I love watching Marvel (not necessarely playing it tho) but I was baffled when it wasnt in the initial line up.
 
Super late, but went back to read the thread reactions around the final 10 minutes. Seemed intense! Looks like Pokken fans were the first to start sniping. But then Marvel fans were like, "Too soon, Junior!"

Just thinking about shady tactics though, I wonder if someone could have DDOS'd the site during the final minutes when their game of choice took the lead.

It just wouldn't be EVO without Justin Wong competing in a game that three people in the world still play seriously.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that there are three people who play UMVC3 seriously left in the world. But this gives the perfect opportunity for a couple of people to step up and provide JW with the chance to get another completely legitimate EVO title.
 
I knew this was going to happen. Salt was too much to handle. They lose and chargebacks happen. They should be banned from EVO and any Pokken tournament if he/she is a tournament player. That's beyond dirty.

That's crazy, I was hoping no chargebacks were going to show up for any of the games, I can't say I am surprised though which is unfortunate.

Hopefully someone saved on to the receipts because years down the line the narrative is going to be "man Marvel 3 won that donation drive free" when that was not the case at all, it was razor's edge close.

I'm completely fine with treating chargebacks as though they never donated.
 
Doesn't make the Pokken community look good. Even if its only two people, its a lot of money, and for charity.

The proof through tweets and messages of some people saying they'll charge back doesn't help the situation either.

I don't think those messages are real. Mostly because it came from r/kappa and r/kappa is full of fucking idiots, and partly because even after the removed donations each one of those shown in that image remains.

But really don't listen to r/kappa

I wouldn't be surprised if that image inspired others to chargeback however.

....Not too late, am I? Missed all the action/reaction yesterday. Didn't even think to check till today. Well, I must say, as one who loves Marvel and really likes playing Pokken, I'm sorta-kinda glad Marvel came out on top. I managed to catch the Yipes rant before the final donations took place and he had some poignant stuff to say. Hearing what he said, then seeing all of the reactions from all the Marvel heads gives me H2O to wash away any would-be salt. I was fortunate to have 2 games I really like be in the top running. Can't imagine what some other communities felt. And perhaps it's for the best that Pokken doesn't settle on an outdated version of a game with an International audience/scene. Maybe we can actually get a Port with updated characters and balance changes (cause honestly it'd be like playing original MvC3 over Ultimate at this point).
