I wonder when we will get a reaction by him. I hope it will be reasonable and that he cuts these awful jokes and makes his channel the better for it.

He also reacted to those exact headlines and yes, that was an actual joke and he was very clear about that. If you really want an informed opinion, you should watch the whole actual video and not base it on shitty articles of the UK media

(regardless of which way your opinion goes, the media is a total shitshow and I think it is a bad habit to just go on that).

From what I've seen of him he doesn't come off as a terrible person. His "edgelord" comedy style seems to center around saying ridiculous/offensive shit, which I'm guessing is why he's so popular with teenagers. I really doubt he's the alt-right white supremacist some of the people in here are making him out to be. No doubt he crossed the line with this "joke," and deserves some fallout from it, but I don't think the pure hatred some of you are throwing his way is warranted.

Good. Stop normalizing this shit.

Agreed. Karma is a bitch but seeing this showing even if it is a 'joke' i do not agree to spread anti-Semitic stuff. He is a dumb ass and this is what happens when you put stuff like this in front viewers who are young and being influenced by it and starting to believe it.

The real crime is the exploitation of third world labor for profit.

which they themselves set up . saying India is a third world country is kinda mean dont you think

thx for the info alec mutsuki and dofen btw.

.... Like what even do you need to drink to think that's a good idea?

yeah I agree its too much

still waiting for those other 8 video tho if someone would kindly look it up.

A good point. I mean, the average age and IQ of his viewer base can't be that high.

Good, about time they did something about him. They should also completely remove his channel and delete all of his videos from the website. What he did was absolutely disgusting.

This guy's videos are about as entertaining and funny as a trepanning session, but some of the replies in this thread... Tough crowd.

Currently being blown way out of proportion by the media. I was pretty shocked when I was reading The Verge's article. Really trying to sensationalize the whole thing. To me it's just pushing the wrong people's buttons one too many times. I watch a lot of iDubbz and Filthy Frank. This is nothing lol.

Am sad I won't get to see Scare PewDiePie with h3h3 from the second season :\

i can't muster any sympathy for this massively rich dude getting his revenue cut off for making extremely shitty jokes

yes -_- a comment made in his sarcastic and not serious voice

and I love how people keep talking about these 9 videos without citing them, like they understand the context in each one of them and they're just as bad as the "death to all jews" joke

good to know you're a nazi sympathizer!

/s

A good point. I mean, the average age and IQ of his viewer base can't be that high.

What I've never quite understood is that he's supposedly aimed at kids but last I checked, he swore like a builder. I wouldn't want any under 10s in my care listening to him and thinking swearing for no good reason is cool.

and every other channel that dares to joke about jews

Like... where's the joke? That they did it? I'm not seeing anything that could be considered a joke, or even funny.

Maybe "Death to All Blacks" would have been better. Now THATS comedy!

A good point. I mean, the average age and IQ of his viewer base can't be that high.

Spreading anti-Semitic things like 'hitler was a good guy' or 'the holocaust did not happen' children will be influenced by it and say that to there friends and there friends. But when the time comes they ask there parents about there parents will be shocked and they will ask where did you get this wrong information from? Than it is worrisome since there image on what happend in history is being distorted by a dumb ass like pewdiepie who thinks this is 'fun' but it really isn't.

his content isn't targetted at kids despite tons of kids watching it anyways. I guess its very similar to all the other "vulgar" shows like South Park that aren't targetted at kids but are still watched by kids

I'm sorry, but these guys Fiver account is their best revenue, they do not want people to not use it, they pretty much need it. It's a service they are providing themselves, they're not obligated to do this, nor they have any terrible work conditions, they just film themselves in front of a camera and hold up a sign.

How much were they paid vs. how much money PewDiePie made off of the video?

saying India is a third world country is kinda mean dont you think

No, but apparently you think that.

Jesus christ people are overreacting. He's not a nazi, his show doesn't have "anti-semite messages". Yes, it's stupid for every famous person to make jokes about the holocaust or whatever but that doesn't make them a white supremacist

Did they say subscribe to Keemstar? if they did that's a little funny because he is a racist piece of shit and I can see what he was going for. Poorly thought out though given his popularity.

.

Also, I insist, this thread became "GAF is Tana Mongeau: The thread".

Regardless of whether or not he actually meant it, it was a stupid thing to do. It's foolish to think that any sponsor who wants to maintain a healthy image would keep you on after that.

Sure did.

But let's not dwell on details here.

You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.

Should have retired after streaming The Last Guardian.

This is what I don't get, apparently the joke was intended to slander someone who was anti-semetic. And everyone is jumping down Pewds throat for making fun of someone who was anti-semetic.

For example, Mega64 curates their own content, but there was one podcast where (because it's all improv), they ventured a little too close to transphobia - after uploading the video, they immediately made a statement and took down the video from any places where it appeared and promised to do better. And while their comedy is edgy and while they've been homophobic (generally with homophobes being the actual target) in the past, they change and adapt to accomodate their audience while still being funny.

Unrelated but I fucking love Rocco and Co. The thing is they're just way more mature than PewDiePie both in age and in video content creation. They did have a bunch of risky jokes back then and did get a bit of shade for them, but now they're very sensible people that know actual comedy.

How much were they paid vs. how much money PewDiePie made off of the video?

That's still not exploration. They were paid what they themselves ask for. Whatever amount of money PewDiePie made off that video is irrelevant. Stop trying to create this bullshit narrative.

It's pretty hard to make out "subscribe to keemstar" but even if you understand, it's hard to get it either. I myself am not aware of any Keemstar drama (lol) as I barely know what he does

South Park gets broadcast and sold with an age rating for that very reason. They also provide context with their jokes and it's clearly satire.

Pewdiepie does neither of those things. He knows the majority of his audience consists of children, and whether he likes it or not, that comes with some responsibility. There's no satire or double meaning in his 'joke'. It's shouting something offensive just for the sake of it. That's not what South Park does.

Like many people have said, if 'Death to Jews' isn't offensive enough for you, would 'Death to Blacks' be fine, or 'Death to Muslims'? I mean, as long as you excuse it with 'just a joke guys' it's fine, right?

I don't think the guy is antisemitic. I just think he's a bit of an idiot.

Why didn't PewDiePie choose someone from Sweden to hold up the signs?

Good god how do people not see this as sarcasm?

Because it is indistinguishable from others complaining about supposed white persecution, not that hard to understand that supposed sarcasm doesn't translate in pure text.

Good god how do people not see this as sarcasm?

Because when you want to support your claim you want any evidence you can get, even if it uses flimsy logic and is dishonest

Why didn't PewDiePie choose someone from Sweden to hold up the signs?

I don't think you actually understand what Fiver is and what is this kind of service they provided. These guys were probably viral among some internet people and he wanted to try it out. You're talking like he specifically choose India as his go-to place to do the joke. If anything, these guys got way more visibility than they ever hoped, which, since they were able to get their account unbanned, is actually beneficial to them

As it has been mentioned before, if you're having sex with a goat to show how "ironic" and "clever" you are, you're still having sex with a goat.

I really don't know why he went through with uploading it, he shot the video over the course of 2 days, 1 day where he sent the requests, and then the day he got the replies. Maybe he didn't want to throw away a gag that cost him 2 days? Not even remotely a good enough reason but if he's at the don't give a fuck stage which judging by his latest stuff he really is (very ranty pieces, stopped uploading on Mondays due to stress of overworking, always jokes about running out of ideas)

He even has a video on how the whole pewdiepie persona has changed in the past few years, why he plays less games and why his humour is much darker/more mature now, maybe this video was a test to see how far he could get. He has beef with Youtube in general, along with many other channels, with regards to their algorithm changing for the worse, and last week there was that 'bug' in their system that tanked loads of big channels subscribers by millions in a few hours, so maybe it's a combination of being an idiot and going too far to spite Youtube for recent events?
Yes it really doesn't make sense to upload something like that, even if it was just a very dark joke from his point of view, unless as you say he did it to mess with youtube or maybe just wanted a way out if the whole thing is dwindling downwards anyway.

He certainly made a lot of money though, don't have to work another day in his whole life if he doesn't want to. A mid class salary for the whole year is about $35000 in Sweden, and he has made like what 10-20 million dollars? That should be enough for a couple hundred years or so...

I never watched PewDiePie's content but I respected how he got great success on YouTube. But his recent actions of making horrific jokes and hateful content (even as a '''joke''') is really bad.

Glad Maker Studios (Disney) and YouTube are pulling the plug with their partnerships with him; they likely don't want to be associated with hateful messages. And for those saying this is too harsh, there is the saying of 'Freedom Of Speech, Freedom of Consequence'.

PewDiePie can say whatever he wants, but he should also realize that everything he says/does has a consequence or reaction.

Good god how do people not see this as sarcasm?

Many people, myself included, really don't care about the intent. Regardless of what's going on in his head, these bits were incredibly stupid and I don't think the repercussions are at all disproportionate.

I think there are other things at play here, namely envy, this guy makes more in a week than most people will see in their lifetime, and for some reason they look down at youtubers for not having a 'real' job, so stuff like this makes them feel better about themselves for some reason and they'll spin whatever they can to have a stab at him.

I completely agree, but using that as the basis of "He's literally a white supremacist" is incredibly stupid.

sarcarsm =/= intent

If you actually think he's playing the white victim card you either didn't watch the video (and then why are you even commenting) or you're being plain dishonest

Agreed. Youtube has the option to mark videos as "age-restricted" for a reason and I think that he should do that for videos that is inappropriate for children

The only thing that's left is that GAF loves Tana Mongoloid.
Chill with this. Just because GAF isn't letting the #1 YouTube personality get away with anti-Semitic remarks doesn't mean we are "PC" to the point of thinking that lady isn't objectively worse.

I imagine he'll make some grand apology and youtube will pick him up again after the dust has settled. He's just too big.

Times are different now, I remember back in the day Nazi is used often in all types of comedy. But it is not funny anymore since neo-nazi is a real threat once again.
