If Trump gets impeached, is Pence that much better?

Of course he is, duh.

As it is now, here's what you get:

Trump crazy ass anti-constitutional international disaster that goes full fascits + you will still get whatever Pence wants to push through

If Pence becomes President you no longer have the first part. It's still a fucking shitty situation, but a better one.

Not only that, Pence would never, ever win in 2020.

I don't get the myopia in this thread

Yes if all this is true and collision occurred - by all means get them all out
I'm for it - I'd rather have someone in the White House that is presidential and professional

But everyone solely blaming the Russians?
If it wasn't for the democrats screwing over Bernie and all the other stuff that was uncovered this wouldn't even be a story

How can you not say Hilary's team is most to blame?

Please stop.

Yeah, there's no way if this breaks bad that Pence gets to assume the seat. He knew. So he gets impeached too.

VPs can get impeached and removed just like Presidents do. And if the case is a treasonous one, he doesn't get to duck it, much less be rewarded with the Presidency.

It will fall to Ryan. But the question then would be whether the election itself is declared illegitimate.

I don't think they'll declare the election illegitimate. Too much of a clusterfuck (even though we're almost at peak clusterfuck). Trump, Pence, Bannon, and the rest will be impeached/removed/charged (in a just world anyway), Ryan will take the presidency but they'll be stained by this and lose the presidency, senate, and house in 2020.

Though in a just world, Trump, Bannon, and the Fascist cronies that sold the country out to Russia would be hung from the rafters after a trial for high treason.

When it comes to whether or not Pence would be worse, I think the line of thinking here is that we're just going to try and tackle this one step at a time. Step one is to get Trump out. We'll deal with step two if the time comes.

Even though people on GAF are always expecting a impeachment, lets say that does happen. Wouldn't the GOP and Pence still be in charge? If so, you should look into Pence. Not like he is is pro life, lgbt, etc. Only win is the orange turd being removed. Mostly would be the same the same otherwise.

Pence has awful domestic policy but in the end he is not Donald Trump. He is not going to cause an international incident over the size of his hands. At this point I can live with that for 3.5 years if it'll mean the end of the Donald and all his ilk.

We've had one month of this nutjob in office. It's clear that at this point we won't survive 4. Something has to happen.

Pence would have zero chance of being reelected due to the messy circumstances, and that's assuming he he doesn't end up getting attached to the Russia scandal.

I just can't believe that all of this shit will end up in a history book someday. All of this is so embarrassing for this country.

Yes, Hillary is the reason Trump committed treason. Also the reason why Bernie got 3 million less votes.

So then who becomes President?

If there's any justice the Supreme Court would rule it go to the popular vote winner and deem the election of Trump illegitimate. At this point it is nearly impossible to determine just how infested then GOP is, so it would be irresponsible to give any sitting member of the GOP presidency.

It might "stick" but I do not see the cards collapsing. Or maybe I'm just trying to not get my hopes up.

It's one thing to be pessimistic but let's not automatically assume that nothing will come of this when things in fact HAVE been coming of this. See: Flynn's resignation.

Honestly I feel like people aren't reading the articles and are instead reading all the people excited and immediately thinking the opposite will happen, which is not a good thing.

This does not guarantee impeachment nor does it guarantee nothing being done.

So what season of 24 does this most closely resemble?

Maybe I'm too cynical but to me it seems if the agencies are leaking this stuff, they have hit a wall and putting it out hoping something new comes up and gives them ammo to use against Trump. Does sort of feel like internal wars are brewing inside CIA, FBI, etc and I wonder whats going to happen.
None. We're in uncharted waters. Not even 30 days into a 4 year stay.

Burn this shit down. Get them all out.

So you could deal with Pence's gay therapy?

I want to see them all rot in jail. 2017 elections please. Don't want Paul Ryan to get too comfy in the White House.

"All" includes Comey, for the record. This is as much on him as on anyone else.

The first move should be to get the fucking insane, dangerous stooge out of the nuke chair. He's an exersential threat that goes beyond policy disagreements.

Once that's done, the Dems can just stonewall any and everything and keep the illegitimate president story going. Being from a party that supported a Russian plant, it shouldn't be hard. Run on the midterms on it.

I don't think it's game over yet... But we're getting there. Getting there a lot faster than I thought we would.

At this point, if you've been following this since the primaries, it would be a surprise if he *isn't* involved with the Russians.

Nobody is delegitimizing the election through this. Trump won fair and square, even if the system he won in (EC) is stupid. If anyone is delegitimizing the election, it's trump claiming that even the popular vote was wrong because of "millions of cases of voter fraud" with literally no evidence. If the president is commiting treason is a serious issue, but we're not forcing the results to change (Unless we get to the point where literally everyone involved with Trump is a Russian plant, but I highly doubt that)

I'm not saying that the election is delegitimized through this. If they consider that it can be delegitimized? I ain't gonna say no.

But the main reason I pointed to that article is that I realized that the Trump team have vehemently denied Russian contact, and they were FUCKING LYING*

* - I mean we know they're fucking liars, but the news media / non-traitorous members of Congress who aren't sunshine soldiers have more ammunition to blow them up.

I don't think there is a legal mechanism to hold a new election.

or anyone with authority to declare it illegitimate.

Honestly guys, impeachment is 99% a political call. Unless there's a smoking gun of Trump himself promising favors for hacking, he's safe until January 2019. But if this makes him essentially a lame duck it's just as well.

It's one thing to be pessimistic but let's not automatically assume that nothing will come of this when things in fact HAVE been coming of this. See: Flynn's resignation.

We'll see how far it goes. I just think shitty enough things have already happened like the stupid fucking travel ban that was arguably unconstitutional but here we still are. This is worse but I feel like this entire thing just spins like a dryer. It just feels like he can get away with about anything. Hope I'm proven wrong.
